  • Robert Moore moves on from psychoanalysis into a spiritual reading of grandiosity, speaking of the need for faith, vision, and sacrifice. "All spiritual assertions are in some way idolatrous, because it's not possible for a human to speak perfectly about divine things."
    This is an exclusive recording of the 2003 Minnesota Men’s Conference. Register and attend the next Conference by visiting www.minnesotame...
    Founded by Robert Bly in 1984, the Minnesota Men’s Conference celebrates the telling of old stories, the gifts of poetry and music, and opening our hearts to grief, wildness, and joy. We all have a yearning for lives of richness and meaning; this weeklong conference is a unique opportunity to enrich ourselves in a community of other men.

    Seven key elements of spiritual transformation?
    1. Your need a vision of what is possible. @6:50
    2. You need a diagnosis of what's wrong for why you're not moving towards it. @8:00
    3. You need courage to face what might be possible for you. @9:10
    4. You need energy through faith to pull you together and stand into your life. @10:10
    5. Identify what is mediating your faith (including fantasy) @14:30
    6. Sacrifice is always a part, conscious or unconscious @19:50
    7. A communion with the great primal other @22:45

      I think he means if you stay focused only on what you're good at, it gives you energy, but your life won't be balanced and many men (who laugh) realize this danger, like addiction.

    For those who pay attention to what Robert Moore has said and reflect upon it deeply this lecture is nothing short of profound.

    I come back and revisit lectures given by the late Dr. Moore in hindsight of his tragic death by suicide. At 18:42 He says that "If you are noticing despair in your life you have got to attend to your faith...asap. Because if you don't attend to your faith asap, there's a certain finite period of time that you have before that despair will metastasize and take you down." Last time I visited news concerning his death, most of the reasons given were mostly speculative. For me, I think that Dr. Moore was intimately acquainted with the despair element that he spoke and wrote about during his career, and that despair finally came seeking sacrifice and he simply did not have the energy to offer anything other than himself.

      @Jamaal Richardson Thanks for sharing this tragic news. I knew of Dr Robert Bly, but not Dr Moore. I just heard one of his youtube videos on grandiosity. What a great intelligent person. I have read tons of books on spirituality and am beginning to understand - You can't give what you don't have. Meaning a lot of us can accumulate Intellectual Spiritual knowledge - BUT we MUST also CONNECT with the SOURCE to get our energy - like a Battery NEEDS to be Charged OR it will RUN OUT!!!! Most of the Western people who talk - read Saints like Rumi, Kabir, Farid - "do understand this wisdom INTELLECTUALLY - But you need to have that Spiritual CONNECTION - the PLUG into the Power Plant called God. ...I am Sikh - Like Most of people I don't get what our holy book says - because I don't have my OWN personal experience - I have knowledge but not the WISDOM or Connection through meditation - Sacrificing of the EGO

      Damn.. knew he died but didn't know it was suicide. Very humbling to see how great men can fall prey to these same forces. The devil is always knocking at the door

      Appreciate of the information of his passing. I dug further and it was a murder-suicide. It's sad to see a great man that helped many but unable to save himself. The message was delivered but the messenger was not delivered from the complex (shadow). Carl Yung frequently stated the inherent danger of embarking the psyche journey. Grateful for his contribution.

    [9:10] How to have courage

    • @Tamales21
      @Tamales21 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To have Courage you need Energy.
      Energy comes from Faith.
      Faith = hooked up to something that pulls you together/gives you juice.
      I don't understand this it's like spiritual bro science and won't blame anyone who blows this off as bullshit.

      You don't need a spiritual teacher in body. The spirit lives with you already. It up to the spirit to speak to you or not. That's the illusion of separation.

    • @riverocean4380
      @riverocean4380 ปีที่แล้ว

      You, the teacher and God are ALL same and 1. You being separated is an illusion to play the game. Just think where the thought comes from. You don't sit and create thought. It comes to you - but from where?

      There's an interview on youtube with Robert Moores niece with Eivind Skjellum from Reclaim Your Inner Throne, and the evidence from the scene (she has the official report from forensics) suggests it's unlikely that Moore pulled the trigger. Unfortunately apparently Chicago Police Dept are known to not be so thorough with many such cases.
