    Lost 60Lbs

Based on research which has shown that cancers grow more slowly on a keto diet, I put our 13 year old golden retriever on keto several months ago after she had surgeries for 4 mass cell tumors in 2 months. Since then she has had no more visible tumors, and surprisingly her fur shedding, which had always been a problem, has been reduced by about 90%. Apparently, keto is good for dogs as well. Update after 10 months on the diet - still no more tumors. Vet recently did an ultrasound and some biopsies and found nothing internally either.

I’ve been eating less and less veggies and went carnivore a few days ago and magically my IBD symptoms went away! I don’t have gut pain anymore. For the past few days I’ve been only eating beef in steak and ground forms. The crazy thing is when I looked up info about foods someone with IBD should eat, they tell you to avoid red meat as it will cause a flare up. Now I will say only do organic or grass fed, mostly grass fed. The chemicals in non organic meat will cause problems. But it’s crazy how the food that heals the gut, all health folks and websites tell you to avoid, including my pcp and gi. When I told my doctor I was having problems a few months ago, they did all sorts of tests and found out nothing was wrong. I told them sugar makes me sick and they told me to avoid it then I mentioned I can’t do fruit but eat white rice. They told me I was sensitive to sugar but fail to understand that glucose in white rice is sugar! My pcp said white rice was better for me and I should avoid red meat! When I first had my flare up they told me to eat the brat diet which is banana, rice, apples, toast… that baffles me because all the foods in brat diet cause IBD and other array of problems. 🤦‍♂️ Drs are so ill informed on nutrition.

You must keep in mind that doctors are just like garage mechanics or any other businessman. In order to make more money they will keep telling you something is wrong. Nothing proves this more than the 'plandemic' and doctors pushing the masks and vax. I was on high cholesterol and blood pressure medicine. Went KETO and in one year was off everything plus my dry skin cleared up. My doctor said whatever you are doing keep it up. I said well, I'm not listening to your advise. They make money prescribing meds and useless office visits. I remember the day when they came to your house. That's when they really cared about you.

Doctors generally only get one class on nutrition in their whole academic life, they are not experts and rely on protocols handed down from on high, unless they specialise in nutrition but nutrition is the cinderella of medicine, no kudos.
You probably know more than your GP who is restricted by protocols.

I asked my bullfighter fried why all the wealthy were lean, or even skinny, and the poor, in the small villages fat? His reply was because they couldn’t afford to eat meat, and cold only eat bread! The message was loud and clear , proven decades later. As an American I pay an asinine amount of money for healthcare and insurance. The worst part is it's all based on the foundation of outdated science and nutrition. I would gladly pay the amount of money I waste each paycheck for my insurance and the amount of money I pay for office visits if I could have someone as qualified as Dr Paul. Where do we find educated doctors that are willing to admit what they learned as the foundation of their practice is no longer true?

      Day 1: 2/10 pain.
Day 2: 4/10 pain. Craving carbs. Fell off wagon & had a few mouthfuls of salad, then back on wagon again.
Day 3: 8/10 pain. Feel like I might die. Nauseous. Couldn’t eat all day until 8pm. Shakey. Feels like a temperature even though it’s not.
Day 4: 6/10 pain, general serious malaise. Can’t get out of bed almost all day- can barely walk to toilet I’m so ill- feeling extremely unwell.
Day 5 (Thurs): 5/10 general fatigue but possible to work for 10 mins at a time & possible to watch tv for 30 mins
Day 6: 1/10 constant headache, pounding behind eyes, stomach cramps with 100% pain. Eye pain at 100%, thought I might go blind, head ache at 100% thought I might drop dead, Stomach ache with 100% pain. Pain is all so bad I could not sleep or stay awake, or move. Could not work or relax. Ended up in hospital. Had to stop the carnivore diet at 9pm & eat some carbs just to make sure it’s only keto flu & not something life-threatening. Within 10 mins of eating carbs all my symptoms dropped by 90% & I was fine again.

Of course I don’t know the long term effects that it will have on my body but I can tell you in 10 years of painful autoimmune symptoms, I finally felt relief. I tried being vegan for three months and it was impossible. I have celiac so no gluten whatsoever. Gluten is the most common thing used to replace meat like texture in plant based foods so don’t tell me it’s healthier than a meat based diet.

To marissa I developed gluten issues in my 20s. Then had to start monitoring what i eat even more, since many additives in foods caused issues, like severe headaches and foggy head. So after 14 years of crossing veggie stuff off one by one, everything besides meat seemingly, gave me headaches and chronic fatigue. So everyone here trying to help and telling you to replace one problematic grain with some other. that is not helping. You helpers maube try the 30 day carnivore challenge, and then come and comment. I tried the veggie diet, everything to get my health to super - and everything i was told by the mass media, brought me here, where i finally feel absolitely my best, i have no daily headaches, migraines, chronic pain. Meat is the only thing that contains irreplacable stuff (aminoacids). By day 26 on carnivore, i was free from all anxiety and depression. So please, all the helpers, replace all your veggie stuff with meat, for minimum 30 days. All the best to you all and to Marissa too!

I had no digestive issues despite my family has a genetic tendency. I had no vitamin deficiencies no chronic disease no significant issues with my health. As a biologist I also believe we started as carnivore and evolved to omnivore in order to stay alive on plants in the lack of animal resources. We have canine teeth and one piece stomach as a base. our jaw, teeth and intestines had changed so that we can survive but in any case we cannot digest cellulose which is the main sugar in plants and we cannot tolerate lectins.

APO-B. Don't ignore it. This fool in the video ignores APB-B.
Forget big fluffy LDL-P because the science says they are all bad when the numbers are highly elevated.
Saturated fat is good for you in small doses because it helps absorb the vitamins. But a lot of It raises LDL-P.
Depending on the person it can be much much higher or not as high.
The same goes for dietary cholesterol. Most people will not see any difference in cholesterol levels with dietary cholesterol. But there are about 20% on each side that are hypo absorbers and hyper absorbers. Hypo absorbers can eat as much as they like and it won't make a blind bit of difference . Where hyper absorbers have to be a lot more careful with their cholesterol intake. There is a test that you can have to check for the specific genes.
Go easy on the meat and dairy
Always get the full fat instead of low fat but go easy on it.
It's all bullshit that high LDL is OK.
The biggest VLDL is around 80nm. The so called big fluffy LDL is much much smaller. Anything under 70nm can make its way into the walls of your arteries.
The science says the number of LDL-P matters and not the size.
Yes smaller is worse but they are all risky.
You only have to look at the comments on all the keto TH-cam videos to see LDL rocketing is the number 1 concern for a lot of people on a keto diet. Do not fall into this bullshit trap that it's ok because it's big and fluffy. There is no reason whatsoever to be in constant Ketosis. eat some unrefined carbs like porridge in the morning with some almond butter in it. It's common sense to have a balance of everything . Check out what Lipidoligist Thomas Daysping says about Cholesterol. He is an expert in Lipids and ignore this flat earther mentality. The BIG problem with a keto diet in the over consumption of saturated fat. The saturated fat is abused and because people are seeing good results they thinks it's because of the saturated fat. Problem is their APO-B is sky rocketing and they are not even aware of how risky this is.
One last thing. People say oh but I got a calcium score and it was 0. Well a calcium score won't show soft plaque. You would only know if you have advanced atherosclerosis.
This fella is totally arrogant. He calls himself Dr but tells you your Dr is clueless, and he totally ignores what the latest science is saying. Non HDL and APO-B are better predictors of risk than Triglyceride/HDL. Stop playing Russian roulette with people's lipids.

Doctors don't want to go against the standard procedures laid down by their medical authorities. It's important for them that if a patient unexpectantly dies whilst under their care, that they followed the industry recommendations, (even if those recommendations are wrong). Legally, they are still covered and don't risk losing their license to practice. Prescribing the 'correct' procedure and/or improving patient health, is secondary. This is why Doctors are still recommending statins and low fat diets, even though research now clearly shows this is quite wrong, will worsen outcomes, reduce life expectancy.

I am planning to consciously introduce more healthy animal products afterward. I am excited about the possibility of having a more balanced intake of essential nutrients and a more ketone rich blood stream. I do eat generally once a day beginning late afternoon and try to cease by seven or eight PM. I’ve been eating this way for years now so that it seems normal, and some days if I’m not hungry I simply don’t eat. I was raised in the country on a farm at a time when having your own livestock and vegetable gardening was common and was isolated from processed and fast food influx so it seemed alien and still does seem so out of touch. Dr Mason is a very intelligent and learned man. Profound admiration for him, and indeed all these trailblazers challenging the status quo. I believe most doctors are trying to do the best for their patients, but such a complex disease as diabetes is not always easy for the lay person to grasp, and many just want a pill to ‘fix’ it. Education needs to happen before full-blown diabetes manifests, but for many of us this doesn’t happen. I had no idea I was on the way to ttd until I was actually diagnosed with it. I’d put on a lot of weight in my very stressful job, developed high blood pressure and then high cholesterol, but no doctor thought to tell me I was pre-diabetic, so I never got the chance to avoid it. I was very disappointed.

I hear this question a lot - how can you live on a keto/carnivore/low carb/vegan diet for the long term. Well for a lot of people, illness or death is a pretty good motivator. For instance, if you have Type 2 diabetes, going low to zero carb so that you get off progressively higher doses of insulin and having to constantly check your blood sugar, calculate your carb load and inject yourself, while hoping you don't over inject and have a hypoglycemic reaction (not to mention a potential future that includes amputations and heart attacks), living with a lack of food "diversity" becomes pretty sustainable.
If you're someone like Mikhaila Peterson, with severe food allergies and arthritis and a world of living your decades of you life in absolute pain and misery, and then find going strict carnivore allows you to live pain and symptom free, how hard a choice really is it. And she'll still questions of "oh but don't you miss eating normal?" Like do you miss so much pain in your body that you can't move out of bed? SMH.
Even something as simple as the Whole30 diet, which is only done for 30 days, and tv shows will have aghast nutritionist come on about how horrible it to expect people to live without sugar for a month. Yeah, motivation is a key to whether someone show do a certain diet, but to paint with a broad stroke, how can some well educated people be so dense?

I have one big white onion, garlic, two delcatas (squashes), and some coconut milk in fridge. I will finish my last half box of pasta and Alfredo sauce on Columbus Day. Then it is eggs, butter, sardines, chicken, and beef for me. I expect to lose weight, eliminate arthritis, and have good blood readings by July 2021, 9 months from today.

About the body stealing calcium from its bones if the diet is calcium deficit...absolutely TRUE. I have a friend who was anti-dairy, and during her pregnancy her teeth suddenly became weak and several broke into pieces. Prior to becoming pregnant, she had recently visited the dentist, had x-rays and a cleaning and her teeth were in great shape. Her body needed extra calcium to create the baby, and extracted it from her molars.

This year, I was disappointed to hear from my dentist that I have bone loss in my jaw. I hadn't gone to the dentist since 2017 and they didn't tell me I had bone loss 4 years ago.
I'd been drinking dairy milk all my life, up until 2016-2017, when I switched from dairy milk to almond milk, because I believed milk was giving me constipation, bloating and acne.
For all I know, that could have been due to eating sugar and carbs.
Now, since I'm trying to cut sugar and carbs, I'm wondering if I should go back to drinking dairy milk.

My husband and I went on a whole food plant based diet 10 months ago because he had an episode of high blood pressure that caused confusion and the inability to process conversation or information. He was in the hospital for 3 days until his blood pressure dropped to less than 150 and held there. I cleared our house of all processed foods and cook everything from scratch using no salt. His blood pressure has remained in a good range. But we found we couldn't give up milk and butter - so it appears we were doing something right! I'm definitely going to put meat back in our diet! Thank you for such a thorough and thoughtful discussion on this subject.

I had an extended "conversation" with an "animal rights" activist/vegan not long ago. And it was this one point about how many animals and habitats are destroyed by plant agriculture. The one area that seems to make militant vegans squirm is that all those soy and grain products that make up so much of their diet are killing not just the field mice by animals of prey all up the food chain when their source of food disappears. And that doesn't even address the genetic modification for disease resistance and the pesticides that are drained into the water table. Also, as I point out to particularly evangelical vegans, world hunger can not be solved by a vegan diet. There are many untillable terrains that can't support farming but that can support animals suited those climates/terrains such as goats and other ruminants. It's a first world view that can only be embraced if you assume everyone lives a few blocks from a Whole Foods and has that kind of coin to lay down.

    • @highcarbwarrior1720
      @highcarbwarrior1720 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Vegans are not promoting soy and grain industrial agro farming production. It may they switch to foods from there because they want to reduce their immediate carbon foot print. However in the long run educated and active vegans recognise exactly what you said as the dangers of such farming practises. That being said, in a world where the majority of grain and soy are grown for animals feeds, what you said applies for for animal food consumption. Yes veganism isnt practical everywhere, it's practical in may places in the world. Locally produced seasonal plant foods with minimal damage to the environment and lowest carbon footprint.
Regarding first world, this is nonsense. In many developing countries say Asia, societies have robust local agriculture producing native fruits and vegetables. From India to Indonesia to China, no they don't need to live next to Whole foods, they have local markets with plenty of plants. What they do not need is first world dietary evangelism.
Sure some indigeneous cultures eat meat etc. I am glad to see many first world citizens use them as examples considering the the continuous threats those cultures face from Western govt and industry, sure vegans are the problem

      @dreamingrightnow1174 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@highcarbwarrior1720 "Vegans are not promoting soy and grain industrial agro farming production. " They don't "promote" it, but they consume it. Their diet is made up of grains from large manufacturers (while they rage against the it's corollary, the meat industry. Difference being small ranches producing animal products humanely is a thing, supplemented by individuals who can raise chickens, goats, ducks etc on a very small bit of land. I haven't heard of a back yard movement ot grow your own grains yet.. And the big part of a vegans diet is fruit which usually gets shipped from 100s or 1000s of miles away. And this is all in the (over)developed world. There are many countries in Africa, Asia and the middle east that have heavily taxed natural resources, especially the water and soil. Have you been to Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iraq? China is only a part of Asia. Not even sure what that last paragraph is about, was that just a copy and paste from a paper you had write? But just in case you meant to put it there: the point isn't that vegans are the problem, it's that they aren't (despite claiming it) the solution.

The point of epidemiology and resulting correlations and associations is supposed to be to generate new QUESTIONS and hypotheses so that interventional studies can be designed and implemented to test those hypotheses and questions. Epidemiology was never originally intended to generate conclusions, but that is what food companies and the media love to do nowadays. Any time someone tells me "meat is associated with this or that problem" I say "Yes, and Firefighters are associated with fires."

The medical model in the U.S. is the same as in Australia. There is NO focus on nutrition at all. And in regard to what was mentioned about de-prescribing, I have had to do this completely on my own. I now eat a ketovore diet, mostly meat as well. So I basically took myself off of a statin drug - Atorvastatin (Lipitor), and have been tapering myself off of Gabapentin, Klonopin, and Trazadone. Hasn't been the easiest thing, but I'm determined. My doctor doesn't mind that I'm doing this, but he certainly doesn't encourage it! If we don't take our health into our own hands, we will continue to get sicker, and the doctors here certainly aren't going to do anything more than keep adding prescriptions.

I very much appreciated this video. I went to a place they call "Lifeline Screening" where they did many medical tests for me. At the time I went, I had been Keto for about 16 months ( and had lost about 65 lbs). So, according to these tests, I have no concern for Aortic Aneurism, A-fib, various circulatory issues, bone loss issues... my biggest 'question' for health risk was that I was still about 70 lbs overweight. But when they did the blood test for my cholesterol... the technician looked at my numbers and said to me, "I have to re-do the test because these numbers don't make sense." I asked her, "what are you seeing?" It said that my main number of cholesterol was slightly high (I think it was about 225). My HDL was quite high and my triglycerides WOULD NOT READ... as it was too low, meaning, below 50. I told her, "oh yeah, I expected that... It's the Keto diet." So she did the test again anyway, and got the SAME result... LOL. I love it!!
