You do an amazing job with the cinematography and what really makes this channel appealing and interesting, as well as a good director of photography and personality. Good work! Seems that your on the end of the country opposite of where you like to travel so much! Why not move to the west! Utah, Cali, Nevada, tons of wheeling!, um over-landing!!

    For some reason, Toyota doesn't believe in having the fuel range update with average fuel consumption... Our Tundra shows the exact same range on a full tank regardless of what our average fuel consumption is.

    Jason, I came through that spot (at 12:00 ) on President's Day...It was even muckier than in your video! The area had been getting a lot of rain. Had to winch out of the deepest part as it was too technical to use momentum. A locker would have been great to have :)

      Same here. I came down it...didn't try going up. Cool thing is, immediately after winching out, foxpeditions came around the corner. When we parted ways, they had decided not to go up it due to conditions.
      Here's an Instagram from Foxpeditions, of them trying a bypass around that spot... instagram.com/p/BfWbkXunPxh/?taken-by=foxpeditions

    Im not a fan of mud too, don't really like rain either. That said, snow, sand, and rocks don't bother me at all, I think it's because I got into overlanding in northern Utah way back in the 90's .

    My Titan has an Automatic mechanical locker... so I use my locker whenever I push the go pedal 😎

    • @thestig007
      @thestig007 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So it locks when one wheel slips? Seems like it would take the guess work out of it.

    • @adrianw3985
      @adrianw3985 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheStig ZeroZeroZero basically a auto mechanical locker works like this. When you apply power (hit the gas) it full locks the differential so your wheels are locked 1:1. But, it has a set of cams internally that allows one wheel (The one spinning faster) to override the locking mechanism. In a sense it works like a ratcheting mechanism in a socket wrench. Allows the faster wheel to ratchet ahead faster. So a mechanical locker is always working, always engaged. It doesn't have the best road manners at times and can be a bit clunky. On short wheel base vehicles it can be more pronounced. But, yes it essential takes the guess work out. Mechanical Auto lockers like the Detroit and similar Grizzly (mines is the Grizzly) are very strong. Some people use them in straight line drag racing too. It would be to abrupt for a track where you would be turning corners. For Track use, or smoother everyday use in a truck or SUV a True-trac is awesome. True-trac is an all gear type limited slip, also known as a Torsen. At any rate if your considering a Locker there are a variety to consider. The Toyota is an electric one it is an open differential when disengaged, and locked 1:1 when live. The ARB is the same but air activated mechanism.

      Adrian Wevers AutoLockers work well up front too. Lokka makes them for the R50 Pathfinder.

      I used to have an R51 Pathfinder, I went 4Runner after... sadly the Pathfinder is dead.

      Adrian Wevers I still have my 2002 that I bought new but I’m actually building out a 2018 T4R Trail Premium for my Mom which will be mine when she is done with it in a decade or so. I’m quite impressed with the 5th Gen 4Runner but it’s very cost effective to keep my old Pathy going.

    Ah, you didn't break your finger. That, ah, guy with the rock. Yeah. He broke it. Whew. From what I could tell no revenge killing. Impressive. Seems like it would be super-duper easy to hide a body out there. Not suggesting anything. Ahem.

  • @feellnfroggy

    When you turn on your Atrac....its a brake modulation system isnt it? For traction control as well as when an open diff starts spinning one tire, it brakes mildly to get the other tire spinning right? So is Atrac on the front wheels only? If you have Atrac on(and its 4 wheel) and then you lock in the diff, it seems they would work against each other if your posi locked rear starts spinning, the brakes would activate stopping both sides instead of the one side like when open diff? is it lack of understanding on my part? Does it not work this way?

    • @SwellRunner
      @SwellRunner  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know the details about ATRAC, in terms of whether it works on all four corners. My first thought would be that it would.. However, the 4Runner came with a rear locker from the factory, and while I hate making assumptions, I would ASSUME that the rear locker and ATRAC wouldn't fight each other when both engaged. I have ran them both concurrently many times without an issue. Good question!

      @MrFrame1979 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jason Koertge I just got a 4wd SR5 (wanted a 3rd row seat) and I’m thinking of adding an electronic locker.
      I’ve hear a lot of people saying how good A-Trac is, and I might not need a locker.
      Is it that good? When do you use a locker instead of A-Trac?

      The videos are never too long.

    • @Rocki5pr
      @Rocki5pr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      tnpharmd; agreed. Just pointing out that a YT video can be watched in multiple viewings instead of just one without losing where you left off (as long as you return within about a day I think) so not editing/posting a 35+ minute video because it would be too long may be just causing more work/aggravation when the alternative is a little longer but requires close to twice the work (for little more monetary compensation).
