Cute little boys. They're all grown up and in they're 40s if they are still around. I was only 7 at the time and living in Huntley in Mchenry County. I would start living in Rockford in the spring of 2001. I don't live on Harrison Avenue though.
Thank-You for your comment. I'm one of those boys and doing well. 42 today. I have no idea the whereabouts of the others though as it was a long time ago. Also after thinking about it further this may have been the McDonalds on Mulford Rd just North of state on the Left. Of course it's been completely redone now.
I would've been turning 5 that year in March, so these kids are my peers. I remember how nice and safe things felt for kids. A lot of things and places catered to children in such ways. Of course there were horrors in the world like there are today, but there was a bit of effort to protect us from them or at least the knowledge of them. The experience, for me, was a very positive one all from the perspective of a child in a middle-class military family. Beautiful times, but things change. We have to find out to construct beauty in the present and in the future. It's up to us.
Very joyful positive experience during that time for me as well. Indeed now it's our turn to show our own kids and the next up and coming generation good and better times as well. There's a lot of evil to deal with in the world today.
This brings back so many good memories. I worked there from '86 to '89 (not this actual location). This video nails it. I knew every piece of equipment and every nook and cranny of my McD's. Those grills, bun toasters, fryers, coolers, condiment dispensers, I knew them all. Great video. And those McDLTs! I made hundreds of them!
The big reason why McDonalds remodeled and did the McCafe's and went the modern Starbucks route was to appeal to the now adult Gen-xers and older Millennials like you see in this video as kids. Most of the Happy Meals and playgrounds that you saw appealed to that generation and getting the Boomer parents to take these kids there because the parents had the money in the 80's and 90's. Starting in 2005 the now college Millennials and adult Gen-xers were not kids anymore so McDonalds decided to go the Starbucks route with the McCafe and appeal to them with the Forever Young remodel starting again in 2005. The sad part is that the playgrounds, and Ronald McDonald and friends, and Happy Meals fell off the way side. We would love to have that back, but McDonalds decided go a different a route which was a bad idea.

This was a Tuesday and I was 24 years old. I had just moved to Tennessee from Illinois 11 months before. I worked at the McDonald's in Dolton IL in 1981. All the guys look so nice and clean and Cleanly shaved not covered in nasty tattoos.
It's hilarious how when men are watching kids they run up slides backwards and jump on moving merry go rounds and the dads just stand there and keep talking like "oh well..." LOL! I've got videos of me being watched by my dad when I was a kid and we were tearing up jack and my dad was just laying there watching tv not worrying about it. The 80's ruled. LOL!

I remember when I was in kindergarten or class took a field trip to McDonald's I remember I didn't care about the tour I just cared about playing in the ball pit and slide and them giving us cookies with milk
I remember the good ole' 80s style McDonald's as a 7 year old kid. I currently work at McDonald's now, and it's a pretty good job. But it's sad to see that the "happiness" has faded away. When my local McDonald's remodeled in 2016, they removed all of the playgrounds, and made it into a cafe style place. There is a small playground inside, however it's closed due to COVID. But that playground never compared to the original one. They even had small merry go rounds, which they removed in 2010.

Before the bike path was a thing and the corner of charles and alpine was a gas station.. We knew the family that owned it/ran it. They run the uhaul behind papa johns across the street
@@xAKALISx That's Awesome, thanks for sharing. Got to wonder if we ever ran into each other or knew each other. I started AC Thompson in Kindergarten in 1987 and was there until roughly 1992. I grew up down just off of Charles st. in the Maple-Wood subdivision near the quarry. Used to get my haircut at Alpine Barber shop. Many stores no longer around there like Pet Center, Radio Shack, Ann's Pizza, and of course Eagle Foods.
Did you recording this on 1987?
Yes this was recorded in 1987 by my father. I'm one of the little boys.
@@Blahbevava Oh and my dad recording in 2013 :) so what is your color shirt?

Teaching kids about minimum wage jobs. My goals were higher than that.
I don't think the intention was serious. It was simply something fun to see for 5 year olds.

Wow she was annoying i bet the kids thought so too they were probably like why is she yelling at us
Nah she was alright...
You will not able to take your kids behind the front counter these days. Safety hazard
You can barely breath in this country anymore without it being tracked, logged, regulated, and taxed.
@@Blahbevava you will be fired if you took customers to the cash office.
