    I like your style. I love liver mush. Im from the south, I've ate neses liver pudding for years. I love it. I've never tried it with egs before, but will definitely try ot soon.
    I like to fried it up real crisp, put it on bread with mustard & raw onions, & drink a cup of coffee with.
    Talking about delicious, its the best thing I've ever ate before. 😋

    Holy Yummo! I lived in Winston-Salem, NC for a few years and as a transplanted yankee who loves chicken liver and liver in general - this stuff was AMAZING! oF COURSE, YOU HAVE TO LIKE LIVER TO BEGIN WITH, but Neece's sausage products were always delivered fresh to store in those terrific square packages. You don't get that up North. Great video! Mouth watering - making some home-made liver mush today! You can't say you "don't like it" until you have tried it!

    Hey Steve.
    This is my 1st time viewing your TH-cam channel and I know I will keep watching. I live in Columbia, SC & I agree with you. I don't know what the ingredients are in liver pudding. But, One bit and you're hook. I do like Neese's brand of pudding . But, I usually buy Carter's pudding. The 1x I tried Neese, it was introduced to me by ex-boyfriend. Needless, to say the ex boyfriend is gone but the living pudding remain. I prefer just eating the liver pudding by itself, on a sandwich or especially with HOT grits.
    Thanks for the recipe.

    Yes Sir I have heard of LIVERMUSH!!!!!!! I'M 81 YEARS OLD and I can remember vividly how my daddy talked about livermush and how much he loved it. I really can't remember if I've had the pleasure of having livermush, but I'd love to try it before I leave this planet. Thank you Steve. I was born in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains so there's many things in Western North Carolina that the people in Gilmer County, Georgia are well acquainted with.

    It's that time of the year again and I was thinking if anyone else loved Liver Pudding. I'm from Cental Pennsylvania. The Dutch around the valley here just call it Pudding Meat. It is the meat you have from the liver and all the meat you get from the head of the pig. They make souse from the snout and head meat too. Anyway if you add corn meal to that pudding meat then your making scrapple. Some people call that Liver Scrapple. We add some fat to the meat and put it in the pan to fry up loose. After it is fried then we put it over toast or pancakes and put syrup over it. Some people will top it all with a couple of fried eggs. It's all good.

    Born and raised in South Carolina and the first thing I'm buying when we move back home to Civilization, The Real South, and South Carolina is going to be at least four blocks of Neese's Livermush/Pudding followed by about three pounds of boiled peanuts.....Yankee scrapple, a pale shadow of livermush, seems to consist mainly of sawdust, dirt, and a little sprinklin' of salt and black pepper....But it damn sure ain't livermush.....When I was growing up livermush was second only to Neese's sausage, which also came in blocks, when it came to a breakfast meat and livermush was our go to meat for cold sandwiches (made with white loaf bread, yellow mustard, a thick slice of sweet onion, and a thick slice of livermush straight off the block).

    • @SteveSherron
      @SteveSherron  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hurry back, the south needs you. Speaking of boiled peanuts. I was in Cherokee last week and bought a giant cup of them from a guy who had this huge wok looking thing with a fire under it and the peanuts were awesome.

    • @fdmackey3666
      @fdmackey3666 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh Momma....I love me some boiled peanuts.....Something yankees don't have a clue about. Of course they don't know squat about deviled crabs either for that mater.... Lord willing, we'll be hitting the road in search of the future Macko del Rancho (South) Estate, Compound, Free Fire Zone, and Fortress of Doom on or about September 5th and back home where we belong by the end of September or very early October.....I can't stand the thought of missing yet another huntin' season....Or livin' in the People's Republic of Maryland and the Great Wilderness and Wasteland of the North for much longer....If that tells you anything....

    I just Googled liver pudding after our local packing house stopped making it. I've been eating it all my life but not the way you made it. We put it in a pan with a little bit of water and make a gravy. Place a piece of bread on a plate and ladle the gravy over top. Then the optional part, ketchup. OMG, it's the best ever! I am going to look for Neese's and buy a ton of it. I am going to try it your way too. I never knew there was any other way to eat it.

    I'm so used to Lee's liver pudding but they don't sell it out side of SC. I have a chance to order neese....but I'm on the fence about it. Compared to the lovely sausage casings of Lee not to mention the spices and flavor. Does neese have cornmeal in their liver pudding? I read that somewhere I hate cornmeal

    Well, i just left Food Lion, and got a brick of Neese's Liver Pudding.
    Gonna give it a shot for b'fast tomorrow or sunday morning. (my first time EVER trying it).
    Thanks for the vid and the tips(adding eggy weggies to the mix).
    I like a lot of off the wall foods, so this sounds good. ( i had a chick in Shallotte NC mention it to me, and i was curious).
    If i remember, i will followup with you on how i liked or disliked it!

      Slice it thin and put it in a skillet with no oil. Brown it and make it a little crispy. Bam! Southern cuisine. I also like it fried on a sandwich with some mustard. I know Shallotte very well. Let me know.

      well...i opened up the package, and fried up the entire loaf.
      i cooked it crispy(used butter).
      i also sauteed some onions and i had grits with butter, and eggs over easy with cheese on top
      MIGHT FINE livermush/pudding!!!!
      my first bite hit my taste buds with :::cornmeal, bacon, and sausage all rolled into one:::
      Glad i tried it, cause i effing LOVE it! hahahah!!! Thanks for the vid, and yep, i'm sold on livermush/pudding!

      Totally different from scrapple. This is a liver product made mostly from liver. Scrapple is meat based with a fair amount if flour, corn meal and buck wheat flour. Scrapple has no liver and their buy eat can it compare to the flavor of liver pudding or liver mush. JS

    • @roscoeshepard

      Scrapple is like southern souse meat it's made from the head of the hog. It is cooked with spices and put into a loaf pan to cool and then sliced. I had a old friend In PA he said scrapple was about the same as souse meat here in the south.

    • @jimjordan5630
      @jimjordan5630 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@roscoeshepard The only thing that scrapple has in common with souse meat is that the meat and other non-bone parts of the head are used. Souse meat normally doesn't contain meat from any other parts such as shanks. But the biggest difference is that souse meat contains NO flour or corn-wheat meal of any kind. To say that they are any where near similar would be akin to saying that a Southern hamburger is basically the same as northern spaghetti. But then on second thought, even that comparison would be closer than scrapple being like souse meat.

      +nicaboo36 hi this is totally different from souse meat. My dad use to love souse meat and I have an aunt who can make it just like the butcher market. I do not like souse meat, but I am particular with the liver pudding (certain brands).

    • @nicaboo36
      @nicaboo36 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      lovehope3753 Hi there. I should've gone on to say that it reminds me of souse meat as far as the looks of the packaging goes...LoL. I've never actually tasted liver pudding nor have I ever seen it outside of this video. I had never even heard of it until a very close friend of mine, that lives in Monroe, NC, told me about it. He seems to love it! So I decided to look it up to at least "see" what it looks like for myself. I'm from AL, and as country as people THINK that AL is, liver pudding is not mentioned, sold or eaten there. But we DO eat souse meat in AL! 😋 So tell me..... Is liver pudding flavorful?
