Took me more than an hour to just get through the first 25 min. Amazing. Thanks to all the soul searching and people studying of the past decade I can understand what Mr Moore is talking about. Deep gratitude sir.
A reduced and more immediate definition is: The Magus is one that can change the perceptions and world view of others. This can be for the good or evil. This can take on many forms and applications but all grouped under this archetypal category. The use of drugs, trance, interpretations of the will of the gods and physical prowess is what dominated in the Bronze Age, but beginning with the Axial Period the emphasis shifted to rhetorical persuasion especially among the Greek sophists. The shift is now most manifest by the decline of religious belief (as Nietzsche warned) and the rise of the scientistic "expert." Other manifestations in many cases are also through advertising, political leaders and party group-think, academics, criminal con men and pornography (the oldest and still the most potent.). The good news is that magical manipulation can only happen when and if we participate and give over sovereign power to another. Just be careful of getting too caught up in theory and jargon.
14:28 "The new age people are much more sensitive to this kind of issue, most of the creative work that has been done on re-appropriating the ritual process in the context of transformation has been done by new age types, thats the good news. The bad news is that they do not have the sense of evil and the shadow that the Jungians do."
I like how he's pretty positive on the ego's role. but ultimately, it all sounds like ebb and flow. the healthy flux of the psyche. interesting talk about the containers
Thanks for your reply. I cannot elaborate more than what I said initially, other than to say that a plain explanation is preferable to a deeper one. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar ("Mom" and "Dad" language) and facts should be kept in mind (abuse assertions.)
..archetypes: the current events in Ukraine and the middle east, religious wars, Jews, Christians, Islam, Muslims, Coptic, orthodox, protestants, Libya, Israel, Gaza, Ukraine. What is call the battle of civilization is mostly a battle of archetypes. A rerun of history, improved, at the same time creates a new view in time & space.

I appreciate Jungian psychology, but do not treat it as the ultimate yardstick of reflecting psychological reality. With that, the archetypes can act as convenient symbols and metaphors for psychological states. Also, the presenter errs in not recognizing that child abuse most usually comes from the boyfriends of single mothers, not from a child's father; and, husbands and wives call each other mother and father because they are using the jargon they use in front of their children.
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a condition characterized by difficulties regulating emotion. This means that people who experience BPD feel emotions intensely and for extended periods of time, and it is harder for them to return to a stable baseline after an emotionally triggering event. This difficulty can lead to impulsivity, poor self-image, stormy relationships and intense emotional responses to stressors. Struggling with self-regulation can also result in dangerous behaviors such as self-harm (e.g. cutting). It’s estimated that 1.4% of the adult U.S. population experiences BPD. Nearly 75% of people diagnosed with BPD are women. Recent research suggests that men may be equally affected by BPD, but are commonly misdiagnosed with PTSD or depression.

I really liked this lecture. He made me really wonder what a borderline is like and how to understand one organically.

What is a borderline as he keeps referring to it?

is it me or Robert Moore tries to explain everything by always setting the blame on grandiosity?
Because that the whole point to reach maturity we have to give up our grandiosity
