Now here we have a band that's got a 1 million watt light show, an audience of upwards of 80,000 people, and regular radio air play, but they're UNDERFUCKING RATED!! How much more rating would make you happy? Maybe we can change the name of a state, no, the entire country to Triumph! Maybe we can have Triumph History month! I was there, 7 months pregnant in a bikini cause it was like 108 degrees ! You can’t see me but I’m in this video lol This!! A three piece band, the best 3 piece band. I miss those days of live bands! Triumph was so underrated! So grateful this popped up in my feed this morning. What a song! “Fight the good fight every moment,” may you all have peace and love ❤
I think Rush fans might disagree. In fact, I know that the guys from Triumph would disagree when talking about Rush. They’re all huge Rush fans. It’s a Canadian thing. Trudeau may be Prime Minister, but Rush are the kings of Canada. Only two kings left, RIP to the professor and legend, Neil Peart.
@@RoarOfWolverinewhy? Why attack a lovely person relating her love of this event from a great band? Most all know Rush friggin’ ROCKS! You come off pusillanimous…
@@RoarOfWolverine Ive been a Rush junkie since many years ago. Kinda silly to compare the two bands. Clearly Rush had the longer much more fruitful career. I do like Triumph as well but Rush blows them out of the water and day and any planet.
The best recording of this song is this performance. The tones and delay are perfect. His vocals are top notch. Hardly anything sounds as powerful that that second chorus.
TRIUMPH - Fight the Good Fight (Live in HALIFAX) is really good too, can't say I agree with you completely, but it really doesn't matter, this performance is TRULY EPIC simply because of the massive crowds and open air.
BROTHER TRUTH I love it when I cruise old Triumph songs on YT and see comments like this.. Rik was un fucking believeable. what a voice. what a presence.
Saw an interview where they opened for Journey at the Rose Bowl, and Rik and Steve Perry were talking backstage, and PERRY ASKED RIK HOW HE WAS ABLE TO HIT ALL THOSE INCREDIBLE HIGH NOTES SO EFFORTLESSLY...you are good when that happens.
@@jeffwarren4938 I was always of the opinion that Rik Emmett's voice was as good as Perry's. They both had a very unique timbre to them and were powerful.
@RaymondBCrisp I agree 100%..slightly different styles of voice, but equal in my opinion. Rik's more of a straight rock voice, Perry's more of a blues/R&B voice....both world class! Rik all the while playing guitar with virtuosity!
Reminds me of my childhood friend who was killed a couple years ago in a motorcycle accident,I always get clouds in my eyes when I hear triumph, takes me back to the best days of my life.
Not me, and I was actually there in San Bernardino 7 months pregnant in a bikini 😂😂 it was like 110 degrees out. So not only the song which is enough on its own, but the memory of that experience. ❤❤❤
Always thought that the lyric should have been "I keep my TREASURE in my heart," because "treasure" is used in the bible verses Matthew 6:21 and Luke 12:34. That said, I know Rik uses the word "magic" for the same purpose. It's all good.
@@goodpainlive1 I know, was just going to comment on same thing... very Geddy Lee-like singing voice and also a 3 member rock band from Canada...what are the odds.???
Thank goodness that... in this world of confusion... I turn to this song and I not only feel better but I rejuvenate and I resolve to continue to.. "Fight the good fight!" My grown kids like it, too, and because I've played it for them all of their lives they used it as "a call to action" when the good fight seems impossible!! Absolutely LOVE this song!! Those guitars...❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
God bless you for doing that, or whatever wish you desire. Thankfully you aren't the only one who teaches their children well (musical pun intended). Proof that good and powerful music, still after decades survives! Triumph were masters!
big Rush fan... never listened to Triumph before. Didnt realize the guy sounds so much like Geddy Lee. In fact sounds MUCH better than Geddy... Same high pitch but much smoother to my ears ! Im impressed.
Rik's voice is much, much more smooth and natural sounding than Geddy...especially live, Geddy always sounds like he is screeching in his highest register! Nails on a chalk board to me.
@@user-bl6ne3hc6n I watched all the performers that day and agree. Triumph and Priest were spot on. Van Halen played their set and MA and EVH were good but DLR was just talk-singing and making drinking innuendo. It was like they were at a back yard party. Triumph was one of my favorite bands in the 70’s. I saw them at the municipal auditorium in San Antonio Texas. It’s a rather small venue. It was awesome
I was there for the three days event, it was so awesome! Have lots of photos! ❤ I had a great time! Where have all the good times gone, and we need the new generation of good rocken roll bands. Long Hair Rocks! ❤
This was my favorite band growing up. Living close to Buffalo, we got radio broadcasts of a show called King Biscuit Flower Hour. It was awesome and exposed my brother and I to a lot of great music! Triumph was definitely among those. A simpler, more pure time that makes me appreciate how good life was. One phenomenal 3 piece! Wish I would’ve been there beside you!! You Rock!
I was lucky to see them twice when I was younger. The raw energy you see here is nothing compared to what it was live. This is just a little taste of it!

Working with four to six octave voice all his guitar prowess and songwriting has always been the man. This man just rocked on so many levels over so many years.
I saw them in Atl. In the 80’s On my Birthday!! My all time favorite band on my Birthday... just awesome. First time I heard them my brother and I was in a bar and they were on MTV, Never Surrender video. I ask my brother “ who are these guys”? He said Triumph I believe. I was hooked. The power and strength in Ricks voice, the veins in his neck looked like they were going to burst. I was thinking Damn now that’s a voice. Then you add in his ability to play a guitar and Gil on drums and is a great singer himself, then Mike on bass. They complimented each other very well! They were/are perfection at the highest level.

Yep...I saw them four times starting in '78! Huge stage shows when on their own stage/tours. Rik Emmett...virtuoso voice and guitar! Steve Perry once asked Rik, when they opened for Journey at the Rose Bowl, how he hit tjose high notes so effortlessly!!!!
Rick Emmett was a Christian but he was never throwing it in peoples faces but it crept into his music. Read the lyrics of this song if you don’t believe me. Spectacular band

Rik makes it look so effortless. He's truly a musical gift. His voice is incredible. His guitar skills are too. I would have to say he should be on the list of greatest guitarists imo.
Saw these guys back in mid-80's sometime at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. They were the first band that I ever saw that made me think, "Man, they sound exactly like they do on their albums." I was really kind of in awe.
I was privy to see them in the end of the 80s at an outdoor show. He had been playing a white Dean baby in those days. Certainly, Canada had come on strong in American music scene with incredible talents during the 70s and beyond.

Don't forget that sick bass holding it down while he lays the leads. Amazing job here. Rik's vocals are superb.
That voice is unreal!
I'm so grateful to have seen them live.
I was there, 7 months pregnant in a bikini cause it was like 108 degrees ! You can’t see me but I’m in this video lol
This!! A three piece band, the best 3 piece band. I miss those days of live bands! Triumph was so underrated! So grateful this popped up in my feed this morning. What a song! “Fight the good fight every moment,” may you all have peace and love ❤
Who was the best band that day? Or at least your favorite?
I think Rush fans might disagree. In fact, I know that the guys from Triumph would disagree when talking about Rush. They’re all huge Rush fans. It’s a Canadian thing. Trudeau may be Prime Minister, but Rush are the kings of Canada. Only two kings left, RIP to the professor and legend, Neil Peart.
@@RoarOfWolverinewhy? Why attack a lovely person relating her love of this event from a great band? Most all know Rush friggin’ ROCKS!
You come off pusillanimous…
I was there too!!
This WAS THE BEST performance of this song! Hands down!!!!!
The best live vocal performance I have ever seen. Rik had the most unbelievably natural rock voice.
BROTHER TRUTH I love it when I cruise old Triumph songs on YT and see comments like this.. Rik was un fucking believeable. what a voice. what a presence.
+John Carlson (DoggieStyle Hotdogs) I know how you feel! Before YT, I've always wondered if I was the only one who know this about him. LOL
Agreed!
Seriously though. How fucking good is Rik Emmitt’s voice here? Just sitting here with my mouth through the floor.
Outstanding My First Concert 16 yrs old !
You said it
@@jeffwarren4938 I was always of the opinion that Rik Emmett's voice was as good as Perry's.
I was at this concert in 1983, all three days, right before I got out of the Marine Corps, my friends told me I had a great time !! 🤘🤪🍄🍄🍻🍻
Oorah brother!
I was there too! I had just gotten out of the corps on May 20. 1/1 Bravo Co weapons platoon 0331!
I was at this show all 3 days right before I went into the Corps. 2/5 Echo Co. Camp Margarita 0331
How many of you over 60 can listen to this without shedding a tear?
I am from around Toronto and these guys played twice at our high school. Good memories!

Psalm 83:18 - You alone whose name is Jehovah are the Most High over all the Earth. (KJV).
It’s definitely a song to warrior-up too! Good for these times. I’m not one to look back.
Yes 😅ndeed
Always thought that the lyric should have been "I keep my TREASURE in my heart," because "treasure" is used in the bible verses Matthew 6:21 and Luke 12:34. That said, I know Rik uses the word "magic" for the same purpose. It's all good.
That's beautiful man!🌠😇✝️🌐🇺🇸@@kelleyfamily2636
Another awesome 3 man band from Canada. They keep great company with Rush. Kudos to canadien musicians.
Agree. His voice is very similar to Geddy Lee's.
Rush is my favorite band of all time.
Great music, great lyric. My adult children love this music as well.
Yes of course. Every word of the lyrics are powerful. Gives me a spiritual high when I hear them..Uplifting
Long live Triumph the most prolific rock n roll jam EVER
One of the best rock singers of all time
and guitarists
big Rush fan... never listened to Triumph before. Didnt realize the guy sounds so much like Geddy Lee. In fact sounds MUCH better than Geddy... Same high pitch but much smoother to my ears ! Im impressed.
I love Geddy but yeah Rik's voice is just perfect
Rik's voice is much, much more smooth and natural sounding than Geddy...especially live, Geddy always sounds like he is screeching in his highest register! Nails on a chalk board to me.
I was at this concert! AWESOME SHOW!!
That’s pretty awesome! Could you see the mountain of cocaine backstage from your seats?
I listen to this once a week and have for years.
I was there. Went over the front barricade during Triumph's set.
We had the greatest rock 70,80,90
Blessed to have been apart of it.
US Festival. Was their time to shine and boy did they!!What an amazing performance. Blew the doors off most of the bands that day.
Ya, I didn't go. My friends did, and I asked them who was the best, they said Triump and priest, worst. VAN HALEN
@@user-bl6ne3hc6n I watched all the performers that day and agree. Triumph and Priest were spot on.
Van Halen played their set and MA and EVH were good but DLR was just talk-singing and making drinking innuendo. It was like they were at a back yard party.
Funny so many of the acts weren't Metal at all but neither were some of the acts on the Rock day actually Rock acts 🤷♂
Not Judas Priest
@@mefornewtnow Two more members and worse singer/screamer who only sings/screams. Subjective opinion. Priest was great for sure. I bought the DVD I liked the show so much and saw them whenever they came to town.
Scorpions 1 , Priest 2 , Triumph 3, Ozzy 4, but lets remember it was 100 plus degrees
Triumph, what can I say? Except awesome!! Another 3 piece band from Canada that kicks ass!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Well said. Very similar to Rush.
Just can’t get past the fact, that they sound too much like Rush!
They sound nothing like Rush. @@reach1898
Canada INVENTED the power trio!
Absolutely cannot get over the vocals. Goosebumps is such an understatement!!
Fight the Good Fight Every Moment!!! YES!! Keep on fighting the good fight and don't quit.. don't give up! This song encouraged me through some very rough years and it still does today!! Thank you Triumph!!! Peace and love only ❤🔥🔥🔥
I was at this show!🥰

I need to hear this song often. This has been my fight song for a very long time. Watching this video reminds me of how blessed I have been. Also the person who helped write and perform it has been my inspiration, mentor and friend for many years. Magic Man Rik Emmett. 📻 🎼🎸🎵✨🎶❤️🔥🌹✨
I remember when this song was released! Always been an inspiration for me to fight the good fight!
Man, it still gives me chills... best 3 man ever... hands down!
It is now January 24th 2025! And hell yeah! I'm watching and listening to this masterpiece. Triumph, keep on keep on rocking!❤❤❤

One of the best songs ever written and performed. Absolutely fantastic
I've had it stuck in my head for at least 2 weeks now!! lol
Triumph was one of my favorite bands in the 70’s. I saw them at the municipal auditorium in San Antonio Texas. It’s a rather small venue. It was awesome
Awesome voice and great band!
You Rock!
Through a good set of headphones Rik’s Framus sounds so rich and full, fantastic live mix too.
Erik Emmet was my fave. He’s got the most beautiful pristine tone without even trying.
Greatest song ever. My daily motivation song. Everyday i wake up this song!!
''Rock and Roll will save your soul''.
I was lucky to see them twice when I was younger. The raw energy you see here is nothing compared to what it was live. This is just a little taste of it!

When Steve Perry says Rik is a phenomenal singer and Steve Morse says Rik is a phenomenal guitarist I tend to believe them......
Been with him since the rock and roll machine album and ever since and they are definitely the best Canadian band and one of the best top three bands in the world all time.
Working with four to six octave voice all his guitar prowess and songwriting has always been the man.
This man just rocked on so many levels over so many years.
Never heard this song before. Where have I been. Lol. I didn't' know music could even get this good period. This is live too not lip-sync'd. Wow
Omigosh, you need to go down the Triumph rabbit hole now! Listen to *every* song from this show (US Festival 1983) and it'll blow your mind. 💥
You should hear their album Thunder Seven. What a hell of a treasure to listen to
Awesome performance
This has to be one of the Greatest Live Performances in the History of Rock! I can't stop watching . . . . . . . . . . .
Triumph was never underrated. It's just most people don't have the class to appreciate them. The whole band is amazing.
One of the Best..3 man bands of the Late 70s and 80s.... Awesome !!!👍🎸🤟😎
And late 70s. I graduated in 80 and was listening to them before that.
And still only second best to RUSH in there home country of Canada.
Emmett kills Alex on guitar and makes Geddy sound like a dog that hit by a bus. But you already know this
I saw them in Atl.
Fact
I have loved April Wine and Rush since 1976. Triumph came on my radar in 1982.
At 56, I am a loyal fan of all three bands.
2112 and the Temples of Syrinx! I've been a RUSH fan since I first heard them in 1977. "THE BLACK HOLE OF CYGNUS X-1".
You sound like one of these long / short haired hippy typed cats I'm guessing 🤣 long may you run. I been eating this shit since it came out, it don't get no bedda, even in America ✌️
Rick Emmit is blessed with his talent. The whole band for that matter.
You got that right....
I saw these guys so many times live back in the 80s...such a fantastic live show! They never got the recognition they deserved.
I miss Triumph. This band I have been listening to in 1979 starting with Hold on.. then . This band aways had a great message to tell us.. I love the music and wish they would of had more songs out growing up. I was 19 going on 20. They were one of the most awesome Canadian bands... This group was amazing
The second he starts , the voice you know it! It's majestic ❤d
i´ve just discovered this band, what an amazing three piece
Yep...I saw them four times starting in '78! Huge stage shows when on their own stage/tours. Rik Emmett...virtuoso voice and guitar! Steve Perry once asked Rik, when they opened for Journey at the Rose Bowl, how he hit tjose high notes so effortlessly!!!!
Rick Emmett was a Christian but he was never throwing it in peoples faces but it crept into his music. Read the lyrics of this song if you don’t believe me. Spectacular band
Watching this today on pride night. How funny this is it. Got kicked off a jury duty because her husband was a woman. Do not believe in that.
"Was"? He's still alive.

What a great band day of the green 1983 I drove down there to Oakland from Sacramento in my brand new 83 Firebird with a couple of friends what a great night that was watching Triumph and then Journey came on the 80s were just fantastic years for me I was in my twenties yes the 80s War the decade of all decades
Rik makes it look so effortless. He's truly a musical gift. His voice is incredible. His guitar skills are too. I would have to say he should be on the list of greatest guitarists imo.
This video is one of those things that make me wish I'd seen it with my own eyes
Great song and great words to live by, thanks guys!
Damn I can’t get enough of this love it gives me goosebumps
Whoever set up the mics on the drums deserved a raise.
Saw these guys back in mid-80's sometime at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin. They were the first band that I ever saw that made me think, "Man, they sound exactly like they do on their albums." I was really kind of in awe.
Was that with I think Saxon and Krokus opening? I was there that day too!
I was there. They were so awesome!!! Triumph was a great band.
I was privy to see them in the end of the 80s at an outdoor show. He had been playing a white Dean baby in those days.
Certainly, Canada had come on strong in American music scene with incredible talents during the 70s and beyond.
I wish i could go to a Triumph concert. I grew up to my grandparents listening to them and it just amaze me the talent is amazing. Erik Emmet was my fave. He’s got the most beautiful pristine tone without even trying.
