      @@willbebetter5368 There's 2 ways. First you can show it from the Windows menu. Then drag and dock it somewhere.
      2nd, you can reset your whole workspace. Windows > Workspace > Reset to Default Rooms.
      Whichever method you chose, after you've set your rooms up, I recommend locking them with:
      Windows > Workspace > Lock Room Panes
      Then you can't accidentally undock any windows.

      Photoshop support has not quite been prefect for a while, but it has been improved since v1.6. So if you haven't upgraded to a nightly build for a while, that could fix your issue.

      @@DarrenTAnims - I'm in the investigation phase, and went through your video list and I see that Tahoma2D is also very popular and based on the same engine. Another youtuber suggests that Tahoma2D is easier for a beginner such as myself. Would you agree? And is Tahoma2D as powerful as OpenToonz? I have these great ideas, a series of stories, that I would love to see animated. I'm probably a good bit older than yourself and so I'm looking at things from a time vs productivity angle. I've watched a few others of yours and similar youtubers, and again, I thank you for your clarity and honesty. Cheers!

    • @DarrenTAnims
      @DarrenTAnims  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Novalarke Tahoma2D is 95% the same as OpenToonz, but with the interface simplified, to make it more palatable to beginners, and with a few extra little features.
      I think it's slightly easier to learn, but it is almost identical. The good news is, you can use them alternately. So install OpenToonz and download Tahoma (it's a portable, so you don't install it, you just unzip and move the folder somewhere). Plus, so far, you can start work in one program and load it into the other if you change your mind.
      But before going ahead with your series, you should definitely work out the kinks with lots of experiments and smaller animations. There's lots to learn for yourself, to figure out the workflow that suits you.

    • @DarrenTAnims
      @DarrenTAnims  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to just switch between them by loading each one in turn. There is a new feature called the PreProduction Board that can help: th-cam.com/video/YrnjQ9h9y7k/w-d-xo.html
      A level is the set of drawings and the column is like a layer. That's where you expose drawings from the level. And drawings from your levels can be exposed in multiple columns.

    how can i scale down the clickable stuff to see more of my tools at the same time without without having to look for them or move them around so much on the screen?

    • @DarrenTAnims
      @DarrenTAnims  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't easily scale the layout of the screen. But you can change your scale on your computer. I know lots of Windows users have their desktop scaling set to 150%. By dropping this to 100%, you'll see more in OpenToonz.
      Also, do have a go at building your own rooms with ONLY the panels that you want. I regularly create a "Large Drawing" room, with just the viewer, toolbar and toolbar options on it, so once I've chosen my frame and palette entry, I can just draw and switch tools easily.
      Finally, don't forget you can make any panel full screen temporarily using the toggle button ` (single backward quote - to the left of the number 1 key on US/UK keyboards)

      It sounds like you've clicked on the level strip. That gives you a gray background. Try clicking on an expert drawing on the timeline.
      The train you wouldn't be able to draw on it is if you hadn't selected a level or a drawing.
      If this isn't it then if you share a screenshot on my Discord (link in the description) I should be able to see what the problem is.

      You can import some vector drawings from other program, but you're likely to not get 100% of the drawings. Ideally you'd redraw them in OpenToonz, but it's worth trying them. If they don't import, you can always try exporting them to png images first, then importing those.

      If you're referring to the rooms in OpenToonz, you can use whichever room makes sense to you. The rooms are just a collection of windows and you can add & remove windows from any room.
      But if you mean that you can't see the same rooms as me, then try either resetting your rooms, from the Windows menu (and restarting OpenToonz) or reinstall lbs, remembering to rename your OpenToonz Stuff folder before installing. The stuff folder is where the settings are stored.

      If it downloaded correctly then re-downloading it won't help.
      It could be an issue work your anti virus. Try disabling it before you run OpenToonz and see if that helps. If so, add your OpenToonz stuff folder as an exception folder and all should be well.

      This happens to some users. The main tips I can share are:
      - Save regularly.
      - Update all of your drivers. In particular, your graphics card and drawing tablet.
      - Add OpenToonz to your High Performance settings (details on my Discord)
      - Close as many other programs as you can.
      - Try working for a while without your virus checker running and see if that makes a difference.
      - Consider adding more memory to your computer if you can.
      - I've heard that Alt-Tabbing to other programs can cause OpenToonz to crash from time to time.

    • @DarrenTAnims

      I think you're asking how to set up a vertical video. If so:
      When you create a scene, always use the Startup Popup. Then you can set the height and width. I always change this to work in pixels. It's much simpler.
      BEFORE you start drawing, open your preferences (File > Preferences), Drawing section, tick the option: "New levels default to the current camera size". And then when you create a new level, it will have the same resolution as the camera settings you set when you created your scene.
