In terms of that gem that Emile got in the beginning of the video, its painting was invisible in the same place where he found it in the beginning of the mission. however! That painting would give you only coins if you used the dark light device, but this only happens in the first mission. Even if the painting was visible, it would give you coins instead of the gem because it was only the first mission. That gem only becomes available in the second mission. Hope this makes sense and helps!

8:55 I would like to share an experience I had with this game at the skip slope in this level, I was trying to get both the gem that's there and the key, I jumped for the key and missed, yet somehow fell through the floor. All I could see was a black void, but on the minimap, luigi's icon would hit the bottom, then warp back to the top, then hit the bottom, then warp to the top again, speeding up infinitely. I was forced to re-start the level and collect all the prior gems in it all over again.
if I remember correctly, I got this on my second attempt after that forced restart, he only shows one or the other, I want to say it's the key, the gem will show on your collection bar if you get that fifth one frozen in the ice right before the room with the strong ghost variants, and even if you miss that gem it still counts that you got the star gem even though the game didn't outright show you.

My obsession with this guy is to the point where I'm still wondering why I haven't subscribed yet...
After getting back to the game last night I must say it was very interesting, but man the boss of this mansion and the mechanic, oh it lives a chill in my spine. Sorry I said two bad things there, I forgot I'm not supposed to talk about my spine. But I'm not joking about the boss leaving me a chill in it either. Dang chuggaa you made me think of a pun.
The ice in the fishing hut remains broken in Missions 2 and 3. You need a ton of gold to triple star rank the Secret Mine Missions. You can still use your vacuum and strobe bulb while sliding. If you look into the cinder mine from the deep hall, BEFORE you actually go into the cinder room, you will see a gold greenie in there. Then as Luigi backs away from the peep-hole a Sneaker will trip him and you'll fight both ghosts after they're done laughing at you. You can clearly see the peep-hole during the phone call at 24:04. Peep-holes don't work while there are ghosts in a room and they have that purple-ish glow that most important objects do when the room is dark. I love that fuzballs, who actually looks slightly threatening, just wants to snuggle with Luigi. I also like the way you said E-Gates. Sounded sort of like E. Gadd, which was probably intentional considering he made them, but I never actually made the connection before. Yeah, I always wondered what the "E" in "E-Gates" stood for... Don't judge me!
I feel like this area is my favorite in the game just because of how much variety the puzzles have and just the general feel of this place. It actually feels lonely and haunted, unlike the other mansions. I mean how much more desolate can you get when you are on a little cottage on top of a snowy mountain.
Since only a small portion will notice, I shall say that Emile puts in a tremendous amount work in each of his videos. In Egad's conversations he individually cut his voice out for each cut in the text.
Emile, you do realize when you are sliding down a slope like the skip slope, you can use the Poltergeist using L and R to adjust your speed: L to slow you down making the gem easy to find, and R to go faster.
Just a tip for you, Emile: In the Skip Slope (or any slide), you can use the L & R buttons to adjust your speed (with R=faster and L=slower) which makes getting the star-shaped sapphire really easy. And I'm genuinely surprised not that many people commented (angrily or not) about it. You also missed a Gold Greenie paired with a Sneaker: In the Deep Hall, before unfreezing the door to the Cinder Mine, look into said room via the hole in the wall. You'll see a Gold Greenie waving at you. Exit this view and a Sneaker will make you trip and fall and then you can capture both ghosts posthaste, as E. Gadd would say.
When you were starting this lp, it helped me man up, and I took on mission 5-4 again for the millionth time. I was able to beat it, but in all the chaos, I didn't bother to find the boo. And then I actually beat the game! But watch, Emile's gonna reveal something to make that mission MUCH easier. BTW, you'll never guess who the final boss is.

This is my favorite mission in the game. Played it probably 10+ times. Also the boos trapping the ghosts against their will always interested me. It was pretty dark.

Also the boos trapping the ghosts against their will always interested me. It was pretty dark.

I remember that Star Gem giving me quite a bit of trouble. Thankfully, the Skip Slope is indeed a lot of fun, so I really didn't mind it that much!
