I did this years ago to and old screen door frame then backed it with a mirror and hung it sideways in my dining room. Everyone that comes in the house loves it!
Excellent
💜 I'm so glad Google brought this up. I have some signs I want to do more than just paint. One with a beach theme, this will be perfect, especially stenciled. Ty everyone 🙂
Have fun!
Im in NewZealand, I so enjoy watching you craft, I find your accent so relaxing.
Thanks so much 😊
I've done this many times in the past. Gravity is one enemy. Multiple strokes will blend glue and paint. Wrecking the crackle. Large pieces of furniture can be challenging . I actually did a wall. But would never, never do that again. But it was on a farm house. Owners were willing to gamble.
Yes works best on a flat surface
Excellent tutorial. Sadly I was at the office and I couldn't watch but I am catching up now. Thank you so much. I've always been crackled challenge but now I think I can master this with your help thank you
You can do it!
Excellent. Thank you. Australia . Denise :)

Hi. I am so happy you shared an inexpensive way to do crackle on glass. I am working with a small glass vase and Elmer glue will do very well. Thanks again.

Hello from East Central Georgia,USA
I just love your videos. I have done majority of them. I’m making signs for a garden club sale to donate. We are a non profit and we give money to a lot of organizations that help people and animals. We do a lot of fund raisers to earn the money. I love it. I’m in West Carrollton, OH it’s south suburb of Dayton.
So glad to help out ❤️
this is how i plan on redoing my kitchen cabinets. much cheaper than a brand new kitchen and all the cabinet door fronts were boring. After that I plan to stencil on some country charm.
Greetings from Kansas!

Hello there!
Hello, fellow ONtarian . . . ok, former fellow ONtarian, as we just moved to New Brunswick . . .
I rarely comment on videos, but thought I would today. I am subscribed to your channel and just love your easy, not-too-quick, tutorials! I like on this video how the orange crackle technique using GLOSS didn't quite turn out and you weren't inclined to delete from the video. I really like how you kept the "FAIL." Because life is like that -- doesn't always go as planned! lol
Just thought I'd share how much I enjoy your channel, in its simplicity and without alot of overdubbed, annoying, music. I find your channel to be a great distress reliever, lol, as I follow your distressing techniques. (That was a bad -- really baad -- pun . . . lol) Your style is in line with my decorating taste and crafty inclination! Keep up the great videos.
Hi there from Ontario so glad you’re enjoying my videos and happy to have you following along. You can never have too many crafting friends. Hope you find lots of great content.❤️
Don't forget your home, Ontario, Canada!! (Prince Edward County) (I am subscribed) I did this technique on a recycled, rectangular window frame in white, yellow, dark turquoise, topping with burgundy. I then painted a metal scrolled piece matte black and attached it into the centre of the open frame. It looks amazing on my wall! **** I am VERY interested in how to make a clear crackle effect that I can put over a couple of wall pictures to make them more authentic and antique. Do you have a video on that? Thank you!!
Hello from Paris TN.
Hello there!
Will it work with latex paint? Thanks.
Yes it will. It’s not quite as nice as a chalk paint though.
Interesting. I was wondering is there a clear chalk paint? So I can make the cracks bigger by using more glue?

Hello from O'Fallon, IL!
Try using gesso on glass.....it will provide a better surface texture and it will stick to the glass.
Great tip
What's gesso please?
interessant merci

Hello there!
Is sealing required once the wood project with the crackel is completed? Rust-Oleum,varathane or mod podge?
I always like to use water-based poly acrylic sealer

Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed.
I really did!!!!
I have a dark wooden picture frame I want to do the crackling effect to, do I need to paint over the frame first then continue with the glue & chalk paint?
Yes that would work best
This was a great tutorial. I was confused on how to use the crackle, but you made it very clear. I will be getting some Elmer’s glue now. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I was wondering if Elmers glue & then spray paint over it would crackle?
Worth a go!
Hi, Can you use this on the clear plastic Christmas bulbs?

Hello there!
Do you paint the wood black first
Yes you can I like the aged look it gives
I just spray painted a bunch of scrap wood in different colors for a base coat.
If I glue on top and acrylic paint on the glue will the spray paint base coat crackle through?
Thanks
California gal here!
Yes it should
Can you do this technic with a paint wash to get a transparent crackle?
I have not tried that
Hello!! Can you do a transfer over crackle? Should it be sealed first? How would I go about doing that? Thanks!!
Yes, you can do a transfer directly over the crackle paint. You don’t want to seal it with anything first it is a bit more tricky, though I have to be very careful adding the water or it will reactivate the glue and rub off.
@@OurUpcycledLife Thank you! I can't wait to see more videos from you!

Hello there!

Is there away to do this on a painting. i already done .. i want crackle affect to reveal the painting all the mumti colors of the painting between rhe cracks instead of painting on top of them..i wanna to black crackle with the clors of my paining under the crackle. To pop or least be visible through the cracks
Definitely worth experimenting with. Sounds like a fun project. Thanks for watching.
Hi, thank you. When we do this crackle finish on wood, can we seal it with a varnish?
Yes you can!
Hello from East Texas. I so enjoy your videos! I'm wondering do you have a tutorial on the reverse modpodge and how to reverse it in Word? If so thank you and I look forward to more of your videos.

Hello there!
Curious....do you think this process would work on a small wood panelled wall? I have an idea for a project.
It works best on a flat surface that wouldn’t run
On the the piece of paper that you put a little on, did you add water or ? To thin it?
I want that China crackle.
Love your genius posts!!👏👏
I used a thin coat of acrylic
Do you have to use chalk paint
I find that the chalk paint works the best but it will crackle with latex or acrylic. Also, you might not just get the best results.
Can you use a hairdryer ?
Yes but on low settings
Can you do a cpl different layers? For example..Say you have black chalk paint on the bottom then glue then a colored chalk paint let dry and do glue again and top with white will it still crackle?
Yes you can just experiment
Texas ❤
I tried this technique on a wooden tray. First I painted it black matte, however the sides of the tray didn’t really look that great. Can I correct it at this point?
Don’t miss paint in too much or it won’t crackle. I think you will have to sand to correct

What’s advantages, or disadvantages of using Elmer’s glue over Hide glue?
I’m not familiar with hide glue
Valdosta Georgia.
Can you use a hair dryer instead of a heat gun?😊
Yes you can but make sure doesn’t blow paint around
What about spray paint?
I don’t find that it works as well
Can I decoupage on top of it after
Yes you can
Hi from california, what kind of paint did you use?
Chalk paint but any will work
Why can’t I get anything to cravkle
Little Rock Arkansas
Can you do this method on a canvas????
Yes you can
Colorado
Ho from Cape Breton N.S
Why can’t I get anything to crackle I’ve tried it every way
The most common reason is mixing your paint into glue too much and then it won’t crackle . You only have to do one stroke of paint
I just tried Amazon brand craft glue and it did not work.
Oh no! Make sure to not mix paint into glue too much or it won’t crackle
Tennessee
What about color glitter
Yep
Hot glue from $tree didn’t work well. I tried glue from Target, didn’t work well either. Elmer’s was the best!
Thanks for feedback

What do you do about a run?
What are you doing about a run?
How do you keep the glue from drying too fast?
It shouldn’t run if laying flat
Keep out of heat and work quickly
Can you use the hair dryer
You can but hold away from it so won’t spread the glue
