  • In this video we’re getting into the nitty and the gritty on the new Brooks Hyperion - a lightweight non-plated training shoe that’s built for speedy sessions. It's an interesting shoe that drops in cheaper than the plated Brooks Hyperion Max. And asks: do we really need plates to train fast?
So is it any good? Hit play on our Brooks Hyperion review to find out…

The original Hyperion Tempo is my favourite road shoe. Light, comfortable, responsive, well cushioned for me and durable. I’ve found them great for marathons (ran 3 in them) and 10k/shorter races. Use them for nearly all of my road runs too, mainly faster paces where they’re at their best. Wasn’t sure how different the new shoe is from the original, so I bought another pair of the HT on sale, in case Brooks ruined it (doesn’t sound like it from this review).

Seems similar to, but much more expensive than, the Puma Liberate Nitro

Would like to see a comparison between this and the Liberate Nitro 2

Hoping they do it in a 2e wide fit 🤞

The Hyperion max is (surprisingly )roomier overall by the way than this one.

Asics Magic Speed 3 and Brooks Hyperion are priced exactly same here in India. Does it make sense if we consider the price?, I mean why would I care for a non-plated trainer when I am getting a plated trainer for the same price?

My HT's are 226g for a 10. How is this an upgrade? 🤔

Is this kind of the Hyperion Tempo v2? I liked the Tempo untill my legs got too used to the plush and more modern lightweight trainers.

This is the Hyperion tempo 2. But to keep it easy for the entire lineup the name was changed to Hyperion.

Lightest in Brooks line up but 10g heavier than the Max ?

"Lightest daily trainer in the Brooks line-up". That'a according to Brooks who are positioning the Max as more for racing. Though we're not sure that's where we'd put it.

@@TheRunTesters I really like the Max as a lightweight trainer. I have raced in it and like it for that. I haven't adapted well to stiff, plated shoes and don't like spongy. I'm not sure why I would get the Hyperion over the Hyperion Max - the Max is lighter, more stack, and will probably last longer - other than saving some money.

You said sz 9 was too long yet that the fit and lockdown was good. If your heel and midfoot aren’t slipping laterally, why not have some extra room in the toes?

    • @TheRunTesters
      @TheRunTesters  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

It just feels every so slightly disconnected with the extra length. Front of the shoe doesn't quite come with you as it would with less length.

@@TheRunTesters G2K. The big toe is important in providing propulsion. I'm coming from a standpoint that I think many runners wear running shoes that are too small. My running shoes are a full size (US) larger than my street shoes. I run more trails than roads. As long a I can get that midfoot lateral snugness, I'd rather go long that short. I've only had black toenails once. That came from running the Grand Canyon in shoes that I knew were 1/2 size too small.

The Adios 8 but for the Brooks faithful, and more expensive, heavier, and most likely wont last as long. 😂

Hyperion Tempo had a 31/23 stack for 8mm drop. Is the successor really 22/14?? That seems odd.

Doctors of Running have them at 28/20 which sounds more accurate

I think, for some reason, Brooks has been insisting on giving out the foam-only measurements.

This seems like a strange shoe. It's not got as high a stack height as other trainers such as the Endorphin Speed, or even the Takumi Sen, yet it's still just as heavy.
