I have a funny story to tell, one time I was playing through this mission and got to about where Emile is at 16:15. Funny thing is, toad fell off the ledge and respawned on the rail by the binoculars. From there he fell again, and the game respawned him inside another room, making the mission uncompletable.
i have a simmilar story: i was doing the mission and i had no idea where to go, i was riding the conveyor thing up to the ledge where toad was, i attempted to get off of it while being above toad, toad kept me from getting off and i clipped into the ball. i could not get off and had to restart, sorry if this isnt understandable, my english is shit plus im tired

The afraid of plants toad, although we don't see much of him, was stationed in a mantion filled with luigi-eating plants, ghosts, and had nothing to defend himself with. The yellow toad is surrounded by semi-sentient bombs, and got scared off a cliff before getting trapped. This guy apparently goes ice fishing, and THE INSTANT YOU FREE HIM, the ice under his feet breaks and he's trapped in a cold world that would kill him if he had no help. THESE ARE ALL LEGITAMATE REASONS TO BE AFRAID.

Man, you honestly had me going for a second and made me think you were gonna say the Mine is your least-favorite area in the game. I'm glad you like it so much though, 'cause I like it too; the atmosphere is nice, it's got a lot of cool things you'd expect out of an isolated house in the mountains in a blizzard (stoves, ice buildup, some of the furniture like that bear rug), and the fact that there's a ton of underground caves is just super neat.

I have a theory~! (SPOILERS AHEAD FOR LUIGI'S MANSION: DARK MOON AND FOR METROID PRIME!) ..... That this mansion was inspired partially by elements from Metroid Prime. First of all, a haunted snowy mountain, with unusual components collected by mining that power up enemies. This parallels the Phendrana region of Tallon IV, a somewhat haunted snowy mountain range, with a peculiar element with enemy enhancing properties. Guess what? It was mined by Space Pirates and they gave it to troops to make them stronger, just as the Boos mine the crystals and put ghosts in them to make them stronger. Plus, the boss of this mansion is a possessed sheet of rocky ice. Phendrana's boss? An icy rock monster. But this is purely speculation. It may have been a coincidence, or it may have been intentional. Think what you may.

I have a theory~! (SPOILERS AHEAD FOR LUIGI'S MANSION: DARK MOON AND FOR METROID PRIME!)

That this mansion was inspired partially by elements from Metroid Prime. First of all, a haunted snowy mountain, with unusual components collected by mining that power up enemies. This parallels the Phendrana region of Tallon IV, a somewhat haunted snowy mountain range, with a peculiar element with enemy enhancing properties. Guess what? It was mined by Space Pirates and they gave it to troops to make them stronger, just as the Boos mine the crystals and put ghosts in them to make them stronger. Plus, the boss of this mansion is a possessed sheet of rocky ice. Phendrana's boss? An icy rock monster.
But this is purely speculation. It may have been a coincidence, or it may have been intentional. Think what you may.
I was cracking up when chugga did a toad voice for the boo in this episode! 😂

I completely agree. I LOVE the Old Clockworks, but The Secret Mine is definitely my favorite.
I thought you did the whole bad-reception-phone-call-breaking-up-thing well. 13:23 Those gold bars respawn every mission. I check every room in every mission to get the highest possible gold record. The robotic bomb looked like it was being reflected, meaning it's probably invisible. I've never actually noticed that in THIS mission. I'm glad to know that you like the Secret Mine as much as I do and I love that picture in the outro.
