Its a term used in Japan meaning guys that stay home all day playing video games and being lazy

    • @faha8812
      @faha8812 6 ปีที่แล้ว +79

Actually a 'Hikikomori' in Japan, is someone who choose to live their life in social isolation or with very limited social interaction. It is not simply 'being lazy' and indicates an underlying problem with social integration or mental health problem. I think there are a lot of reasons for this in Japan, for example, being bullied in school, undiagnosed autism or losing social skills after developing a mental health problem. That said, a hikikomori can develop a habit of playing video games (or any other kinds of hobbies that would let them escape reality) all night to past their time and sleep during the day etc.

@Proton Pkm because we don't speak "english" in America. We speak north 'American' tho English words are a lot of the language here we also us French, much Spanish, and some Japanese, and a little islander... that mainly comprises the American dialect of dialects.

@Proton Pkm I'm Swedish and I do my best to speak in a British accent.
What you said is very true.
A long, long time ago when my dad was still studying, his professor was becoming more and more frustrated with the assignments he was getting from my dad.
Then one day, the professor confronted my dad to apologize for not realising that he was writing in American English and not Proper English.
I don't know if you can tell or not but I am quite terrible at writing, and I believe my proper English have been contaminated with some American English.
Either way... I just wanted to say that you have a point, this is just a loosely written comment to solidify your statement.
May you have a good day or night depending on when you read this.

Hi misa could you do a lesson on using because ( kara) that would be great thanks

      lekameleon1 I can help!
when you use kara you put it after the clause
example: I didn't eat because I had class (Kara would go after the clause I had class
as in because I had class, I didn't eat

Not to undermine... Saki_LPS, as in the original sense, that's exactly what it means "because"...
For English speakers (and some others) I might point out that in the beginning, you can think of it as meaning "so"...
from the example above, "I had class (so) I didn't eat."
"Curassu wa arimashita (kara) tabemasen deshita." (approximately, I think)...
[Parenthetical use to show exactly how it works in grammar structure...]
Now, do keep in mind, this will only help in beginning stages of grammar. Sooner or later, as you work into the grammar structure of Japanese, you will have to focus authentically on vocab'... So "kara" still technically works as "because" in actual cases of usage. The nuance seems a little nit-picky here, but it can be trouble in more advanced cases. :o)

Super helpful video like all of Misa-sensei's. I would just point out the background music is rather a (not really welcome) distraction -it would be even better without it. No matter how basic the topic, you always manage to show interesting sides to it!
