    The classic Margarita dates back to the 1930s. Made well and you’ll be coming back for more. Stick with the original recipe for the first time then tweak the measurements to suit your palate; whether it be a little heavier on the tequila or lessening the Cointreau for a a less-sweet, tart Margarita.
    INGREDIENTS
    - 45mL Tequila
    - 22.5mL Cointreau (or Triple Sec)
    - 22.5mL Fresh Lime Juice
    HOW TO
    1. Moisten the rim of your glass with a piece of citrus
    2. Rim the glass with salt (if preferred)
    3. Add all the ingredients to your cocktail shaker
    4. Shake & double strain into a chilled cocktail glass
    5. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge

    Steve I've been watching some of your previous cocktail videos and I can really tell you know a lot about mixology. You don't go cheap on your ingredients and always use the awesome stuff! Like in this video you used a pure agave Tequila and that's my go to brand next to Cazadores. You have respectable and exquisite palate!

      I've mainly make Tommy's Margarita's these days - th-cam.com/video/GhH-MMSsg64/w-d-xo.html ...but I use to make Classic Margarita's with only 15mL of Cointreau as I love that lime, this is definitely a more balanced recipe..

    Margarita is great, but the salt can really be a problem for some people. A way to do it is to only rim half the glas, so the customer can decide if he wants salt or not. May not look as good as yours though. Also it's a good idea to only put it on the outside of the glas by rotating the glas through the salt instead of dipping it in, that way you prevent unwanted salt in the drink. Looking forward to your next video.

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yeah, that's a good idea - I use to do that so that they would have the option... The salt rim does had to the visual appeal though..

      @grimlordmusiq7644 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the customer say salted rim, that’s what they get .. if they want it to be rimmed half way then they should say so

      I never really liked Margarita, partly due to the salt / but recently come up with a sweeter variation.
      2 measures of Tequila
      1 measure of Triple Sec
      1/2 measure fresh lime juice
      1/2 measure lime cordial
      Rim the glass with brown sugar.
      Still tastes like a Margarita - but just a bit mellower.

    Love your vids. Anyone got suggestion - when you make margarita at home and follow good recipe - its a good but strong and less volume drink compared to when you get it at restaurant. What else can be added to make it still a good but not as strong and more volume - Soda? Sprite? Lemoncello?

    Love the videos! Do you know of any lime-less version of a Margarita? Limes are hard to come by in my country.
    Also, I have a suggestion for future videos: could you maybe give a bit of a background on the history of the cocktail, what it pairs with, or even just any interesting story you have about it. I think it will give the videos a bit more substance, and it'd be fun to watch.

    • @JanusDarke1
      @JanusDarke1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll have a hard time to make many cocktails without lime. You could try to sub it with lemon if you can get your hands on some, but there is nothing to propery replace it. Is it only the whole fruit you're having problems with? Maybe you could get some shelf-stable juice or Roses lime cordial. Again, nothing really compares, but the cocktails should work more or less.

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As Janus suggested, try swapping for lemon juice if it's readily available... Or start a lime tree farm and become a lime dealer :|

    • @Morewater
      @Morewater 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah... Limes are available for only about 2 months at the end of summer here. No clue why. I usually replace with lemons and make up for the sourness with a 2/1 syrup instead of a simple one. Just wondered if there are other solutions or variations out there. Thanks for the reply.

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lemon & lime juice freezes well if you wanted to extend the availability of citrus juice... I'd always recommend fresh but if it isn't readily available then I'd suggest freezing some :-)

  • @gavindancy9776
    @gavindancy9776 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Awesome, that's just what I was looking for. I'd been having mixed results with a margarita recipe using grand mariner (not sure what I'm doing wrong but I just can't get the ratios right). So this can be my go to margarita. My group liked the Tommy's but I think they'll really appreciate a classic.

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What recipe were you using Gavin?

    • @gavindancy9776
      @gavindancy9776 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's 60 mL Tequila, 30 mL Grand mariner, and 45 mL fresh lime juice with some lime zest. From watching your videos I think the problem must have been me trying to skirt the "fresh" component of the lime juice. Thanks again for doing this. My friends have been really impressed and I've been telling everyone who will listen to look this channel up.

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try 60mL Tequila & equal parts Grand Marnier & fresh lime juicer (whether it be 22.5mL or 30mL).....
      What were you using for lime juice? Lime juice in a bottle? If so, you definitely won't get the same result - needs to be freshly squeezed =)

    • @gavindancy9776
      @gavindancy9776 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I'll give that a shot the next opportunity I get. Yes, I was using bottled lime and sometimes even those margarita mixers. My group enjoyed the margaritas we had last night. I also demoed the Japanese Slipper and the Amaretto sour and those were huge favorites.

    • @StevetheBartender_
      @StevetheBartender_  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll be blown away with the difference once you try fresh lemon/lime 👌
      Did you use the Amaretto recipe with a touch of bourbon (on the channel)? I find without the bourbon and using all amaretto is too sweet..
      Awesome to hear that your impressing the group 😁

      No simple syrup as there is enough sugar in the Cointreau to balance the sourness of the lime. I believe most recipes don’t have added sugar as it would make it quite sweet..

    • @marioelbros
      @marioelbros 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@StevetheBartender_ I believe most recipes have some kind of sweetener, being agave nectar or simple syrup. For this drink I agree with you about using a reposado instead of tequila blanco, but I prefer a better quality choice because the tequila is the main ingredient. Cheers.
