Thanks Darren, you are always my go to guy for OpenToonz. One thing I am having problem with is consistent crashing after upgrading to 1.7. Do u have any solution for that?
That's unfortunate to hear. I saw there was a problem with a driver dll. I hope that gets fixed soon. I think the solution was to delete a dll, but I can't remember which it was atm.
This usually happens when install over a previous version. You can either reset your rooms, from the command in the Windows menu or rename your OpenToonz Stuff folder and reinstall.
I'm guessing you'd installed OpenToonz before. If you rename your C:\ OpenToonz stuff folder and then install it, that should give you the new commands. The list of menu entries is stored in files in the stuff folder, so if you don't rename it first, you'll still have the old commands only.
I like new versions better than old. Can't wait for a new version of tahoma2d. Have you used some other softwares like Flash, Toon Boom harmony, and Moho.
I know the main developer of Tahoma2D is really busy with his other job, but has some great plans for Tahoma in the near future. Yeah, I've used Flash in the past. @@DarrenTAnims the drawing tools in flash are vectors. It won't do rasters, but it does allow to import images. One thing about OT is it won't convert from motion tween to frame by frame as well as flash.

The big problem with nightly builds is that they aren't release-approved and sometimes aren't even runnable. You can in rare instances lose whole projects doing things like that.
What do you mean by release-approved? It's very rare they're not runnable, but if they are, then soon after you can download a version that is. And I always recommend not upgrading ANY software while in the middle of a project. That's asking for trouble.
@@DarrenTAnims I mean "nightly" is software development code for "how our project currently is this very second", rather than "a feature-complete version of our project for end consumers". It's perfectly possible to break something down completely, and still have it qualify as a nightly build because it compiled. That's why, on rare occasions, something might break with file system access or something like that, and you could end up with a damaged project (as an example). Sometimes it's OK to use nightly, but respectfully you really shouldn't depend on it. It hasn't been through QA yet!
@@micmacha There is no QA with OpenToonz. The nightly is exactly what will be the next version. But yes, you're right, you should be careful, which is why it's best to wait between projects. I've never known OpenToonz cause an issue with a project, to lose anything though. But if course, that is potentially possible. Backup, backup, backup!
Some of these are in Tahoma. In fact, some were shared directly from Tahoma. My advice is, if Tahoma is working for you, stick with it. No need to change unless there's a specific feature that you need.
They're both pretty similar. I love the extra stop motion features and the perspective grids in Tahoma. And I like that Tahoma isn't installed. You just download, unzip and move the zip folder somewhere useful. And because of this, you can use both programs intermittently.
If it doesn't show the import dialog, then OpenToonz doesn't recognise the file type. Check that you have 3 executables in the ffmpeg folder that you're referencing. If so then you need a different version of ffmpeg.

Or is there any chance that if you move too many folders out of place then the program has problems? because I think I moved the profiles folder somewhere else too
If you moved any of the settings files, then yes, that could cause an issue. Before upgrading, I always recommend renaming the stuff folder, which contains your settings. And I keep my projects in my documents folder, so that they're stored outside of that folder. So it might be best to try again - rename the stuff folder, then install 1.7.1, preferably the nightly build.
That's strange. Do you mean that column is no longer shown in the timeline or that it's shown in read and doesn't play or something else? @@DarrenTAnims well ty thr information, i will
is this options are available in tahoma 2d? bcuz i'm using tahoma 2d so should i shift to opentoonz?
Some of these new features were actually taken from Tahoma (with permission). I wouldn't shift unless there's a specific feature in OpenToonz that you're after. They're almost the same program anyway.
@@DarrenTAnims then which one do u prefer to use? and comfortable to use?
@@lixxer10135 I use both (I know that doesn't help you, but it's true).
To expand a little: I mostly use OpenToonz as that's what my channel is all about, but I use Tahoma for 2 main features: The perspective tools and layout grids, which are amazing! And the stop motion.
In fact, the number 8 animation in this video was made using Tahoma's stop motion features. I will be making a video about those in the future.
But overall, I'm comfortable using both.
@@DarrenTAnims ♥♥♥ thanks for making this type of contents.
where is the auto inbeetwen, please answer me
Here's a useful video that will help: th-cam.com/video/22_Ss48xRbY/w-d-xo.html
Just for fun - one of the commercials had a character turn around suddenly, revealing a bald young man with a goatee. Because of your costume changes, I thought it was you!
Bald with a goatee!... Me?
😲
@@DarrenTAnims CGI can do wonders these days!
It can indeed. Maybe I should grow a goatee...
Coloring in other layer ?
You can't colour with the bucket fill tool in a different column to the lines.
You can in Tahoma2D though.

Is there any sudden crashing issue ? In 1.7
There has been an issue with some users Logitech drivers. Deleting lvcod64.dll helped.
This 1.7 version crashes on load!! :((
This happens for a lot of people with a webcam. Check out this post: github.com/opentoonz/opentoonz/issues/4971
Opentoonz almost resembles Adobe Animate on my opinion
Yes, it's similar in lots of ways
@@DarrenTAnims at least it looks easier. Almost
May you make video for each desk
What do you mean by desk?
I mean on xsheet,fx
And i have a problem
@@shamsrza141If you're asking about making a video about each panel/window on screen, I've done this in my complete OpenToonz course (linked in the description), so won't be doing so on TH-cam. But if you watch a few of my videos, you'll see that I explain how to work with each part of the program.
@@shamsrza141 "i have a problem"
You'll have to share more details. But it might be worth joining my Discord server to get a quicker answer from me or others in the community.

Back atcha Felix ❤️
Im seriously dissapointed, how is a vertical and rotations buttons a new feature? that should be in the program since a lot, i used to animate in opentoonz 1.4 and it was a mess , why it takes like 4 years to give basic features, i just hope it far low at bug crashing
At least they're here now. Let's look at the positives. And having a button isn't essential, but it's certainly nice to have.
My open toonz say v2 5.1
The latest release is version 1.7.1.
@@DarrenTAnims so that's the new release and I have the old one? 🤔 I don't understand the numbers
2.5.1 isn't a release number.
I assume you may have an old one.
It's always worth updating from time to time, when you're inbetween projects. Also, when you do update, choose the nightly build. It has more big fixes and features in it.
@@DarrenTAnims understood.
