I'm 47,and love anything from three dog night, ambrosia, ELO,bee gees, Chicago,Pink Floyd,Rush, def Leppard, Duran Duran,Alice in chains, Soundgarden, kmfdm, nine inch nails, Seether, Shinedown, Metallica...God,you get the idea. I started making a list a while back of songs I basically know all the words too and in 20/30 minutes I was up to over 130. I had to just give up cause it was just getting crazy. I've had a musical soul since I was old enough to put my parents records on the player, put on their big koss pro headphones, and put the needle to the vinyl. I always thought it was so cool you could hear the music coming right from the needle. Man,young people don't realize what they are missing out on not getting to have the experience of playing records. From the big sleeve covered in pictures and art work,to watching the record spin, and just the physical involvement you put in. Really helped shape my absolute love for music.

VERY GLAD you reacted to this video. I always get goosebumps when I hear it. This tune came out when I turned 13. Many great memories of those days. I spent most of the weekends helping our neighbor restore their house. I learned a lot about carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical wiring, drywall, etc... Always had rock’n’roll on the radio.
Somewhere in the timeframe of 15 to 25 years ago, I met two members of ABBA. They had their YACHT, docked at Bayside in downtown Miami. Was just plain old serendipity of me being in the right place at the right time. I told them how much I enjoy their music and how important it was to my childhood years. Very nice, down to earth people.
Remember, for a long time, ABBA was the biggest export from Sweden. There was a time when they made more money for Sweden than Volvo. No joke.

This was an early ABBA song, long before the drama. The song is about the girl who has been a friend wanting you to take a chance on her. This is actually my sister's favorite ABBA song, and I admit, it is a great song. As for the drama, They got through the Agnetha and Bjorn breakup pretty well, but when Benny and Frida broke up, it was meltdown. Of course now, decades later they are on much better terms with each other. Benny, Bjorn, and Frida have done several public appearances with each other in recent years, and Agnetha has even done a couple, but her big concern has more to do with crowd anxiety than any past drama in the band.

To me, that does sound like she's saying "I'll be here when you've lost interest in the others". As Jamel notes, that isn't something you're likely to hear said these days. Your take, although I don't think that's what they intended when writing the song, is much more acceptable now. (It also has special appeal to me, as I'm presently in such a scenario... but that's another story.)

This song was released toward the end of ABBA. You are reading too much into the verses being autobiographical in terms of their relationships. The song had been cooking for years, and should be viewed in the general context, not that of the divorces.
ABBA is not really controversial. It is a unique part of pop music history, the magnificent voices, brilliant & catchy songwriting have been a groove for generations now and most certainly have stood up to the test of time and proven ABBA to be treasure. Just like the special “lightning in a bottle” of Motown or Surf music, ABBA is a sound that won’t be replicated as it was of the moment, crafted by extraordinary genius. Fortunately, we have the fabulous recordings and these promotional movies that were made to gain exposure and advertising across the English speaking world (ahead of the age of music videos that came much later) and of course a fashion sense that perfectly suited these gorgeous ladies and the times in which ABBA won the World with their touching, moving style of music you can dance to even if you don’t understand the words! “Thank you for the Music” Anni-Frid, Benny, Björn, and Agnetha ... you created joy with your music in ways few others ever have! 🎤🎹🎸🎤🎶💖🤗

Abba is my favorite group and this is my favorite song of theirs. For reaction videos I recommend reacting to what I think are their two best "live concert" performances. Why Did it Have to Be Me (from Abba the Movie - 1977). For that you will know you have the correct video if Frida (the one with darker hair) has a hat on and is in shorts and gold boots. Summer Night City from Abba in Concert (1979). This one has everyone in blue and purple costumes with a big set behind them of stylized triangular looking mountains. Though Abba did not like to tour they were excellent live performers that put it all out there and did it up right when they did it.
