    Everytime I come to this channel I am in excruciating pain. I will continue to fight though, been fighting this episode for about 8 weeks now. I just got a electric shock pad and an currently being shocked to throw off the pain. My heart goes out to anyone else fighting this very painful condition.

      I'm in my mid 30s and my back "popped" yesterday as I sat down to put socks on.... I haven't been able to stand or walk since... the pain is the worst I've ever felt....(I've severed my finger and it didn't suck this bad) what do I do? Can a doctor help? Or will they just dope me up?

      @@benjamincopeland2141 I just got home from an appointment to meet a spinal surgeon. It sounds like what you have is a lot more debilitating. If I were you I would schedule an appointment to get an MRI through your primary care doctor. I wish I would have got the ball rolling alot earlier on because I'm still in the same situation I was in 2 Months ago when I posted this. But now today I finally have a solution and a date for surgery.

    I was in pain for a whole month. I have mild scoliosis and siatica. I only recently found out because I woke up in excruciating pain in my mid back. I was given steroids, tramadol and muscle relaxers. Nothing helped. Physical therapy didn’t have an opening for 3 more weeks. And then my colleague mentioned the TENS machine. She brought it in to work and placed the pads all over the spasms I was experiencing in my mid back. After 30 minutes the sharp pain was gone and stayed gone. Although I wasn’t 100 percent better. I only felt some discomfort that was manageable with stretching and daily walks. Before that? I couldn’t sit longer than 5 minutes without being in intense pain. I had to constantly lay on the floor. This machine works!

    I bought a TENS unit and it’s amazing!!! Not just for pain but helped my strain muscles start to heal after nothing else was working after I had a bad fall.

  • @fwcolb

    I hope nobody misunderstands this video. The pads have to go on the SKIN, not the clothing. I don't use TENS anymore. For some reason the pains went away after a couple of weeks intensive use of my TENS instrument. I am nearly 90 so I do not believe the underlying disorder has been fixed. I think all that has happened is the over-excited nerves have become quieter.

      Ok. I loved my TENS machine, but it wasn't enough for my back or statica pain. I went to my phiso therapists, who the same as physical therapists. She used ultrasound machine on me. That worked for me.
      It's the machine it has a gentle heat without the image screen. I think Americans call it sonogram but without the images. I layed on the bed and she would run the tool over my sore bits. That's the best way I can explain this treatment. It worked best for me. I'm in Australia

      I was diagnosed with sciatica a few weeks ago, the pain subsided on its own in a matter of days. Then BAM! The pain came back, I literally had to drag myself across the house just to use the restroom. Went to the ER that evening for some pain meds, I'd have taken a sledgehammer to the noggin, if that would've helped. Been in pain now for something like 3 weeks straight, nothing and I mean NOTHING has been helpful. Ok, I have had moments where there's little pain. Found this duo earlier, love their banter, did the movements they suggested in another video. Just got new leads in the mail for my portable TENS unit, so definitely wanted insight on best placement. I worked for a podiatrist around 15 years ago, a device he used, called Microvas, worked similar to a TENS unit; actually I think it was a TENS unit, just bigger with many leads, something like 10 or 12. The podiatrist I worked for was also a surgeon and specialized in diabetic neuropathy treatment. I had the opportunity to assist on a few outpatient surgical procedures. Got to use a retractor to hold back skin while the doc removed pins. The doc was a challenge to work with, not the best "people" person, but highly skilled.

    What do you do when the Sciatica is on the leg with a Total Hip Replacement? A Physical Therapist tried and the pain was excruciating.. I don't think these machines will work with people who have Metal type components in that area.. What would you suggest? A lot of my pain is also coming from my S1 L5 Tail Bone. Which is hard to sit, stand and even lay down.. Tried the back exercises and it didn't work.. Was told Ablation or Discectomy, will see what this new Neurologist suggests.

    • @hoosierbaddy3052
      @hoosierbaddy3052 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just had a hip replacement. The surgery exacerbated the bursa. Which in turn made my pain palpable. Painful to the slightest touch. And I could not lie on my right side till recently. I’m almost 10 months out from my surgery. Having worked previously as a physical therapy aid, I am very familiar with tens units. The prosthesis isn’t impeded nor damaged by using electrical stimulation. The relief from using it is immediate. But you definitely have to know where to place the electrodes.
      Hope you’re doing better Elizabeth.

      20 minutes. And you can use them up to 4 times daily. As long your skin maintains its integrity. I used to work as a physical therapy aid. Tens Therapy was always done at the end of their session. We’d put ice over it too.
      I just had a hip replacement. It aggravated my bursa. Couldn’t sleep on my right side for months. After using the unit, it’s improved dramatically. Less pain equals less meds. Good luck

I'm watching the video to see where else can I put it to ease up the pain because the pain never stops lol but I beat cancer pain I can handle this but oh being in this pain I get pain meds from the Dr for 2 days and I stretched my whole body out an walking is causing more pain where I can't notice for 2 days and I'm good for 24hrs then I repeat without pain meds because I only needed them to really get a deep stretch because pain meds is just a cover up you have to walk and stretch it out yourself. And I do love this device if I could buy more I really would an I recommend this to anyone. Sry for writing a book lol I'm just grateful for this thing.

      Terri Mammarelli I think you need to check with your doctor before using Tens if you have/had cancer. I am not a medical person but strongly recommend discussing your use of a tens machine with your doctor. Best wishes.

      Terri Mammarelli Did you ask him about your use of Tens after the cancer? I have read somewhere that it needs medical supervision after cancer. I wish you well. Constant pain is terrible. When you’re buying a unit again you can get one with 4 pads from Amazon. It’s the best pain reliever I have ever come across. Stay well and best wishes.

    can i still use the tens over tha area as you demonstrated?

    • @GreaterLADashcam

      No you cannot due to the risk of unwanted electrocution.

    • @GreaterLADashcam
      @GreaterLADashcam 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Topazthecat Well, you can always remove the jewelry to avoid getting shocked. I'm assuming that should be a no-brainer. When I visited my therapist for a tens treatment last year, the first thing he asked me is if I had any metal implants in my back for safety reasons, and he told me that if I did have a metal implant he couldn't perform the treatment because it would produce an electric shock on the device.

    Have you heard of the NeuroMD? They say it is NMES and is supposed to retrain the muscles so supposedly better than TENS? I've had "back pain" for four years. Nothing gave relief for more than 24 hours and one thing I tried, myofascial release, actually made it hurt worse. After watching you I realized what I actually have is SI pain coupled with pirformis pain. I was thinking of a tens unit but then I came across this other thing. Would really love your professional opinion before I drop the money on something that might not work. Thanks so much!

    Thank you for this video as I have had bad sciatica in my buttocks for several months and I just bought an EMS thought I would try that as my tens is not working that well for this problem. I assume it does not matter where the pad placement will go whether it’s a tens or an EMS. Thanks guys

      @@RCFlyer007 tens units can only work as much as how the operator uses them. It IS important where the electrodes are placed. As a former physical therapy aid, I can assure you that they do work. I’m using mine now several times a day. Had a hip replacement 10 months ago. Now I’m plagued with bursitis. It’s a common side effect from arthroplasty. There’s no amount of meds or ice to alleviate this pain.
