@goldwrapper So, that joke was improv and the guy playing Jefferson was expecting something different. That laugh is legitimate because he was completely caught off guard. It's only speaks to the ability of the actress playing Darcy to keep a straight face.
I grew up watching Married With Children. It was quality entertainment. This show helped form my "support your family, take no crap, and never give up" mindset.
As someone who grew up on shows like Married With Children, Jackass, Beavis and Butthead and Daria.... you can imagine what I think and feel about our current world xD A show like this wouldn't even make the pilot in this days. Also, Al Bundy was awesome
Even back then Al was set up to be a bit of a looser as a character which is why he/the show got away with jokes like these. These jokes were controversial even for their time! But even with that premise exaggerated even further this show would've had no chance today. Al Bundy was indeed an underdog hero.
Ed O'Neill, just as a piece of fun trivia, played football for Youngstown State, then spent the 1969 NFL season on the Steelers' practice squad. He also earned a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu in 2006 or so after studying with one of the Gracies.
Problem is no matter how hard they tried they couldnt cancel it bc the writers of the jokes were the ones the jokes were about. Kinda hard to cancel when the “victims” are the ones coming up w the jokes.
I don't know how many times I've seen this clip, it still cracks me up every time. I never watched MWC when it first aired because I was living overseas. I have seen bits and pieces of the show since then.
I'm told that the large ladies in these clips were comedians and wrote all those fat jokes. Somehow makes it twice as funny. And young man, you have one jolly laugh. I love it!
@@LighthawkTenchi It really made it a lot better for me after knowing this. And seeing interviews with Mr. O'Neill since, he seems like a really terrific guy. Hence, I watch every reaction to this I can find!

Al Bundy; The Man. The Myth. The Legend who doesn't give 2 f--ks about anything! If there's a new Bud Light commercial on "Real Men of Genius," Al Bundy is the man for the job. 😆
When Ron Leavitt & Michael Moye came up with the show, they started with their working title, which was (and I'm not kidding): _Not the Cosby's._ That, right there, tells you all you'd need to know about how the show was going to go.
"Married with Children" was an early example of a show co-produced by an African-American. Michael Moye helped create and produce it as an "Anti Cosby" show. He concepted it, wrote a lot of the early episodes and produced it. Far more original and accomplished than a lot of people who get "first" headlines today.
Fun Fact Ed Oneill and Amanda Bearse had a long standing feud throughout the series and never got along to this day.I think it added to the authenticity of their characters.
We didn’t cut the video for any reason other than copyright issue with the show lol so yea it’s like 40 seconds cut out

Not really. It would just go streaming services. There are worse things out there
It wouldn't. Just no writers or producers with talent around anymore.
@@MrProthall There are, but the best ones do drama. I will say that sitcoms aren't very popular anymore and most would rather watch shows like Ozark.
Like it has anything on It's Always Sunny. People whined about it at the time anyway.
Jefferson laughing behind her back is the best.

Al calling Marcy a chicken never gets old
The fact that Marcy, and many of the ladies he roasted came up with the material (most of the ladies were comedians) is the best.
"with every bullet so far"... I've used that line so many times.
The "half a tank of gas" was my favorite. :)

Al Bundy was a savage ☠️
Amanda Bearse (Marcy) hated Ed O'Neill (Al) in real life. One of the reasons them insulting each other works so well!
Ya know the game Grand Theft Auto? They didn’t just pick that name out of thin air.
There is a huge difference between Grand Theft Auto and Carjacking.
She shouldn’t be surprised about you talking about stealing cars, you’re wearing a Raiders hat😂

Loved this show so damn much!!!
Back when people actually had a sense of humor and most people understood what comedy was about.
Heck, a lot of the fat ladies roasted by Al were comedians, who wrote the jokes for themselves 😄
Al Bundy is one of the best TV characters ever. That, "well I'd say behind your back but my cars only got half a tank of gas" line is hilarious.
Just so everyone knows, these heavyweight women volunteered for these roles and even helped with the jokes!
They were all comedians.
The good old days of sit coms where you didn’t get cancelled for every thing you said.
Eh they did try. Again and again with this show lol
Problem is no matter how hard they tried they couldnt cancel it bc the writers of the jokes were the ones the jokes were about. Kinda hard to cancel when the “victims” are the ones coming up w the jokes.
I wish we could have shows like this still!
Great show. Al Bundy had no filter
He was the best. We watched this all the time.
Every thing Ed O Neal does is golden ! Everything !
Al Bundy is the best

this is the golden years of TV when you would literally be crying from how funny everything was. 😂
this show is on hulu😂. al had no chill. "you know, peg for a sasquatch, your mom's not half bad" 😂
Al Bundys insults were the best!!!!!
Married with Children was always my favorite and the older I get the more I relate to Al Bundy.
Not only did Katey Sagal portray Peg Bundy on "Married With Children" & Gemma on "Sons of Anarchy", but she's also the voice of Leela on "Futurama"
Watched this all the time growing up. One of the best
It's crazy that the woman that played Marcy wrote a lot of Al's lines for the show.
such a great show, i recommend watching it.
I love this show. Bundy's insults are the best.

The "expecting" joke is classic!
The best part about the fat jokes is that most of them were written by the women who were getting roasted.
“I was a hoodlum” 😂
