If the gigaleak is any indication, Nintendo definitely still has the assets (in addition, the WarioWare: Get It Together minigame has some of the beta furniture assets used, fully confirming that they still have the beta somewhere)
My one complaint with this restoration is the music doesn't get slower with low health. That is something that was seen to happen in beta footage. Other then that, it literally looks like a perfect recreation. (Edit: Also there's no opening cinematic, but that would be very hard to recreate.)

The ghosts also weren't color coded like in the final. Basically, in the beta/alpha, any ghost could be any color. That would have been so much cooler if they kept it.
Good thing that it was removed from the finalized version of the game. Otherwise the fight with Boolossus (The 3rd boss battle) would have been too hard!

yes. It reminds me of Dead Rising, but it would more realistic form Luigi´s POV to be done as quickly as possible. It would´ave been cool if it remained, just a longer timer to keep us stressed but also to allow us to enjoy
Honestly, those ghosts look better in this version. They look more graphically impressive than the ones in the final game. I also really like the music this version has for when you clear a room. Way creepier than the final game.
This is really a great recreation of the beta. It’s got the early title screen, early ghost designs, early music, early mechanics, the early game boy horror with the demo time limit, and of course, all the boarded up doors which prevented players from accessing unfinished parts of the game, like the Anteroom, The Twin’s Room, The Ball Room, The Conservatory, The Billiard’s Room, The Laundry Room, The Fortune Teller’s Room, and the stairs to the basement. And there were also the crates blocking the player’s path to the Rec Room and the 2nd and 3rd floors of the mansion. This is a very well done recreation, minus the opening cutscene, but I know that would be very difficult to do. Overall, this is a great recreation of the Luigi’s Mansion beta. Excellent job to “Portable Productions” and her amazing team who made this!🎉
Definitely annoying if it appeared while fighting but the game gives two clear signs of it. The flashing light above the timer goes wild when ghosts are near, invisible included, and there’s a flame that spawns a good few seconds before it spooks you. Any cautious player would be able to react unless they’re completely distracted in a fight. 11:27 Luigi just walks right by the same one he got spooked by earlier and it doesn’t spawn so it was only an issue if you were standing around. I don’t think they would’ve been that a problem in isolation.
Unless it appeared in a hectic fight, it’s not unfair at all. The game gives two clear signs of it. Are the mechanics to catch ghosts different? In the released game, you had to constantly tug the control stick on the opposite direction of the ghost to drain its health. Here, it seems you only need to hold it?
Doesn't seem to be an issue while vacuuming ghosts due to how much faster their hp drops. Worst comes to worst, you'd just have multiple cycles to catch a portrait ghost/boss, which already is the case in the release version. If anything, the Beta is much faster paced and kinda arcade-like.
@@petergriscom3431I agree it doesn’t seem to be an issue.
