This is one smart man that just tells it like it is and that’s what I love about him!!! He has forgotten more than a lot people will ever learn about car audio!!! He is 💯
Lots of knowledge being dropped with no ego. Love it. I ended up getting 2 WDX G5 15's prior to seeing your videos. Wish I saw your vids sooner. My current system (Hertz SPL Show 12") is fighting a few of these items. New set up should bang. Thanks for staying true.
I appreciate your explaining man. Love your videos sir. Those factors will make or break a build. In my opinion I love music builds more than anything.
Right on the money. I’ve heard low tuned boxes that sound like poo. I’m building a system to play music not 20hz. This video needs to go viral because of car audio facts that your spitting. The opinion of others does not matter. Do your research some woofers under rated and some are OVERRATED. Good videos MB keep it coming.
Well done man. I'm from the old school....80s-90s.....used to rock PPI, Clarion, and JLs.....and I've heard some stereos that run "garbage" and sounded great. My mentor in it all....always said it was in the vehicle, box (ports included), and signal. Love the video man.....you're dead nuts on.
I had messaged you before asking to listen to A Megadeth song one time to tell me what you think about the bass guitar an you said you wouldn’t cause it’s not your music which I fully respect. Though in my 08 Colorado when I had my two Alpine baseline 12” subs in a T line box? MAN!! I play bass guitar and listening to that bass track on that setup? Even when powered by two cheap Dual brand amps from Walmart it sounded incredible. You’re right on that box matters cause it’s a homemade box on cheap amps putting out the right power with two cheap subs really made a big difference
It’s bit what you got it’s how you run it.. used to have an extended cab Tacoma.. 4 15 w3v d4’s walled below the rear glass.. one single 1000/1 slash amp running at 4ohms.. factory 160amp alt, regular 650 amp truck battery. No deadening.. if I remember the box was 12cubes. Two firing up two firing down with box elevated 4” off the trans hump with a bottom plate angles forward so the sound was bouncing forward not down then up back to the subs.. served double duty as an amp and cap rack.. not even big three upgrade back then.. 156.6 off the dash… played everything from mystical to Toby Keith flawlessly.. I’d place second order third in every locals comp from Jacksonville to Daytona beach.. always got beat by a guy running 4 12” pioneers that used to be sold at Sears and circuit city.. in 8cube sealed in a civic.. I’m talking the cheapest subs back in the day.. $89 each lol.. powered by a Phoenix gold 2k he got from a pawn shop for $200 but he had 2 batteries two alts and double 0 wiring he got from an electrician on a construction sight cause you couldn’t buy a power kit under 4ga back then.. he would hit 156.8-160. He literally had a $600 system with home made raw plywood box he built himself. Was coolest guy I ever came across at events back then.. we were beating sponsored vehicles with daily drivers and setups built for music not spl.. back when most were running can through boxes with 12 subs to hit low to mid 150’s on thousands of watts.. the shop that did my install and built my box had a demo vehicle running 8 12’s on 8k watts can’t remember the brand.. wouldn’t even place when me and ole boy showed up lol.. But end of the day.. loud is relative.. 100%.. my truck would suck the air out your lungs and I couldn’t even hit 50% volume before most would exit and I drove that thing daily everywhere at 95% for years like that.. there was nothing better then getting behind spring breakers in Daytona on the strip and being 4-5-6 vehicles back and they couldn’t even hear their own subs over mine.. many memories and good times.. bow looking to do something for my daughter who starts driving in a few months.. prob gonna just throw 2 skar evl 12’s one the skar amp and get her to 142-145ish.. that is more then plenty to run the streets most places anymore.. I won’t be using that garbage 5/8” reflex box though. I’ll put a proper sealed box in there as those subs actually prefer sealed a little more over ported being at a .67. It’s either that or I’m gonna just throw a single w6 HO 12 in there.. I just can’t see spending the same if sub and box as entire kit including wiring when I’m nit sure she will even utilize the potential of what I give her.. honestly I though about doing a reflex build with 3 8’s and shaking it around the space.. but it’s hot in florida.. I’d rather keep the impedance up a little and keep the amp running cooler and cleaner.. wiring three subs to a single amp is always a pain anymore with how low the ohms are on all these newer subs any more.. we need to get back to the old days where we had 4ohm and 8ohm and d4 and d8 speakers.. all this 2ohm bs is just so companies can sell you bigger amps that cost more and are full bridge so they get hot and distort easy.. everyone on you tune like running these amp rubi tests on 40-65* amps for 30second tests.. let me know how these things do in a 150* truck in summer.. full bridge will clip like a mofo under real world conditions.. even if you don’t realize it.. especially when you tax them at 1-2ohms.. there is a reason 20 years ago a 1k or 2k amp was the size of a dual sub box.. full bridge great for comps.. shit for daily drivers unless you live in Alaska..

I do agree with your wisdom. But the fact still remains that people who get into car audio do not know what they want out of their system for as SPL, SQL and SQ. Now the subs that I'm running with and own is the Skar SDR-12's which are built and design for SQ. SQ is not for people to hear you from blocks away. SQ is for listening enjoyment while driving listening to your favorite songs like RnB, Classical music etc., with clean tight bass that does not overwhelm the music (high's and Mid's/ vocals). For my small Toyota, I'm going for SQL.

What do you think about free air some people call them IB(infinite baffle)
Roger McClain not for me 😁
I run 2 ABass 15's on a fosgate 500.1 ported . And man do these subs hit deeeeep! It's in a carlo 02. I'm gonna do 4 of these with 2 fosgates 500.1 and I'm sure I'll be starting mini earthquakes. $70-80 subs.
@BASSNSANE sorry for late response my brother. I'm pushing 2 American bass 15 DX in a pre fab ported box on a fosgate 500.1 and they hit deeeep. I run em w/o bass. 500 sounds like 1500.
@BASSNSANE I'm completing a install. I'll definitely make 1 for ya Bossmane.
@9:03 Talk To Em!!!!
40hz is 40 cycles a second, but I bet you just mis-spoke, you really know your stuff
I think 40 hz for example on a DD sub sounds different than any other sub playing 40 hz in the same box. DD just hits different. Your channel is fantastic and I appreciate all the info you share. Still watching your old videos catching up.
Damn!!!!!! 1 sub did a 179db..... American bass for the win. Lol!!!!
