    Well I thought I had it figured out, exactly like you showed, but the small wire harness that goes to factory amp/sub doesn't fit. Then I've seen some people say they didn't even need that extra small harness. My problem is my front speakers aren't working.

    Im so glad that i found your video! I just ordered new aftermarket radio to replace my shaker 500. On the shaker system i have amp connection, speaker connection (the big harness) and there is the third one that i dont know what is it for. The harness from crutchfield comes with just 2(amp and speakers). What should i do with the third one from my car? I also have a question about your conversion from 12v to 5v. Could i use a 1.5k ohm resistor that would go between two blue/white wires from amp to blue/white wire from aftermarket radio harness instead of voltage regulator? Hope you are all good and that you will see my comment! Thanks!

    Hey thank you so much for the video, i have a 05 Mustang GT with the factory Shaker 500 amplified system with the subs, i bought all the right harnesses, however on ----> images.crutchfieldonline.com/ImageBank/v20140403124600/Manuals/120/120705521.PDF
    it mentioned to connect the blue/white wire from the 12v-5v converter which you have done successfully! However my after market headunit doesnt have the blue/white remote amp turn on wire..... it does have the blue power antenna wire....so could i connect the blue/white wire from the 12v-5v converter to the blue wire that comes out of the head unit that connects to the harnesse's blue wire??? PLEASE HELP ..thanks alot

    • @AtomicFirecracker116
      @AtomicFirecracker116  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So you don't have a blue/white wire from your new aftermarket head unit adapter? Hmm...if you just have a blue wire left after you connect everything else up then I would assume that that is the one you use. I would try it and see if it works. If it doesn't, the customer support team at Crutchfield are fantastic and way more experienced and knowledgeable than me. I would give them a call. Hope this helps! =)

  • @motox20

    Instead of buying the step down converter you can just wire in a 1.5k resistor between the blue/white amp turn on wires on the RCA harness and the blue wire from main harness. Just did this yesterday when installing new radio in a Town Car, works perfectly.

    • @AB-cy4wl
      @AB-cy4wl 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey man, do you think this will do? www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0185FIJY0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      You only need 1 resistor to connect those 3 wires together? or 2 resistors 1 for each wire blue/white wire to connect them to the radio's blue/white wire? Thanks for any help!

    • @motox20
      @motox20 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A B- Yeah that resistor will work. Just need one, what you do is twist the ends of the two blue wires from the harness with the RCA's together and solder the resistor to them and solder the other end to the blue amp turn on wire on the radio harness. Basically you treat the two blue wires on the RCA harness as one wire and treat the resistor like an in-line fuse(in terms of where to put it I mean).
      Also, unrelated but if you happen to have a Pioneer head unit with dvd functionality, even on the newer models you can still just ground the parking brake wire. But since newer models require you to engage the parking brake twice(the bypass switch you can buy uses a pulse for that reason), you can wire the parking brake wire to ground and add a toggle switch, then after the radio turns on(radio requires signal after radio turns on now) just toggle the ground twice and voila.

    the Blue and Blue wire that you hooked together for the conversion wire, was it wires that you hooked to that plastic connector piece or did those blue wires come on that same plug with the two rca wires?

    • @AtomicFirecracker116
      @AtomicFirecracker116  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The new harness for the sub has two blue wires. Connect those wires together as well as the blue and red wire from the converter. There should be a total of three blue wires bound together from the sub. I hope this answers your question and I apologize for replying so late.

One of the others is to the sub that you did a good job explaining how to connect. What is the 3rd connector on the back of the origilan radio for and does it need to be connected? Thanks,

      Never had a problem with wire nuts. They are designed for the purpose of connecting wires together. I prefer them to tape or splicers for the simple fact that I can quickly and easily remove the head unit at any time. If you have the correct size nut for the gage of wire that is being used, then there shouldn't be any problems. =)

    THANKYOU!!! I'm a savvy woman that can use a chainsaw, build pretty much anything with wood, lay floors, clean carburetors etc BUT I've never installed a stereo! My ford 500 OEM stereo ate the dust so I ordered from Crutchfield. My mechanic wanted from 75 to 150 to install it. Now I don't mind paying but I thought how hard could this be. Holy moly I was lost with what to do with this part, what it connected to and the directions were no help. So thank you, you just saved me $ and or much frustration 😉
