Carrie's date wasn't in on the prank. Tommy was actually the Greatest American Hero. It was basically just Officer Anne Lewis and Vinnie Barbarino pulling off the prank. But Carrie might have paranoidly presumed everybody was in on it.
I'd also like to think that not everyone would have been laughing at her. That's not funny, it's sick. Like seriously, the one teacher that was actually nice to her winds up laughing with everyone else? I don't think so.
@kellycauseskhaos in the book version the teacher was laughing but felt guilty. I think King was showing how even relatively good people can get swept up in mass hysteria.
Mike Flannagan’s attention to detail in Doctor Sleep cannot be overstated. The scene in Dr. John Dalton’s office where he’s talking to Danny about his watch had me geeking out.
@@weisswurstfruhstuck8523 actually I hate most movies today and rarely go to the theaters. My sentiment is pretty much the same as yours, I just appreciate things I notice filmmakers do that fans like me can discuss with other fans.
Silver Bullet is awesome! This is how I introduced my then 10yo to King horror. It deserves to be much higher on the list, if not for Gary Busey alone.
My personal favourites: 1. Carrie (1976. Only version that should exist!) 2. Misery. 3. Creepshow. 4. Creepshow 2. 5. The Shining. 6. The Green Mile. 7. Shawshank Redemption.
I personally liked the lawnmower man. I know it's not an good movie in the slightest but I think it has a bit of an quirky charm. Plus maximum overdrive reminds me a bit of the happening and the green goblin truck was just weird.
The think about Lawnmower Man is that it has nothing at all in common with the Stephen King story except the title. That was the real reason he sued to have his name taken off, not because it was a bad movie.
Personally, I love the whole top 11, but I think Shawshank is miles better than any other on this list. Even the Shining. The Shining is one of the greatest horror movies ever, but Shawshank is one of the greatest movies ever.
Ouffff Silver Bullet and Maximum Overdrive are absolutely some of my favourite movies. Both are nowhere near as bad as most King movies. This list is absolutely mental.
The main problem with "The Mangler," and several other King movies, is they're based on SHORT stories, sometimes with as few as 10 pages. If Stephen King is writing SHORT, you can not stretch it to fill movie standards. There isn't enough there.
This was only theatrical movies. They also didn't have the 1990 version of "It", either version of "The Stand", "The Tommy Knockers", etc. Wait, "Gerald's Game" was straight to Netflix, wasn't it? Hmmm...
the original "Salem's Lot", "IT", and "The Stand" were not included because they were all made for TV mini series, yet all deserve to be in the top 5 of King's greatest works ever adapted to film. While I liked the movie remake of "IT", the TV mini series was much more creepy.
I dunno man...I waited 20 yrs for The Mist to be made and thoroughly enjoyed it right up to the ending that destroyed the whole thing, so I hesitate to want any of my favorite King stories to be adapted anymore. And The Long Walk is one of my favs.
Not exactly. Big streamers are studios and they often put the same, if not more, resources behind their projects as theatrical studios. Straight to DVD were either developed cheaply by a studio or they were indies, but either way they weren’t given the same resources as studio fare developed for theatrical release (with the exception of ones that were but got dumped direct to dvd because they were so terrible or unmarketable).
@@MarcusKohl Correct....the difference between a streaming movie and a straight to DvD movie is that the streaming movie is made like a theatrical release just at the behest of the streaming platform, whereas straight to DVD movies were usually cheap knock offs designed as quick money grabs and usually cheaply made.
I only watched 15 of those 50 movies😅, so here is my top 5: 1 - It Chapter 1 2 - Stand By Me 3 - Shawshank Redemption 4 - The Green Mile 5 - It Chapter 2 Hm to Doctor Sleep.
Salem's Lot and The Stand (arguably two of Stephen King's greatest works) were both adapted as made for TV mini series, so were not "eligible" for this list, which is a shame, because they should be #1 and #2 on ANY list.
Gotta give King credit for directing a movie himself. So many authors have to suffer with their work changed IMMENSELY on screen. King is no exception.
Stand by Me as number 1? Meh. It's good, really good. But The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, Misery, and the Shining far outshine it. Overwhelmingly so.
Realized after watching this I love far more King movies than I dislike. Seriously maybe ten of them didn’t need to be made, but otherwise they are all good in their own ways.
The Lawnmower man gilm has NOTHING at all to do with the Stephen King novel. Thats why he repeatedly won lawsuits to have his name removed from the film.
That was an original screenplay, it wasn't from a King novel or story, which they said at the beginning of the video that those type were not included.
Started this video thinking that there might be quite a few I've not seen, possibly even a few I didn't know existed. Turns out I've heard of all of them, and the few I have not seen was a very deliberate choice not to see. I guess that being a fan of his books most of my life has resulted in me actually seeing more of the adaptations than I thought I had.
My top Stephen King films are 10) Silver Bullet 9) Children Of The Corn 8) Maximum Overdrive 7) Cujo 6) Needful Things 5) Pet Sematary 4) The Running Man 3) Creepshow 2) Carrie/The Shining (tie) 1) The Dead Zone
This list lost me when they put Silver Bullet so low. I like Maximum Overdrive but can understand it is an acquired taste and a favorite to bash on. But Silver Bullet is a solid werewolf flick.
A TV show of The Shop would be cool especially if theres a strike team for the supernatural vs government/higher ups with character of varied moralities within. Like The Shield meets S.H.I.E.L.D in a mature Stepjen King universe
I don't think most of the remakes are as bad. The just had and have the unfortunate problem, that they are and will always be compared to the original movie. And given that most of them are considered "classics" and ususally masterpieces, they never stood a chance in the first place. The lesson for Hollywood: Stay away from remakes.
The Night Flyer needs a Nightcrawler style reboot. Bill Skarsgard in lead as the reporter could be a great King lead that'd be wat different from Pennywise.
IT has the most merch and is more rewatchable. I like the Shining, SBM, Shawshank and Carrie the most is ok, the rest I didnt know existed. Never was a big fan of green mile. I liked Lawnmower man back in the day.
Needful things deserved a much higher rating. Also, it's hard to judge some of these when the source material is just bonkers sometimes (dreamcatcher).
Bruh you got creepshow 2 on here twice the first time talked about why it’s bad then had it higher saying how good it was butchered different parts lol
Based on how these movies are described, it sounds like your writer hasn't even watched many of them.
Exactly. Just reading them mindlessly off of a list.
Yep
The algorithm needs content!!! It doesn't have to be accurate or even good, just feed it!!!
Silver bullet was great
Silver Bullet is amazing
In what universe are Maximum Overdrive and Silver Bullet worse than Children of the Corn?
Dead Zone should have been ranked higher! It is a jewel! And Walken in one of his most heartfelt performances 🥺
The ice is gonna break!!
This video has the most clip mistakes that i ever seen
Doctor sleep is a little low there imo. That's one of the best legacy sequels ever made
Easily
i found dr sleep to be quite boring but that’s just my opinion
I LOVE Maximum Overdrive
Should be top 10
Agreed
That movie was terrible, stop ironically liking things

Shawshank redemption deserves the top spot, and that's a fact, not an opinion

Shawshank Redemption is #1 in my books...it's arguably the best movie ever made let alone the best Stephen King movie adaptation.
My personal opinion : "Misery" is the best adaptation with a brilliant performance from Kathy Bates.

Silver Bullet's a good film. Dude even said it looks bad, so I doubt he even watched.

lol....maybe they got their Stephens mixed up?
Personal Favorites - Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Misery (best Villain portrayal of all King novels) Dead Zone, The Shining ❤️

Shawshank Redemption, Carrie and Misery get my vote, though Shawshank doesn't really contain any real supernatural elements.
🏆🥇
Many of his books/films don't deal with the supernatural. Misery is also free of the supernatural.
Green Mile
Green Mile
