    This is the only time I’ve ever heard this explained, and finally explains why Alpine is so reluctant to to go lower then 2ohms on their amps, being SQ based (and the peculiarities of the MRX series when run @ 1ohm) ty bro, so glad I sub’d 🖖🏼🤓🔈

    • @imdbtruth

      That's funny, I just made a comment about about my MRX-M240 creating 2400 Watts at 2ohm, but only 1000 Watts at 1ohm. The MRX series was a great line of amps though!

    • @Tekjive
      @Tekjive 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@imdbtruth ya I don’t know why they did that, maybe to give it some ohm breathing room I guess? Alpine usually isn’t even rated @1ohm, which is a shame. There’s mods for that amp that unlock its full 1ohm potential, but you lose safety features ...still trying to find an MRX-M240 myself lol >.< M110 holding me down for now and it’s been great

      alpine sub amps are often fullbridge people dont realize that.
      same with jl slash jbl and tons of others

    • @JViello
      @JViello 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Nah, it has everything to do with current. To move a ton of current with lower voltage it creates a lot of heat and stresses components vs high voltage and lower current. (Higher ohm load) If sonic purity had *ANYTHING* to do with speaker load, Soundstream would have never been recognized as one of the best sounding amp...while being 1/8th ohm stable. IF an amp loses SQ while running a low amp load, it's simply because the architecture of the amp is making is unstable.
      Watts are watts. 100w comes from 10 amps @100 volts, or 100amps @ 10 volts. Some applications would require high voltage and low current, and others would work better with high current and low voltage. That's all. No offense to the creator of this vid, but he's way off...or at least in realizing why/how that low impedance load sounds worse.

      @@ricardoibanez2759 You wouldn't believe what you could get out of 200-300w RMS back in the 90s; idk if it was a perfect storm, all I can say what the parts were and it doesn't make sense compared to the numbers you all use today.
      The amp: Kenwood KAC-818 200w@4ohm, 300w@2ohm with Sigma Servo feedback loop.
      The sub: Audiovox 18" someone found and gave me; was old and dusty in the mid 90s.
      The box: sealed, 24x24x18, 1/2" MDF screwed together and sealant put on inside, made by my father :p
      the car: RX-7 GXL hatchback
      my guess is for some reason, the shape of the rear window turned the cabin of the car into a bandpass and magnified the intensity in the car and out. They told me they could hear me right before I came over the hill at a light a mile away (well, 5,000 ft; I used Google Maps just to make sure I wasn't making that distance even more its been a couple decades).
      The speaker is gone, about to use the amp again with a Kicker CompRT 8" I modified the stock sub box to fit and give it a bit more space, matched to pull 300w from the amp (4ohm dvc). Its in a CR-Z, so small car, daily ... next step is sound dampening after I get the modified stock box in, amp and 2-farad cap in, then replacing stock speakers.
      just getting into it again. enjoyed listening to this gentleman in the video here.

    This video is 100 times more useful than trying different stuff out experimentation. I am building many custom devices for a bicycle siren handlebars alarm. I don’t want a bell on my bike I actually want a big subwoofer with obnoxious loud & noisy alarm. If my ohms load is too low impedance the transistors might run too hot; these transistors in A-B setup are fed a square wave signal from many 8 pin timer chips

    I enjoy that you give us the information at 4 ohm so the message is controlled. Some professors give their information at 1ohm and I need a nap. 😂. Man, what a great lesson. The timing is perfect. My Audio Control lc1.800 just dropped in volume by 75%. No codes or lights. While it goes out for repair, I'm going to replace it with a Rockford Fosgate T1000-1bdCP. It far more amp than what I need for my JL Audio Stealth box with two 10w1v3's but I want them to be as clean as possible and I can run them of that amp at 4ohms and still have power on tap. Plus it leaves me with options for whatever SQ setup I want.

    Just seen this the first time. Honestly boss.. every way you explained clicking every step with ya.. I made my mind up what to do.. I’m keeping my 4 kickers 15 comp at out at 4 ohms and on a seperate amp for the 2 l7s and 2ohms to help control it all.. but 💯on every way you used your explanations.. faucet open/tricking and dripping.. and the control of the power for 4 ohm better than that of a 2 then a 1.. and the speaker stops on a dime at 4 and it stronger but wilder at 1 ohm.. so more control is way better if you have the power watt size to cover the watts at 4 ohms.. but you have to suplimate the power with well needed control..
    more movement.. more friction.. less life too.. the best in the middle.. straight up this is the best informed hit on every point I needed to look for when I hit this video.. I will support.. you are 2decks 4 aces in my book.. thank you and I apologize for the book k just wrote on your comments.. and trust I never comment.. but I had to applaud more than a like.. keep explaining the ways you do.. Hey bro, I am new to your channel, I am enjoying this. I have been a car audio hobbyist for years. I’ve always been fascinated by the way impedance and power worked, even though they were rated for 1ohm I have witnessed or know of the death of many amps and woofer, unless they’re really well built , because what people may not know is that impedance can change with different frequencies within a song. It’s why I always liked sticking with 4/2 ohm minimum loads. Though I wasn’t hitting as loud and “ringing “as everyone else, but I guess it’s why I still have amps around that have survived 25 plus years. Anyhow brother you’re teaching gems 👍🏽👍🏽🔥🔥🔥

    Awesome explanation,
    Today I was picking a dual cone subwoofer, and I choose the 4 ohm over the 2 ohm cause I heard a significant difference in musical notes,
    I had to make a connection at 2 ohms instead of 4 ohm cause the amp gets out only 300 rms on 4 ohm while the sub is 600 rms.
    Thanks again for the great clarification.
    Amp Pioneer GM-D8701
    And Subwoofer Pioneer TS-D12D4

    Ice been doing *personal* custom audio for 25+ years, always been the goto guy for friends from 7th or 8th grade til now having a kid out imof college. All I'm saying is I've got a pretty good understanding of audio systems, and pretty good idea how electricity works from engineering courses in high school and college. Point is, well Saud, great points, all valid; but I was so lost by the end I closed youtube and ordered a new inline water heater, new garden hose handles, a lift pump for master bedroom shower upstairs and emailed the city about enlarging the plumbing from street to house. This video has already cost me 12,000 dollars 😂 good job brother. Could be a politician, and all in good fun, I hope you know that. ❤

    I’m sorry but this man needs to be a teacher. I legit just learned so much by watching this video! Hat off to you brother. Awesome video. I will be 100 percent honest this was the best 20 minutes of any video I watched today. I just purchased two scar ddx 12” D2 “ 2ohms”. I am going to wire both subs for a final impedance of 2ohms. I don’t think I could get 1 ohm out of two 2ohm subs. The amp does say it can run 1ohm
    The amp is the Skar rp2000

    Thank you for the way you explain these things that at first glance appear to come from outer space. Electrical work used to scare me because it was all book work. I am and always have been a person who learns by getting hands on. Especially when the one who has the knowledge can articulate it in a way that is understandable. You have a way of saying it as well as metaphorically painting a picture that makes the outcome of the description crystal clear. Your encloses are so clean and I've always learned just exactly what I was looking for if you have an explanation for a particular issue I may be experiencing. Or like this video, just gaining a bit more knowledge for later on down the road where itll come in handy no doubt. Thank you man because that's a gift you've got when you can reach people without putting them to sleep. Keep up the clean work my friend and you already know what them haters do. I respect your opinion and the work you do man. Look forward to seeing what the future holds. Respect...

    I watched this video a long time ago and had to revisit it. The problem is marketing. Many amps nowadays advertise their highest RMS at 2 ohms or 1 ohm and the consumer sees this and then sees the price and goes: "wow, I want a 1,000 watt system"! So, the audio retailer then sells them the sub or subs that will achieve that impedance. The shop isn't going to tell the customer about the disadvantages of running low impedance. Now if a SQ guy comes into the shop and insists on running 4 ohms or 2 ohms, then the shop will oblige them, because the SQ guy already knows, but the average Joe won't tell the difference. The average Joe just wants to bang. I really tried to run my DVC sub in series, wired @ 3 ohms, but even a 5K couldn't fully exercise this sub's full potential. (JL Audio 13.5W7 D1.5) I was only getting 14-1500 watts at best and also running into clipping at certain frequencies, due to impedance rise. I figured that I would have needed an 8K to get what I really wanted in terms of performance. That 8K would have cost me an arm and a leg! Instead, I wired the coils in parallel down to .75 and now my impedance peak is 4 ohms and I average 1 ohm everywhere else. I am also getting just under 3K to the sub on dynamic peaks, using a Down 4 Sound JP23v2. I don't notice any reduction in control of the driver, but my electrical is decent enough that the amp stays happy. Now my buddy on the other hand, is running two Audiopipe 1600's strapped at 4 ohms DC (2 ohms) on two RF P3's and his Jeep is like being inside of a subwoofer enclosure! I did design his box and it is tuned to 30Hz and net air space is 6.36 cubes. It sounds incredible for what it is and them amps don't get terribly hot. I'd like to get a 2nd JP23 and strap them @ 3 ohms DC to see what happens, but I may need to rearrange my amp rack. Anyways, bottom line is, most people aren't willing to pay 1995 prices for amp wattage. (buying an 8K to only use 3K) Good stuff though MB!! You gonna check out SLAMOLOGY this year in Indiana? I have never gone and I am gonna go for sure this year! It would be awesome to meet you!

    I have a 12" running at 8 ohms and a 10" at 4 ohms. I use 2 entry-level monoblocks. The bass has a kind of immediacy and texture that a 2-ohm sub cannot deliver. These are my subjective hearing experience. This video saved me a ton of money and hassle: decent entry-level monoblocks will get the job done! Thanks for explaining this often-overlooked topic.

    Great video! I just have one correction for you. You keep saying 35 Hz is 35,000 cycles per second. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying but 35,000 cycles per second is actually 35 kHz which is outside the audible range for human hearing. 35 Hz is actually 35 cycles per second. Other than that, awesome video!
