    My ford book shows that the marauder, mach 1, aviator and cobras use the same cams.....only different oem cam was the intake cam from the 96-01 cobra

    • @scottnewton1021

      96-98 cams are slightly better than the 99-01 cams. Both are a good upgrade from 03-04 cobra, Mach, aviator, muradar cams

    Its all in the tune buddy, I have a 98 cobra, 60# injectors, comp 106460, and terminator x in front of a 6r80 trans, b heads love to stay up high on the tach and the cams, trans, and 373 gear make it very lively.

      Do you think those 460 cams would work well in an NA setup? What kind of air are you pushing and what hp/torque numbers are you getting?

    The ideas people think about with these heads are not based in deep thought. The IMRCs on the B head allow for higher flow where the injector is making for better fuel atomization cruising. The problem is that the second ports carbon up, same with direct injected motors. The other issue is the lip on the primary valve combustion chamber which should be removed. Also, the biggest advantage of the B head is a short runner intake mod, which increases internal volume of the intake. Research PHP naturally aspirated intake manifold modification, +30rwhp with no loss of power down low. They could get that engine running 12's with no blower. I also noticed, Cobra timing doesn't work for the B heads. I had to reprogram the entire map on my B head Cobra engine, and is VERY snappy now.

    Good shit brotha! I have 2 mach 1’s myself, 1 is my daily and the other is getting built as we speak! 4.6 Stroked to 5.0 with forged internals, teksid block, tremec 6 speed, full suspension kit. Just getting the car together for now, shooting for boost coming early next year 🤞🏾

    You forgot to mention that the main down fall of the B head is the threding of the spark plugs ! 96 cobra 1200 rwhp 76/75 precision

    • @nicholash8021
      @nicholash8021 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is 76/75 precision? What's wrong with the spark plug threads? I have a 96 Cobra ans never noticed an issue with plug threads. I am looking to spend a max of $3k toward HP gains and not sure how to spend it. I have a bassani x-pipe, cold air, under drive pulleys, and a larger radiator. I need to pull the engine and replace the head gasket. While it's out, I want to take advantage of any upgrades.

    • @Prestiged_peck
      @Prestiged_peck 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@nicholash8021 76/75 precision is a turbocharger from precision turbos, shorthand. And all 4.6 and 5.4's have issues with ejecting the spark plugs under high cylinder pressures usually only encountered in heavily built and boosted engines. You may know some of the 5.4's have issues even in stock form. This can be fixed with good inserts, most machine shops use cal-van inserts, and it's an excellent idea if the cylinder heads are off the motor to do the cal-van inserts while they're off. The later 9 thread heads (adjusted castings to add threads in the spark plug hole, early castings oy had 4 full threads) had nowhere near as many issues, but it can still happen under boost and therefore is still a good idea.

    • @Prestiged_peck
      @Prestiged_peck 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Don't forget the fact that B heads have been faster than any regular C head in the quarter mile, only beat out by the famous GT supercar/GT500 cylinder heads, and the issues that defeated the B heads appeared well past the 2k horsepower mark.

    • @nicholash8021
      @nicholash8021 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Prestiged_peck Holy cow 4 threads... what were they thinking?!! I pulled the motor and now have it on a stand. Thinking to tig weld some metal and re-tapping the heads to at least double the threads.
      Heard great things about the B heads and my Teksid block. I was advised that I could benefit from some cams by John from Accufab Racing. What a wealth of knowledge he is--not to mention all the records he's made on these motors.

    • @Prestiged_peck
      @Prestiged_peck 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Nicholas H DO NOT WELD THOSE HEADS, THEY WILL CRACK use the cal-van inserts.
      Edit: for racing duty the ford aluminum inserts are actually better.

    Know what your talking about...lol. B heads out flow any c head just look it up....they actually flow to much that's why they have imrc....just open up the exhaust ports and b heads can support 2000hp....

    • @nicholash8021
      @nicholash8021 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      B heads have a lot of potential but from 3200 RPM and up, IMRC deletes provide a substantial gain in power. Below 3200 RPM, the increased air speed with the IMRC plates closed helps a bit, but it's definitely in the way at higher RPMs and overall better to go with the deletes. See this vid th-cam.com/video/D7hKllTCSX8/w-d-xo.html.

    • @BC08
      @BC08 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not as they came from Ford they don’t.
      The 03/04 castings outflow both B-heads and 99/01 C heads on both intake and exhaust sides.

    • @BC08
      @BC08 ปีที่แล้ว

      B-heads do have a ton of intake runner volume which helps them on high boost setups - but for N/A and milder boost setup 03/04 is where it’s at - more flow with less port volume.

      Nobody makes a carburetor intake for the B heads, but it would be a VERY interesting test method. I'm personally going to make a custom intake with staged injection that puts the secondary injector that comes in when you try to make real power in the runner for that secondary port.

      Careful on some of the used 03-04 4V heads there was an issue with some early castings having only 3-4 threads on the spark plug hole, Cobras had a problem spitting plugs out at high boost. Look for a 7 thread 4V head if adding high boost.
