    Dang it Mover! Retired F16 Crew Chief here. I just received my Winwing Orion 2 F16Ex joystick to go along with the Thrustmaster F16 throttle. I agree with the pre-assembled no configuration needed with the throttle. Now THIS, but I need some more rudder pedals my old Logitech ones are binding and worn. Makes flying taildraggers nearly impossible. I had to wait on my Winwing base for the stick due to materials. These pedals look robust enough to last awhile. You just verified that for one once again. Here We Go! 😅 Money spent Thanks to Mover AGAIN! Winwing appreciates you.

    Thanks, Mover. Great review and really nice looking pedals. I can only dream of owning such a set. USD328+ (excluding shipping) in my country equals a month's wages. In any event, it's always nice to see new products coming onto the market and receiving a thumbs-up from pros like yourself. Enjoy!

    I've been using the exact same TM pedals you had, so it's great to hear a review from someone who's experienced with the same exact thing I've used. I had the same exact troubles with the TM pedals for the P-51. It's bad enough on my set, that I only use the pedals for large control inputs and I just use the trim control for coordination in gentle turns. If I had that kind of money to throw around, I'd buy these pedals. Unfortunately I can't justify $300+ on a luxury purchase right now, but all the WinWing stuff has looked really impressive.
    Side note, speaking as someone with very little IRL flight experience, I've found that if you land the DCS P-51 with all three wheels simultaneously it tends to be less bouncy. I make a note of where the horizon line is while I'm on the ground, and try to touch down with that same attitude.

    I have the HOTAS Orion throttle and stick for the F 18 from Winwing. I tipped over my flight chair and broke both throttle pedestals. Parts are available and I had 2 new ones in 2 weeks shipped to the Philippines for $50 US. Quite a job to swap out with the fingerlfts, but it all works like new now. It is seriously good engineering.

    Of course they release their rudder pedals right after I just upgraded my HOTAS to WinWing from the Thrustmaster Warthog and I recently purchased the Thrustmnaster pendulum rudders as well.
    The look great though! They look especially good for Choppers without the 'return to centre' springs installed.

      I have the TPR pedals too, but I ordered the winwing pedals because I own the rest of their stuff.
      I wonder how they will compare.

    • @VirusVanquisher
      @VirusVanquisher 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Same! Had buyers remorse over getting the $600 Thrustmaster pendulum rudders but there was nothing that was decent in the low or midrange category except for the VKB ones that don't have toe breaks. Already have the winwing orion 2 hotas max set and this would have been perfect :(

    • @British_Dragon-Simulations
      @British_Dragon-Simulations 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VirusVanquisher Is their anything we can do to mod the Thrustmaster Pendulum rudder pedals? I was thinking of going to the hardware store to get another two extra strong springs to increase the stiffness.
      The pedals are also too high up from the ground as well, at least for my feet and I would like a wooden or plastic U-shape plate to place on the floor in front of them to raise my heels off the ground an inch or two, to meet the bottom of the pedals with the balls of my feet or the middle arch of my feet.
      I also don't like that my feet can slip off the side of the pedals, so I was thinking of getting fine sand paper stickers and putting it on the bottom of the pedals.
      I know you can buy a damper that fits on the back that stops the bouncing when it returns to centre, but I was hoping for a mod for helecopters so that the rudders just stay in place to better trim helicopter's.

    • @VirusVanquisher
      @VirusVanquisher 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@British_Dragon-Simulations the TPR pedals are supposed to be very adjustable. I have not played with mine extensively. There are 2 springs on the back that affect the resistance. There is a bolt that might be a way to tighten. Not sure if they offer stronger springs.

    • @British_Dragon-Simulations
      @British_Dragon-Simulations 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VirusVanquisher The springs look really simple. They just have hooks on both ends. I'll probable be able to buy some stronger ones and maybe have the stronger ones at the bottom and the default Thrustmaster ones at the top if they fit nicely.
      I didn't know about the bolt. I'll have a look and see. Thanks!

    Have the Orion2 MAX set that came with F-18 Handles and F-16EX Stick , then upgraded to F-15EX handles and now pre-orderd the WINWING Rudder Pedals , uing the Logitech Rudder Pedals right now . All I can say my DCS flying dramaticaly improved once I start using the WINWING Throttle/Stick setup , and largly where precison flying is requerd , formation flying , refuling . Love the setup and build quality and Im sure the peddals will be very good too.

    I'm looking to grab that dampener for my Virpil pedals. I've mostly been flying helicopters lately, and it would be nice to have a bit of faked pedal hold where I can just move them and have the pedals stick where they are.
    Nice to see Winwing getting into the pedal market. I got the Orion throttle about 2 years ago, and I've been loving it, especially with the realistic F/A-18 grip setup. I've just never been able to get into the fantasy designs of some of the other throttles on the market.

      @@Hyena_91 That's the one! I saw a little teaser video for it and instantly wanted to grab it. It looks awesome in general, and while the pedals were already pretty much perfect, especially after I swapped the foot plates so I could rest my heels on the floor, that dampener would really make helicopters even easier to fly.

    Damn, as soon as I saw them I thought of my Slaw RX Vipers that I bought 5 or 6 years ago! Expensive, but they're worth every penny. Best darn pedals I've ever used outside of a real airplane lol. Great for both fixed and rotary wing and they came assembled. All I had to do is buy the damper separately and install it. I think I know where Winwing got their designs from 😂. It's all good. BTW, getting my tailwheel IRL was a blast, as I'm sure you know. A lot of work at first, but once it clicks, it's a blast! Wish I'd learn on a TW first, instead of a Skyhawk 😅

      I have TM, Wingwing and Virpil and i would say that ww products are a hit and miss. I had to mod the antenna elevator axis on the F-16 EX throttle handle because it was loose and wobbly. There are two thumb axis wheels on the Orion 2 throttle unit that are very loose and has to be modded. The customer service sucks cause they don't give you any help. So keep your TM rudder pedals. My TM Warthog throttle unit is of higher quality but have less buttons so it is a tradeoff. The WW joystick base are of higher quality than the TM one and the Virpil Mongoos joystick base are the best of those 3.

    Hi Mover, great review as always. Could you please explain a little that dumper thingie for u non-RL-aviators? Does it allow to fly helicopter setup, and it enables the rudder not to return to center?

    • @CWLemoine
      @CWLemoine  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The pin is for cars. The pedals can be used as a gas/brake. The damper just changes the rebound (bouncing). The spring is what you’d have to change to change overall resistance.

    • @The.Toaster
      @The.Toaster 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CWLemoine I've just received mine today and assembled it all. Your damper looks different to the one I received.
      Mine has more damping one way than the other. So pressing the right rudder pedal feels resistance but pressing the left pedal is not much at all. If you jerk the assembly you can see one way the return to center is soft but the other is all on the spring.
      It's like the damper resistance is unbalanced. I think they have a different damper for the collective they sell.
      Do you notice this behaviour with yours at all? 🤔

  • @faelwolf1177

    Wonder what took them so long to come up with pedals. It was a pretty big gap in their lineup.

  • @jasonhaettich2610
    @jasonhaettich2610 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    when you cycle the pedals back and forth, it looks like the dampener only travels like a half an inch or less. Is that assembled correctly? The dampener itself looks like it could have about 6 inches of travel, but it's only using that small amount?

    • @Bwaze
      @Bwaze 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't have the Wingwing pedals (yet), but I installed similar damper on my Baur / Virpil ACE Interceptor, and it uses similar range of movement. Those motorcycle steering dampers are kind of strong (even when dialed down), and by moving it to a point where you only move them by small amount you decrease their effect, and it also decreases all the possible negative effects if the damper isn't really high quality (like slack when changing direction).

    • @WhiteHawk77
      @WhiteHawk77 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Bwazedoes the small percentage of travel also help with reducing stiction? These cheap motorcycle dampers are VERY hit or miss with having a load of stiction which just makes them unusable quite often, I know, I got a few including MFG’s kit and all had too much stiction so gave adding one to my Virpil pedals.

    I think they have a good thing going, especially now that Honeycomb could potentially be going belly up. The WinWing stuff has great price points and seem to be made well. Unfortunately I was in the market for pedals before these came out, but I can attest to your point where upgrading from the TFRP to something as nice as these, it drastically improves your enjoyment in-game. I was doing the same things you mentioned in the Huey/Apache because the TFRP's were causing issues, and immediately upon upgrading it was a night and day difference. Thanks for the review Mover!

      Little bit more to it than that, but I agree that no one should pre-order. I think you misread my comment, I already bought pedals prior to WinWing's becoming available.
