I always figured that the Final Destination series isn't a group of people cheating death, but more Death screwing with people so they can make the most insane Rube Goldberg machine deaths he can think of.

this list should have included "Cabin in the Woods" as well as "Don't be Afraid of the Dark" and "The Collection" very good movies that the villains won.
In what way did the villain win in the Collection? He won in the collector but not collection, since he was taken into the box by Arkin
Absolutely wild that Cabin In The Woods wasn't number one, after watching this entire list of second-rate movies.
The bad guys didn't win in Cabin in the Woods. The antagonists of that film are *not* the giant destructive gods being kept at bay by the ritual - they're the covert organization murdering people to keep the ritual going.
In life, Calvin wasn't hostile at first. Curious is a more accurate word, when they shocked it it thought it was being attacked but until that point it showed no signs of hostility. Even with the rat, it was rubbing it's fur, maybe never seen a mammal before, and the rat, confused as to what was happening and already under a good amount of stress bit Calvin inciting it to attack and kill. So twice it was attacked, it was defending itself in its mind probably. Gotta get them before they get me kind of deal. And we can't fault the astronauts for being outsmarted by it, it was INCREDIBLY intelligent. Knew exactly how to get through the rubber glove to escape the box it was confined in. Just cause it uses the same cells to think and move doesn't mean much. People often make the mistake of trying to hold extraterrestrial life forms to the same "rules" of life as us. Just like in alien when they said there's no way an organism could have grown that much in so little time without consuming more organic material. For all we know it used oxygen in that way.
I'm so goddamn sick of seeing Ann on lists of horror villains who won. She didn't win! The FIRST thing the cops would see upon collecting evidence from the crime scene would be the prosthetic Ginnie mask because Ann was too stupid to destroy it!
Plus! Plus she died! She still lost. LOL. I didn't understand the inclusion on this list either.
Hopefully the police find the evidence and do some forensic research.

The scariest thing about Unfriended was that they Used Skype, but that made it seems more realistic because if you had Skype and someone on your friend's list was compromised, you were as-well.

The part that intrigues me with "The Cleansing Hour" is that Lucifer was *not* the demon possessing her throughout the broadcast - it was instead one of his lieutenants, while Lucy himself lurked in a nearby corpse until the time was right.
The villain did win in Cocaine Bear, but it was not the bears, it was the cocaine.

7:55 I got a theory about this one... it's in the same universe as the cabin in the woods movie and the lizard people are just another subgroup of monsters that are working with their own special rules
For all we know, the sacrifice may have worked and the crops were perfectly opulent the year following the end of "The wicker man".
Ultimately it doesn’t really matter.
Kalie really should have kept the sheet over the mirror and immediately set off the trap to destroy it. I mean, her brother was out of the institution by then, and she had to have realized that she was just risking their lives for no reward.
It wouldn’t have gotten all those years back.
Do I think that would have stopped the mirror? Probably not. It probably would have been passed to all the pieces of it.
But at least she wouldn’t have looked so dumb by handing herself, her brother, her lover and a poor innocent dog over to it.
I'll add 38: Freddy Krueger, he won in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 when he killed Kristen Parker, who was the last child of the vigilantes that murdered Freddy.
That bus scene in Texas Chainsaw is so insanely over the top. At one point I was laughing because of the gore trope going way too far.

A long list with more conjecture than proof that the villain wins. But Shrooms. It’s a movie where teens go and pick magic mushrooms. But they get picked off one by one. TIL it turns out the killer is the female lead and despite the realisation she appears to not care that she’s killed her mates. Though admittedly I can’t remember if she dies at the end in a car crash. I feel I remember that but it may be a different movie
I feel like the woman from Malignant has a decent shot of being acquitted thanks to the medical documentation of Gabriel’s existence and what witnesses saw her do.
It wouldn’t be easy but it’d create reasonable doubt.

I don’t think that Better Watch Out counts. You don’t see the girl die. In Glass, Ellie might have “ won “ but she and her organization are, I believe, truly screwed. The people viewing it seem to really believe it.

Also in orphan, doesn't the mom catch in to Ester because she secretly killed the original little girl? Pretty sure she knew Ester was an imposter because she killed that child, she wasn't missing. So whether esters disguise failed her or not, she'd have been found out.
Her brother did but yeah the mom knew cuz she's the one who covered up the poor girls death. Honestly I was rooting for Esther in that film lol
With the 22 Leather Face I couldn't understand why they didn't just let the old lady live there. She could be a pillar of the past for all the pretentious gentry to point toand say 'Look, we preserved something.
Because they have to cancel the past. The past wasn't nice to everyone. So it has to be cancelled.
If a person comes across the alternative ending of "Freddy vs. Jason", they learn of a twist, in which it appears that no one survives. The scene shows that Laurie and Will decide to celebrate their victory, by giving their virginities to each other. A few seconds in, Will leans slightly backwards off of Laurie in the bed, as if he's about to seal the proverbial deal. Instead, he pulls back his right hand, and it morphs into Freddy Kruger's glove. This ending was scrapped, because the studio didn't want Jason Ritter to be tied down to making "Son of Freddy"-type sequels. (8/31/2024)

I saw that on late night TV (around the 2000's) and really spent the movie wondering what it I was watching until the end. Strangely its never been played on TV since. I wonder why.
This is a very common theme in horror movies. The villains usually win. Makes me wonder what the point of watching even is if we know the villain is always gonna win.

You know what I will never understand about the first two victims of the Saw movie the literal fact that one of them could have just shot the lock off the chain that way one of them could have just escaped their shackles and explored the area to eventually find the key or another way to get help or even more ammunition for the gun maybe that's just me but I feel like that's the only thing that makes no sense about the first movie

I always hated the characters' stupidity in Oculus. It's very clearly established *much earlier in the movie* that the mirror CAN mess with them, and can do it in a way that DOES NOT prove paranormal activity on camera. At that point, smash the fucking thing and leave, your mission cannot succeed.
