- The eyes are the windows of the face! Wait, is that right...? Either way, they're the most essential part of any character art, whether you're working in 3D or traditionally. In this video, we talk about how to make production-ready eyes for CG characters in Maya, but these techniques work for any 3D modeling package, including Blender, 3DS Max, Cinema 4D, etc.
We'll learn modern pipeline techniques based off of real human anatomy, how to model and optimize your geometry, set the proper real-world scale and pupillary distance, and, finally, how to quickly and efficiently UV our new eyes and irises!
Follow for part 2, where we'll break down our eye and iris materials in Arnold for Maya, then rebuild them in V-Ray 6!
