My grandfather had an 88 single cab long bed with the 350 that he bought brand new which he traded on the 99 F150 I have now. While the F150 has been a great truck and I wouldn't trade it for the world I wish he would've never gotten rid of that Sierra. I loved that GMC especially the two tone red and black paint with the red interior. I remember when he took me fishing as a kid I slammed my finger in the door. Those OBS trucks are the best you can’t kill them and if they do sit for a long time they will for sure come back to life with a little bit of love cause that’s GM Power when they were built good
We had a 94 Tahoe like this truck. Started running funny. Out a new fuel pump on it. Never had any coded. Always ran like crab. Ended up scrapping it. Those early gm tbi systems suck.
I've owned several 90's Era chevys. All that annoying door buzzer is is a little black box with a speaker in it plugged in to the fire wall Fuze panel in front of the brake pedal. Pull it out, problem solved.
No, they aren't bad, I just am not a fan of the TBI system. In my opinion, a bad CTS sensor shoudn't disable a vehicle. I don't hate GM, I was just frustrated that the computer didn't notice a sensor that far out of range.
I know you seem to not like TBI or GM TBI, But man, every single chevy TBI I've ever owned lasted forever, I mean yeah they got their own issues, work on them enough you'll know them, My 91 4.3 truck was my grandfathers, I bought it off him with nearly 500k miles on it, I drove it until just shy of 800k miles on it, and it still drove when I sold it, Bought me a 92 silverado 5.7 tbi, got me 480k miles out of it. I really wish my 99 suburban was TBI, its on its 2nd set of injectors since I've owned it, and 4 years ago it collapsed a lifter, I fixed it, and did it again on the passenger side shortly after, Rear end is making noise, I changed out the front diff, and transfer case, has issues with the infamas GM Piston slap on cold starts, sounds like its ready to throw a rod on cold starts for like 10 min, once warmed up its fine. 220k miles on it, If I could find my 800k mile 91 chevy again, I'd straight up trade.
Got to remember how stupid the computers were back at that time, Or even now with Fords fake oil pressure gauge or the plugs popping out of the head problems for 10+ years, or Dodges killer pin that would destroy an entire engine from vibrations that lasted nearly 20 years. As a Ford mechanic, I can not tell you how many times Fords computer would point you in the wrong direction or their OBD1 systems would just throw out unrelated codes for a crank sensor, that was just the time period. I wish I could say they improved, but they really haven't, thats with all manufactures.

Yep, GM has many fantastic designs, but TBI isn't one of them.

We are actually, over the course of this winter we are going to make it roadworthy again.
