Now that's what I call a real rock and roll show! They don't make them like that anymore.Triumph was and still is one of the greatest bands of all time!
One of the greatest Rock Bands in all of Rock History.
Awesome I just watched this whole concert again it took me back in time like I was in a time Machine Loved every minute of it I saw Triumph 4 times in Toronto there so great love you guys, and all the Triumph fans out there.I saw Triumph in 1985- 87-88 90 then saw Rik Emmett by himself still put on a great show my heart will always be in the 80s where I grew up in Toronto saw many bands and at all he popular Rock bars like the Gas Works,Rock n Roll Heaven,Larrys Hideaway Nags Head North so many Rock joint and great times Im still rockin all the best everyone be strong and safe 🎸🎤🎶🤟
I remember back in 1977 just reached the Canadian drinking age .... One of my buddy's Mother worked with I think it was Levines Wife.. She told us to go see this band Triumph , they were playing at one of our local bars the Knob Hill Hotel in Scarborough .. They totally blew us away ,, Rick was like a young guitar God 👌 I remember them playing songs off their new record Rock and Roll Machine ,, they also played a lot of Zeppelin numbers in their sets as well as I recall 👍
Thx. I love hearing tid bits first hand. 🤘
This is a great story. I wish I could have been there enjoying Triumph before their breakout!
"Follow You Heart" is such a great song! Was one of my favorite Triumph songs of all time:
People say
Don't ever look behind
Happiness is just a state of mind
Rock and roll lives and breathes in the hearts of the young
So carry on
You're runnin' on borrowed time
Tryin' hard to survive
Keep on runnin'
Your time is comin'
Keep your dreams alive
Follow your heart (you got to follow your heart)
Living for today, forget about tomorrow
How this band didn't get more commercial and world wide success is almost criminal... there wasn't many bands in this era or since that had the Double Lead Vocal Attack that Rik Emmett and Gil Moore had.... add to that the fact that Rik Emmett was a premier lead guitarist and they all had awesome stage presence and showmanship.... they had the song writing talents and Gil owned Metal Works Studio....... someone tell me how they didn't get to the level of Rush and other top acts?!!? lol
Well said. I did have the opportunity in '85 or '86 to see them live and they did not disappoint.
Saw Triumph 12 times. Love those guys. They had great songs and high energy concerts. The best!!
@@markcarchedi915me too I saw them about 4 times all in Toronto they were great one of best Rock shows ever and I saw all the best bands from Ozzy to Priest Areosmith Motley Crue,Dio.etc..
nobody was better than Triumph.
Underrated....great band...don't hear stuff like this nowadays....glad I was alive to hear true musicianship....miss those days.
I got to see Triumph twice front row center: once in 1985, then in 1986. Both concerts in Ft. Myers, Florida. I still have the legit set list given to me by one of the security personnel who needed to be on guard for the pyro explosions. I have it framed on my wall. Amazing shows!
It's tragic what happened in that band. Rik is such an unfathomable talent . He really deserves to be a superstar
Rock shows were so much fun back then. Miss those days
My sister was conceived at that show ….. rock on
One of the best bands of the early eighties !
You will say they are not underrated, but amongst the monsters of rock they were for sure. My first underrated rock band is Great White, second is April Wine, and 3rd most underrated band is Triumph. If you were interested in my number 4 pick it was UFO.
"Tears In The Rain" is a great opening number and kicks ass!!
I was at that show ..they really laid it on the line.
They were a rock ‘n’ roll group one of the best..
Awesome! Should be in Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. I think this is the tour where Rick Santers joined them on guitar. Santers was an awesome band in its own right.
..."Lay it on the Line".....top 5 BEST rock Songs EVER??....
Thanks so much for posting that! I have it on dvd but haven't watched it in quite a while! I saw them on this tour in September of '86. This took me back!
Such a great talented band, from Canada, and yet rush was much bigger.
Thank you so much for this incredible band concert! 💕 seen them many times.
What a great recording!
Still, they were a great band/musicians, and underrated. Whether you dislike the video content or not.
They should be in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame
The RRHOF is a joke
Indeed they should be.
RRHOF IS A JOKE
Absolutely right! 💯
What ???? Not over N.W.A. and Jay Z and other assorted garbage that doesn’t fit the genre. RRHF is a rigged joke.
This is a great concert. Every song. Thanks from Wisconsin.
Triumph and Gil Moore were the first band to come out with Pyrotechnics and lazers greatest rock show on earth one time .
Rick Santers is awesome addition to this band .
AMAZING CONCERT !
Canada's 2nd best power trio!❤
GREAT JOB ALL...THANX 4 MAKING Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO the music worldwide.
LOVE YOU ALL...!!!
Awesome sound quality and nice picture for the era, thanks
SOME of my mentors....and in 1987 TRAXTER was born..and got to meet rick and all in bakersfield ca..ooowee
The good old days of Rock and Roll, one of the best bands ever ❤added to those bands are Cinderella, Mr Big, Poison, so many great bands so underrated.
Thanks for posting this. First time i saw Triumph was opening for AC/DC right before Bon Scott died in late 70s. I was hooked from the first moment i saw them and a fan ever since! Incredible group of musicians.
Awesome. I saw over 500 concerts in my life, and fuck me for not seeing Triumph, ACDC, or the Stones, but I saw everyone else you could think of. So weird I never seen those 3 though. Uhggggggg
Anyone from Toronto? Saw them at the CNE Grandstand in the late 70's. Great show.
Rick Emmett is one of the most under rated musicians there is. His talent goes beyond rock.
This is great. I remember seeing this tour fresh out of highschool. Thanks for posting
Holy frapp.. talented boys. But if you know anything about the band Rik was done dirty . So amazing together
This is AWESOME!! I had seen Triumph 3 times, glad to see this again 🤘🤘👍👍👍👍
Don’t know if in nova scotia it was helix as special guest i saw this tour in montreal it was a fantastik show !!!
January 16, my birthday. Thank you for sharing this, Triumph is great!
I saw them in the 80's at the New haven coliseum in Ct. What a Great band! One of the best nights of my life!
What a great sound. And I know the venue well. It’s a five minute drive from my home.
Killer vocals.
Just Freaking Awesome/!!!!
I've just subscribed!
Love Triumph, saw them years ago.
Can't wait to see upcoming posts from you! ❤
So awesome - thanks for sharing!!
i was there🤘
Rush & Triumph - Canada's greatest rock exports. What were the chances that they would both be trio's?
Both are great bands but I always preferred Triumph over Rush.
Love both but I like RUSH first and then Triumph
Don't forget about Saga....
April Wine was another phenomenal band from Canada!
I was at that concert
Seen them 4 times what an awesome band
Yeah, ok
Just stumbled upon this channel and I want to shout out a big Thank You to @LiveClassics for this trip back through memory lane!! In 87 I was 27, so as you can guess, I’ve lived through one of the greatest decades to ever exist. Our generation brought Sex, Drugs & Rock & Roll to the Party and haven’t looked back.. I have a collage of old ticket stubs from the mid 70’s moving forward. Some were as low as $10.50 for festival seating. Priceless…. 🔥🔥🔥
I was 18 in 1987 and I remember paying $40 for Pink Floyd tickets and thought this is so much money 🤑🤑🤑
I remember a couple of times before that when Don King announced the Jacksons’s Victory tour, the ticket price was 35 dollars and I thought that was shocking. Now 350 dollars doesn’t even mean you are in the first couple of rows
Remember kids, the Bic lighter at a live concert was required
now they light up the mobile screen with a insta pic of a bic lighter... 😞
Wow. Dr Feelgood concert and stage was incredible. Now I see where it came from. Same opening with the laser guy. Similar lighting rig.
This was when you watched the band and not your effin phone.
Amazing bank.
I'm guessing you mean "band" to which I say "Hell Yeah!"
25:46 "FOLLOW YOUR HEART"
I was there. Great show
Damnit he was done dirty
Look at the performance of lay I on the line
To bad this Concert wasn’t released on CD and or Blu-ray or possibly 4K with a Dolby ATMOS Audio Mix.
At least they had a motorcycle named after them !
I was 19 and was at this concert….great times!
I was 21 at this show. Great time to be young. I remember staying after as they recorded a video. “ Just One Night “ I think but not sure.
I was 21 as well. I remember the post concert video shoot !
Saw this tour.
Appreciate the memories.
1:03:07 Spellbound
Then midsommersnight day dream right after that
The other Canadian power trio
and also inspired LIONS NAMED LEO aahh yeah
Nice Trio Band👌🤩
were those jackson guitars? don't see that a lot. kind of reminds me of dokken, an 80's power pop band with an A-list guitar-player, which never quite made it to the overall A-list.
Yamaha RGX series
Power Pop, wtf is wrong with you?
Saw Dokken open for Dio in '84 or so..give or take. Not bad...good guitarist....Dio killed it...awesome show.
just 3 guys and no backing tracks
Love it. But, this doesn’t sound live.
GOTTA BE THREE PIECE !!
Why in the hell is "Never Surrender" not in this set list? Was it preformed during the tour but not recorded for this?
Such a shame such a wonderful and talented Band got so soft and commercial for the Sport of Kings record and lost their hardcore fanbase.
Always thought Triumph was a 3 piece band?
They are.. I had seen them 3 times B4 this..was disappointed to see another guitarist on tour..
They were before Sport of Kings but then decided to add a guitarist live because the arrangments Guitar\Keyboards on that album were a bit more complex. CHEERS!
Triumph is a three member band. Rick Santers played some live performances so they didn't have to add pre-recorded keyboards and secondary guitar parts.
Awesome I wondered the same. Makes sense.
Thanks
Thats what I thought and saw live video of the early days that I thought would have been nearly impossible for a three man band to pull off.

Every time I saw Triumph there were only 3 guys.
80s spandex = today's yoga pants.
Hey 80's Rik, try on these yoga pants.
80's Rik: WTF??!!!!
Sneaking suspicion this was pre-recorded, in particular when drummer sings. There are few mystery cymbal strikes too and they seem to make sure all drum fills are filmed from a distance. I want to be wrong but I don’t think I am.
Yep it sounds too polished to be completely live
Obvious at 3:21
They definitely did some overdubs for the DVD release. I don't know why, I have the original VHS release of this show and the original board recordings were fine. It's glaringly obvious during the first song where Moore's cymbal fills are not there in places. Kinda disappointing because Triumph was always a group that prided itself on their live shows; and there was absolutely no reason I could hear on the original tape that the DVD release needed to be overdubbed.
Yep. Was dissapointed when I bought this and watched it. It has been heavily dubbed and the live sound seems too good to be true 😮
I think you're unquestionably correct, but it's not something that every band doesn't do. At least Emmett's voice isn't autotuned. If you want the exact experience of any band, you have to find a bootleg, which are notoriously poor quality. Or you can go to the show, which is unfortunately impossible unless you have the keys to a certain DeLorean. Be well.
nice concert, the additional guitarist is not much needed IMO, i prefer to see just the three of them
Check out their interviews.....it's explained, but I agree with you. I will not compare them to Rush, different genre, but for them to accomplish their music (Rush) without "extra musicians," (which they considered) it is a little concerning.
Alright..Alright, so yall can rock north of the border..🇨🇦🫱🫲🇺🇸
I thought it was Whitesnake…….just for a little while……or Foreigner….I’m confused!! 😳
Gil is the biggest geek ever 😂
they had a 2nd guitarist?
Since when ?
Rik Santers was on guitar and keyboards on this tour.
didn't iommi sometimes tour with a 2nd guitar player, hidden offstage? just one of the ways to get extra guitar parts for a live performance.
“Tears in the rain”?🙄omg smh😂
Good songs. But having a prerecorded playback and using that as the supposedly "live footage is cheap.
Never do you see the audience whilst the camera is filming the band from behind. Also you can see that the synchronisation with what the drummer is playing does not match what is heard in the music.
Unfortunately, they do that a lot. Even for the US festival. Guess their (producers) are trying to make it interesting. Can't believe this kinda stuff (bad producing) still exists where they they think the general public is so dumbed-down.,
@@mortomike6124the US festival was totally legit...have you EVER seen them.live? Doubt it. I have seen them four times '78 to ''83...totally legit band...anyone with half a brain knows Rik is a virtuoso guitarist and vocalist. Including great musicians in their own right..John 5, Steve Perry as a just a couple...Steve Morse...go watch the two accoustic duets he does with Rik...You are a MORON. Is there a few overdubs? Maybe...every live album has them.
Wow! They really suck! 😊
Sport of Kings was commercial garbage. They let the money men direct their band. That's when it all ended.
That is why Rik quit!
It did suck compared to their earlier work. Their new label, MCA, wanted them to go commercial, which led to an end to the band.
Terrible ! 👍
There is something cringy about this
Lip sync anyone?
Frauds.
Get a life! Stop trying to wreck this amazing memory for the fans!!
Why do you consider this a fraud? Milli Vanilli were frauds. At least Triumph were responsible for the writing/performing/recording their own music. Did you consider Michael Jackson a fraud when he filmed the Thriller video? That music was all lip synced too. Find something important to b*tch about.....
It was 37 years ago ffs. Just feel the music. It’s awesome we can enjoy this bands performance however it was produced. 😊
Just because the bands you like can't carry a tune in a bucket? You are a nut.
Weak.
excess of overdubs.
not a sigle note is real...all studio recording
What are you smoking!!!!
Yeah ok dummy
@edwinjahnes2739 they've been snorting Ajax
Stop trying to ruin this awesome memory for Triumph fans! Get a life!!!
Nobody cares about your opinion!!!
@@edwinjahnes2739 They're just used to hearing their favorite bands sound amazing on their studio albums and then sound like garbage live.
This shows why they are forgotten. Very weak band.
Another Selfish Band $
