Mister actually helps Celie and Nettie reunite. Because she told him "until you do right by me, everything you even think about is gonna fail!" My favorite movie!
I was looking for this! He straightened things out with the State Dept. so that Nettie and the children could come back from Africa. So, he DID get what he deserved, but then at the very end he got right with karma.

Billy Jean King was actually very good friends with Bobby Riggs. They spoke very warmly of each other and talked frequently, even shortly before he died

Most people don’t realize the movie is based off the book. Read it and understood the movie so much more. Love Danny Glover, but hated his character. Gut-and-heart-wrenching with a warm ending.
My favorite comeuppances: Joey Donner getting his ass kicked by Bianca Startford. The Sanderson Sisters kidnapping Jay and Ernie after the latter makes a sexist remark. C.C. Bloom punching out the film director after he insults her. Roger Ailles being fired from Fox News. The Stepford Husbands being confronted by their no longer obedient wives. Tommy Korman admitting defeat after Jack parachutes into Betsy's arms. Billy Angelslov getting poisoned and then brought back to life only to be beaten to death then exorcised.
You should have included Mitch Hiller from Enough (2002), for a long time he hunted down Slim because he always beat her, it was satisfying to see him get what he deserved in the end.
It has ALWAYS been my contention Jennifer Lopez deserved much more recognition for this role than ever received. When I need to feel more powerful, I'll watch it again, especially the ending.
I feel like Hugo and Victor Martinez from Rambo: Last Blood should be up there. I remember when Hugo said that he treats his slaves not like girls but as things. Same thing for Immortan Joe from Mad Max: Fury Road, he too treated his wives like things.

Very much agreed. The Swedish version is also more accurate to the books, unsurprisingly. Lisbet in the books are fairly cold and her actions are far more calculated. You can compare the two movies and see the stark differences in Swedish and American culture. It is quite fascinating to be honest. Though it is quite annoying that the American version basically switched the characterization of Lisbet and Mikael.
Lisbeth was fighting against her guardian/rapist and other sexual abusers. The final original 3rd book, she’s fighting back against the whole guardianship system, placing adults under guardianship, accusing them of being mentally disabled when they weren’t. Spoiler in next comment. . .
Lisbeth’s father was a Russian mobster turned informant for Swedish government. He was protected by the government, who refused to step in when he was abusing his wife and daughters. Lisbeth fought back as a young teenager, almost killing him. She was deemed mentally disabled/ developmental delayed and placed under guardianship, even after becoming an adult. Lisbeth wasn’t disabled, mentally or developmentally, just a little neuro atypical, on the high side of the Spectrum
And why doesn’t she mention Jafar in the 1992 version of Aladdin alongside the 2019 version? This is our preferred way of watching Disney’s Aladdin, plus Jafar wasn’t any less of human garbage in the early 90s Aladdin movies before The King of Thieves!
The original script of Promising Young Woman had no scheduled texts or wedding arrest. Al literally killed Cassie, his friend helped him burn her body and everyone moved on. Screenwriter changed it because she thought it was too dark.
I love Ms. Mojo. This one is my favorite of all time. What a collection!. I watched the real Billy Jean King take down Bobby Riggs on the small television set in the basement of my sorority house. While we were screaming and jumping up and down the front doorbell rang. It was the girls from next door who were doing the same. We ended up in the street having a celebration to remember. I am so very glad to have lived long enough to see these movies as well as the reality behind them. The 2017 Woman's March on Washington. That was a day to remember.

The Color Purple is such a beautiful film-but in the book Celie and Mr become friends after their marriage ends. After he sinks really low he ends up bonding with Celie over their love for Shug and even proposes to her again.

One movie misogynist you missed was Jabba the Hutt. In "Return of the Jedi", he takes Leia prisoner and objectifies her by forcing her to wear that skimpy metal bikini. It's EXTREMELY satisfying when Leia kills him by choking him with the very chains he used to enslave her with.

One thing that sticks out is that the Swedish title of the first book/movie is "Men who hates women". The author witnessed a woman he knew get assaulted in his youth and that affected him heavily.

@@melissaroszkowski8911 Seen neither but as a Swede, I'm more familiar with the setting of the Millennium trilogy. One thing that sticks out is that the Swedish title of the first book/movie is "Men who hates women". The author witnessed a woman he knew get assaulted in his youth and that affected him heavily.
