- The BOOMco. Spinsanity 3X is a blaster from a toy line now long gone, even though it feels like yesterday. Even now, it feels like a breath of fresh air compared to modern NERF. BOOMco. had some of the better projectiles in a toy line, durable and accurate and just beat the stuffing out of the competition until Short Darts became way more accessible. Being a Flywheeler, it had decent mod potential, and it's design and aesthetic showed that BOOMco. had learned from it's past mistakes and was ready to do something real... until they got the Halo License, reshelled the Farshot into oblivion, and then quietly left us.

The Spinsanity was quite the quirky blaster. The idea of having the ability to reload a spent cylinder while having a loaded barrel pointed at your target is not something you see often. Ahh I miss boomco. Good times.

@@spacedout4061 the doominator was a springer and its cylinders weren't detachable so not the same thing you would only be able to shoot once at a target with it while slowly reloading a dart one at a time in its cylinders

Dangerous? Ah I see you’ve used Boomco for indoor wars too? The spinsanity was eventually banned from our indoor wars for being too much of a cheat. The Colossal Blitz saw action ONCE inside but 72 darts was just so broken that no one could touch it.
Boom co has a special place in my heart bc whenever I went over to my late friends house, we would play with the normal farshot all the time. Thank you for telling more people abt boom co. Keep up the amazing videos
I loved the Spinsanity, it was a comfy blaster. There wasn't a ton of "original" blasters, but there were some fun gimmicks.

I do remember often being interested in BoomCo blasters from the time they were introduced to the time they left the hobby, but attempting to fight Hasbro directly with a new ammo type not compatible with anything else was just brutal for Mattel, no matter how good the ammo type was. This was back at a time when getting third party ammo wasn't even that easy yet, let alone stuff as good as AF Waffles, so Hasbro just had a stranglehold on the dart market, meaning investing in a different ammo type seemed like a bad call for many of us. It ended up that the ammo being different was the reason why I never bought a single BoomCo blaster.
To be fair, since BoomCo is a Mattel property, I’m surprised they didn’t do many flywheelers because of their years of experience with another well known “flywheel”: Hotwheels Boosters

I love my Spinsanity, and my whole (sadly small) range of BoomCo blasters...especially fond of the BatGirl blasters Mattel did as the line went away, single-shot or three-shots at once. Lovely things. RIP BoomCo.
I actually got all the Halo boomco blasters. The needler one was pretty decent. I wish I could find a colossal blitz for less than the price of my kidney.
That's why I have two of them and I will have them forever... Though I would buy some knee pads to get my hands on an in box one.
My favorite boomco blaster was the funky springer with the clip that fed vertically and primed be rotating the whole handle. Felt so cool to operate it one-handed.
I remember seeing your breakflip video and immediatly going to target to buy one. Never fired one stock, instantly put in a new spring to make it SLAP!
I miss boomco...alot. soo much I even bought a buzzbee pirate musket and put an airsoft barrel into it and found out its the right size that it now shoots boomco darts, which is pretty cool tbh.
i have one of these, its awesome, i caught it on sale on amazon for $12 many many years ago, i think it was my first flywheel blaster, i loved boomco, still do
Yeah, i love the halo stuff they did! I have the magnum and the plasma pistol and they're both made incredibly well! Especially the magnum! That thing is hearty and comfortable too! Feels powerful! Shame we don't see any more of that dart as i feel it could have been interesting going foward with new stuff! Good stuff, man! 😁👍🏻
I had a boomCo gun when I was younger and god I loved it. I played with it much more then my nerf guns, I really wish they stayed around. They were so cool.

When you're talking about any kind of projectile there's two main factors. Velocity and Mass, Nick foam darts you really can't get neither too much velocity they break apart and they're not heavy enough to stay accurate over a certain distance.
Don't forget air resistance. Boomco straws flew farther because of the smaller diameter, but also because air rushing past foam stops it more than air rushing over that smooth boomco straw body
Let's not forget that it was way more fun to say "BOOOOOM-CO" than it is to say "nerf".
Kept my my Halo Magnum and AR and thrifted a solid number of straws. Great pinker and for closet cosplay.

ahhhhhh boomco- I'll be running my boomco breakflip every war i go to. Makes it easy to get my ammo at the end of the day, since im the only one running straws :)

I still own a boomco halo k26 magnum and it holds up to this day as an accurate single-shot blaster. Awesome video as always.

I owned a BoomCo gun for a while... God that takes me back to darker times in my life, back when my depression was kicking in, and my bad experience at secondary school had begun... God I'm so happy I'm past that.
Anyone here have memories of the time they had a BoomCo? And hopefully acquired one at a better time than I did?
Man, I had that Spinsanity, loved it. And then my nephews 'borrowed' it, lost all the darts, and let me know after the fact. Getting more darts is evidently harder than rolling Sisyphus' boulder, so ah well...

BoomCo was just ahead of it's time. A big complaint was that the darts "weren't standard". Now we live in an age of Elite, half darts, mega, ultra, rival, hyper, rockets, and something else I may have missed?
I kinda regret not getting a boom co blaster when I could, specially a Halo one
I grabbed a Plasma Pistol from a Toys R’ Us, and I loved it. Then I grabbed a bunch when the local TRU went out of business.
RIP in peace Boom Company. I’d still use my Halo pistol if I had more ammo for it

BoomCo values on the secondary market have actually gone up quite a bit in the last few years.
I will always love my pump up one that fires like an absolute Gatling gun simply because while it’s a pain in the ass to reload it shoots faster than anything I ever had
i still hate that we have to use plastic straws when there are still titanic sized fish nets being dragged through and dumped in the ocean

I miss BOOMco. A LOT. I covered it for Blaster Labs (Hub) back in the day and even gave one of their products a "best of the year" award (Rapid Madness--freaking AIR POWERED and 10 darts per second!). I blame Mattel management for the line's demise... sure, the "sticky" technology was too much of a gimmick, as were many other elements like the shields, but the dart design was good, and they had so much performance potential. They just didn't get the financial backing they needed to make inroads in the market. Such a shame. RIP, BOOMco.

i used to own a far shot, when the darts got lost i rebarreled it for nerf and it was one of my best blasters. UUUntil it cracked the shell around the plunger tube front end. but i will say that using a Crayola marker as a barrel for nerf worked SURPRISINGLY well
I still love my Flipbow, my M6 and double-springed Dynamag. I like to take them to indoor wars at the local college to weird everyone out with the "funky straw things"
I remember my 120 fps farshot having almost the same range as my 200 fps halfdart longshot. It's practically cheating and I love it
The aesthetic of this blaster is all types of things I like.
The airpowered boomco blaster with the insane fire rate is still ridiculous fun

I picked up a Rapid Madness from Boomco some years ago myself, with a whole bunch of extra clips. I had intended to mod the clips to seal up the air gaps to get the darts to shoot a bit further, but the two tests I did resulted in some of the darts getting stuck pretty badly, so I never got around to the others. It was a nifty air pump rapid fire thing, though.
Ever try hooking one up to an air tank after modding? Man I miss that one, should have never let it go.
boomco was shut a great brand.. the only thing that really killed them was dart locks.. and they didnt even try to be cross compatible other than that the blasters were solid bricks that felt good to use.. unless you had bigger hands
I know one toy store in the mall that has Boomco. But it's only 1 copy of Twisted Spinner.
A few years ago I also saw a Railstinger half off in a Go Calendar store. For all I know it could still be there.
I've always wanted to get a BOOMco. blaster ever since I found a straw dart from my old house cleaning days. Alas, with the passage of time, they and the shipping get more and more expensive.

Another thing I love about boomco is the airblasters they made. The rapid madness is a better magstrike, and unlike the buzzbee destiny you can actually find the damn thing, but nobody wants a dead end ammo type. Someone should totally design a 3d printed shell for it that uses short darts!

Honestly, I boomco and vortex so much in my opinion, the boomco was so much better than nerf other than maybe the vortex line
I still have my boomco plasma pistol and it's still kicks to this day, the darts are so fast that they oftenly bounce off where ever I'm aiming at. I've willing to sell it along with the mr6 halo pistol.

The problem is, Boom Co came out during Nerf prime, it couldn't compete. If Boom Co came out at the start of this year, it would have outclassed Nerf in every single way

The Spinsanity is the one Boomco i really liked and wanted, and do in fact own. 30 on board capacity is pretty good; and i love the concept of having several of the little cylinders to be able to swap out on the fly.
Sadly i have but the standard 3 cylinders, and no boomco darts (i dont think). Still -- a cool and unique blaster none the less. Id love to see Nerf or Dartzone make a blaster with hand held sized swappable cylinders like this

I'm surprised someone hasn't made the ammo but nerf caliber...or mod nerf to take BOOMco rounds. guessing it was a little bit too complicated to make it worth it.
There are a few who have done it, you just need to look for it.
Not sure about the nerf caliber thing, but Boomtendo made his own third party Boomco darts. He's converted quite a few Nerf blasters to take Boomco rounds too. Probably the only Boomco fan left trying to bring Boomco back from the dead.
Lots of people have modded the hammershot to take 10 boomco rounds instead of the normal 5, but then again, you have 30 round half dart inline cylinder hammershots, so they quickly get outclassed. plus, boomco darts have become rarer due to the lineup being killed off the shelves, so not many people have enough to warrant 1. making a blaster specifically for boomco darts and 2. taking that to a war

When I saw the thumbnail. I thought "oh, so Mattel ripped off the Buzz Bee Barbarian". And then when you said flywheel, I thought, "OMG, Mattel made a manual flywheel Barbarian!".
Seriously I love the Barbarian, but if it had a manual flywheel instead of a HAMP like the Zombiestrike RevReaper, it would be OP.

boom co made a 2016 ghostbusters blaster that I never saw in stores but would be cool to see a review on.
Case in point, don't use a rubber
I really miss the clips. They were way cooler than magazines are, they held more ammo in the same space and you could store ammo in them without worrying about springs wearing out.
I wish we got some nerf-caliber clips, I'm not a fan of magazines and having to carry stuff on me but I would definitely reconsider that approach if we got some good clips and blasters.
Something like Mad Slammer but with a trigger, a stock and extra clips would be amazing.

I actually prefer the boomco needler over the Nerf one at least mechanical wise. The Nerf one aesthetically is good, but the boomco one is the right size, and more accurate.
Also my first modded gun was a skeleton BOOMco farshot. I removed the ammo detector, and sanded all the labeling off
Boom Co. was the best!
