@@jeffreycairns767 Actually, Sam Kinison was never cast as Al Bundy. Despite being offered the role, Kinison opted not to take on the character. Fortunately for viewers, his decision led to the casting of Ed O'Neill, who became synonymous with the role.

@@REALAMERICANMAN531 Not true dude. Ed O'Neill (Al Bundy) was actually very cautious about what he said to Katey Sagal because he liked her a lot as a person and didn't want to cross the line. To remedy this he suggested that she write the jokes that he would use to insult her and he would write the jokes used to insult him. That way it could be funny without anyone going too far for the other persons comfort. I'm older, my uncle worked on the show when it was on air. He knew them both and told me many stories about the antics that went on behind the scenes. Katey Sagal also went on to be the voice of Leela on Futurama, she played Gemma on Sons of Anarchy and had countless other roles in film and television. She is a very talented actress with a wide range.

In the later seasons of Married with Children Amanda Bearse was directing episodes and helped write most of the fat jokes hence why she wasn't offended. Also there was an episode where she played herself as Marcy's cousin who was a lesbian. Amanda is a lesbian in real life so this was her way of coming out. One clip you two will die laughing is Al vs Ms. Blaub. It is absolutely funny
That show never Held back. and thats why I liked it. By the way Diana Bellamy was the Fat Joke writer. she was Shirley in the show. she was in the very 1st episod.
Ed O'Neil had a cameo in Wayne's World that was every bit as funny as anything he did as Al Bundy. The clip is only about a minute, but if you've never seen Wayne's World, I'd recommend it. It's 90s as ALL HELL, but that's half the fun of watching it these days. Not only is it still a funny movie like it always was, but it's turned into such a perfect snapshot of 90s culture.
"You should see what he's like with Midgets." That fact we never see Al with a Midget makes this 10x funnier. As if the writers were saying "Yeah, even WE can't put that on Television."
The one who plays Marcy his real life friend that he always makes fun of that goes back and forth together she's a comedian and she's the one who wrote All these jokes hilarious😂
Ohh the days of MARRIED WITH CHILDREN, AND Carol O'CONNER and ALL IN THE FAMILY!! The only shows funnier than those were THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW and I LOVE LUCY, THE JACKIE GLEASON SHOW, and an old classic that Joe Biden must have watched to learn how to fall up the stairs, THE RED SKELTON SHOW!!
They're talking bringing the show back as an animated series but I can't see them getting away with these jokes now, everyone's too whiny. Ed O'Neil has great comedic timing as I don't know if these jokes would work as well.
First I gotta say I always smash that Like button on every video. I do have a question though, how long do you give each video to hit the target goal of Likes?? haha. Just something I have been wondering about. Anyway hilarious video and even funnier reaction. Al Bundy is a legend!!

That is actually not true, these jokes (and worse) and this show can still be done today. What can't be done anymore is being lazy about it, you can't get away with relying on just being shocking, you actually have to be funny now and have a sense of timing, you actually have to be good as a comedian.
@Caderynwolf Al's deadpan delivery, the roasting, the references, the timing - all that combined made the show funny. It wasn't lazy, it had a certain convention, that made it comfortable to watch, and the characters likeable and relatable. It certainly wasn't built on the shock factor alone. And no, it couldn't be done today, with all the political correctness and walking on eggshells mentality. Maybe as an indie project, by someone not easily giving in to backlash, but certainly not by the mainstream.
The increased political correctness is exactly why another show of this kind is _inevitable._ This show was made in the first place as a response to how uptight and sterilized TV had gotten in the 80s as the first wave of this PC shit was starting. And it was controversial _then,_ too. The same kind of assholes tried to get it taken off the air then, too, and it caused the show to get tons of free publicity and ratings shot up. And Fox was a brand new network, because it saw money to be made in being the rebel network that made the kind of shows that the main 3 networks wouldn't touch. And it scratched such an itch that Fox became a legit major TV network within just a few years of launching.
Comedy writers gave zero fucks back in the day, that's why comedy was better then, comedy is at its best when boundaries are being pushed and no one worries about who may be offended
