I was born in Cuba and I have always been supportive of my grown sons' choices. Peter's mother is as she is because that family seems to have boundary issues, not because Barbara is Cuban.
Her nationality has nothing2do with her embarrassing madison and peter on national television and the childish looks was just 2much.Eye roll to Barb.were not afraid2let our opinion of you to stop peter from being with the person he loves.
It’s not really nationality though. I do think there is a cultural difference that is relevant. Hispanic families tend to be closer I’ve noticed, and parents are usually more involved in their children’s choices, and tend to be more vocal about their opinions with relationships. This coming from a Latina with a Latina mom. I don’t think Barb was always in the right, and she should know when it was too much, but I do think she was being blunt with Peter (especially in Part 1) in a way that I view as normal in Latino families, and so I do have to defend her. I get not every Latino family is the same, but from a sociological perspective, these cultural differences are a trend and do impact the family dynamics.

Barb completely overstepped but Maddison did have this arrogance about her (while sitting up there) that rubbed me the wrong way.

Peters mom said how she felt. Why are people freaking out over this? His mother doesn’t have to agree with him. They asked Barbs opinion and she gave it. You don’t have to support every decision your child makes. Tough love is hard and I don’t hate Barbara. The show put the camera on her the entire time and made her the spotlight. Shame on them for making it the Barb show and not the season finale. They will not make it. I think Madison stood her ground. Both women are strong in their beliefs and neither is budging.

I'm not saying Barb is not right, I just don't think her way of handling it was the way to go. I think this is a conversation that should've happened behind closed doors at Peter's house after the show was over, not on national tv. She is a very involved parent and that is ok, but I believe that for Peter to have a successful relationship with anyone he needs to set boundaries too.
E. Jones Barb was telling the truth. I don’t care about her delivery. Peter needed to hear that their relationship is doomed. Madison is not the right girl for Peter and Peter isn’t the right man for Madison.

I think she should not have to apologize , just because that's what Barb wants to hear. There are things that go on behind the camera that could've caused her to be late, and she probably just assumed the producers would've let her know. If Madi should have to apologize, Barb should too because she totally threw the whole first date to the renewal of vows over her head, she truly was disrespectful to Madi, and then was disrespectful to their relationship.
I agree. It's just common courtesy. I'm a stickler for manners as it shows consideration and respect for the people around you. I get it Madi was mad at peter but to neglect that common courtesy and respect to his family who had nothing to do with why she was upset is pretty bizarre.
I completely agree! And Madison had to stay on her “my beliefs” train instead of just saying I’m sorry. I cringed when she had the chance to respond to Peters mom with empathy but instead chose to snap back. The look on her face said a lot too. I’m not saying she shouldn’t live by her own values but it almost seems like that keeps her from opening her heart and truly seeing people, in a sense. She and Peter have such a different lifestyle. And maybe he is better off being a forever bachelor until he grows up.

This is gonna be controversial - I disagree with Caila when she said Madison should've apologized to Barb and her husband during the live finale for being three hours late to spend time with them. Caila said parents want respectfulness and humility in their future in-laws, and Caila said Madison didn't show any humility during the live finale. I'm not traditional. I disagree that people have to apologize to their future parents-in-law even if it isn't genuine, just as a respect/humility thing. For me, I believe parents and the significant others of their son/daughter are all equals. I believe age does NOT automatically make you deserve more respect than those a generation younger than you. I believe respect is a two-way street.
I agree with Caila's statment. A little apology does not make any difference in equality between young and old... If Madison came late she should have said sorry and explain herself. Definitely Peter's mom would understand. 3 hours late is not a joke for a live finale. An apology is all it takes to sort things out and infact that shows manners. If she's gonna marry off a guy without showing respect to her in-laws then I don't think the in-laws will accept her either. Attitude is also one thing that doesn't suit woman when you interact with in-laws. As an Asian we are taught to apologize if we're late and explain ourselves, that's called manners. Don't minsunderstand what Caila has told.

What everyone fails to realize is that the virgin’s father told Peter that he would not give his blessing to their marriage. So they have opposition coming from both sides. Both of their parents are against this relationship. Peter does need to grow up.
IMHO, he is the most immature bachelor ever. He’s not hateful; he is simply immature. He needs to grow some cojones.
Additionally, putting down Peter because he lives with his parents is wrong. In the Hispanic culture, unmarried children continue to live with their parents. You also seem to be forgetting that he is a pilot so he is gone a lot of the time. Why should he waste money on an apartment or home that he’s hardly staying at because of his travels?

This younger generation think parents are supposed to be their friends and agree with everything they say or do. My children know better. I will tell them like it is. Theres a difference between having an opinion and full out bashing someone on live TV. In most past seasons (if not all), parents have expressed their preference amongst the two finalists, but we never saw the disrespect transpire with them like we're seeing with Barb. She is literally bullying Herr!!! Basically saying Hannah Ann is better than you to her face- like really??? I think she turned it up for the cameras, it's hard for me to believe any mother could be that nasty to their child.

So I second guessed too but then I listened to Ben and Ashley I’s “Almost Famous Podcast” the last two they posted with Savannah and Sydney from this season who both talked about Hannah Ann and Madi and they said they were even shocked by Barb because they knew by week 3 that it was Madi all the way. And I was sold completely and think that Barb might have pushed Madi away before she could get attached. You should listen to it. It’s the last two ones they posted. I think Barb has suffered some kind of amnesia cause that wasn’t her first time meeting Madison, lol she was at their vow renewal and they got along great! Also, that is a very bold assumption to think she even knew the family was waiting for three hours. We should all know by know the Bachelor producers are notoriously manipulative (even more so than Barb lol) and it was the first time Peter and Madison got to actually talk since the whole I have been intimate with another girl(s) talk. They clearly NEEDED to have that talk. Madison didnt force him to talk, Peter initiated it. Either way imagine if they do beat the odds and get married with kids in the future, that child(ren) is going to see this and see how their grandmother was acting on live national television. She (Madison) knows to an certain extent she signed up for, the producers know how to play the game like no other every year. So I think most of it was really out of both their hands. I wish them nothing but the best to beat the odds against them. Which might end up bringing them closer.

Jane Ryan I was trying to be optimistic but apparently Peter can’t hold to his own and is still being breast fed by his mommy. Wasted everyone’s damn time. Madison even said herself that it wasn’t in her control. Barb’s mad because Hannah kissed their ass and told them what she wanted to hear while Madison stood up for herself and was being real. As a mom who controlled Peter all of his life, she didn’t want him being on his own.

Barb is upset because Peter didn't follow directions and choose Hannah for her.
Simple solution: Peter dates the woman with whom he obviously has a strong connection, and they see if they can make it work....and in the meantime, Barb can adopt Hannah Ann then drive her nuts like she drives her sun nuts. "Mom, you have to STOP with this stuff", he told her when she had her first crying moment after the home visits.
The apology thing is total crap. Madison does not control the production.
And so what if Madison told Barb off camera that in four days hence she would not accept a proposal yet. That's just sane! Date for a wile longer and THEN decide if you want to get engaged!! All this proves to me is that Madison is being sensible and if Peter accepted that and still chose her over Hannah Ann and others, it will have been because he truly loved HER.
All this being said, he was an idiot to sleep with two women that he was NOT the most attached to. So if it all blows up in his face, he is not blameless.
