- There are some dishes that you love or hate and Black Pudding is definitely one of them. The black pudding is particularly popular in the north of England and Scotland, but is eaten throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. Sliced and fried, blood sausage is part of a typical English breakfast. We found out exactly how it is made and what the British like about it in Bury, north of Manchester, one of the strongholds of black pudding.

Would you give Black Pudding a try? ✅❌
Why not? Blood cakes are also pretty common in Asia. It's about the same, just the hardening of the fresh blood is different. Perhaps DW Food might wanna showcase this food one day?
look at those teeth,nope
I won't mind to give it a one life try
Of course
Never 😒
In the southwest, Navajos call it blood sausage: sheep blood, diced sheep fats, potatoes, chile peppers, fats, cornmeal, salt. We pour it into a clean sheep intestines and boil. When it’s done, we slice them like a steak put in grilled tortilla and topped with some slice grilled New Mexico Hatch’s green Chile peppers…and eat like a taco!
I am from Sweden and we Swedes eat black pudding with bacon as part of our tradition. Its yummy!
I assume you don’t read the Bible then
I am from Lancashire. I think black pudding is absolutely delicious. A Full English breakfast without black pudding or fried bread is just not a Full English. Try it, you might like it.
I’m from Chicago and love it! Both black and white pudding
@@SirBrosif286 what is white pudding???
I live in Australia and was practically raised on black pudding. 😋😋🤤🤤

Must have in full England breakfast, I like it.
Here in Denmark it's a Christmas tradition, eaten with thick applesauce, cinnamon and sugar.
Love it!😊
You better not be a Christian saying that
@@Dub4Yah Many Christians eat it.
Argentine morcilla blood sausage is freaking delicious
There’s a local Scottish shop in my city that sells black pudding, for context I’m American. I think it’s actually pretty good if you like sausage.
Historically it's because most people had to make thing's count throughout the winter, so my ancestors would use practically all of the animal(s) they'd raise throughout the year to keep them fed whilst crops didn't grow.
Also it's lovely, seriously it is so is white pudding same thing but replace blood with oats, both are delicious 😊
Must have with a full-British breakfast. Very subtle irony flavour adding some variety to the other proteins.
Full-English 🏴
Delicious.
Two fried slices of black pudding on top of fried bread, plenty of brown sauce, fried egg on top. Mug of best quality tea. Yum. Also a light and satisfyingly nutritious breakfast
Had it in Ireland years ago. Live in the US. I have an inport store that i get it from every so often because after trying it in ireland it is amazing. Love the stuff
I’m Canadian and I love black pudding. It’s awesome dipped in egg.
I’ve had Blutwurst in Munich and Boudin Noir in France as well as Black Pudding and I love them all. Is it our use of pudding that is the issue?
Good German style is made in Queensland - delicious.
In east germany we call a dish: death grandmother. Black pudding in the pan with onions and sourkraut.🤤🤤👍🇩🇪
Sounds fantastic. I'd like to try that.
@@austin2842yeah lets do it 😮
It actually looks pretty darn good to me. Would definitely give it a taste.
It's not 'pudding' as in a sweet dish you might eat as dessert. It's co-opted from the French 'boudin'.
Due to the Norman invasion in 1066 there are an exceptional number of French loan words in the English language.
Black pudding is great. Savoury and often herb flavoured. Best fried.
Food from heaven.
I'm on team YUMMY! Damn right! I've been eating this since I was a kid in Minnesota, yeah, that's right, Minnesota!
Black pudding is amazing 🙌🏼
black pudding is amazing and I eat it every time I travel to the UK, but the best blood sausages are to be had in croatia
make sure to try it!
My eastern European grandparents introduced me to kishka (?) It was not bad when warm with beer to wash it down.
The finest black pudding is made in Stornoway in Scotland , try it with some Scottish scallops .
And pea and mint puree 😋
It is sooo good dipped in a fried egg yolk. Love it but its hard to get here in canada.
Best black pudding by far comes from the Outer Hebrides.
Stornoway black pudding is THE best without doubt and I have tried quite a few.
I've had Morcilla (Spanish Blood Sausage)
Black pudding is wonderful and a must at any time, but essentially at breakfast.
I like it….in America it’s super rare, but I respect it. It goes really well in a English breakfast
Love it
In Ireland Black Pudding was really nice . Like a bacon type treat for me. And then there was a whiter version ?
Some type of sausage I guess
Anyway everything tastes good when you’re on vacation but that was my tradition every breakfast to go FULL
Love black pudding!
Blood sausage in all its forms, bodin nor, morcella, blood kiska, blutwurst, black pudding...Delicious
I like it just can't get where I live
Many tourist places, especially in London, offer what they call the full English breakfast but don't include black pudding realizing that most foreigners won't know any better. For shame .
I like a bit of Blood 🩸 Fried in Black Pudding 🖤 😋
DW is a German international broadcaster. It's a bit strange that as a broadcaster of THE sausage nation in the world, who has - for my feeling - at least 250 types of blood sausage, such delicacies like "Tote Oma" (Dead Grandma) or Zungenblutwurst (tongue black pudding) included, DW does a show about British black pudding. Half the world eats black pudding. For my taste, the Koreans have the best, followed by us.
In The Netherlands we call this "bloedworst", "blood sausage", and yes, it's delicious. You can eat it as it comes, only cooked, but I like to bake it very slowly until it's all nice and crispy on the outside. I prefer it neutral, with a good amount of fat, but not too sweet. Some people find the idea of blood pudding disgusting, and will never even try it. No problem though, they are missing out, and leave more for me 🙃
Looks like Korean blood sausage which is super yummy...I wonder if they taste similar
hadsame in sweden with lingonberry many times is common there
London born and I love black pudding
"Its all about the black pudding for me, love this stuff! Blood and eggs! If I hadn't written already written a memoir I would have called it that!"
- Anthony Bourdain RIP
😂 they were the days ❤
I worked there ten years
In Ukraine we also make those blood sausages, but with buckwheat instead of barley, it’s delicious when it’s freshly baked , would be a nice option for dinner but we never have it for breakfast, it’s a bit too much
As a British I need to say it’s good
It's soondae in korean term ❤
i wonder how often the giant mixing bowls get cleaned . all looked a bit grotty to me
Interesting, idk if I’d like it or not ?😊
maybe they should try filipino "dinuguan", its a pork with pig blood stew.
My favorite part of breakfast in the British Isles is black pudding, and I’m a yank.
Como le van a decir a la morcilla black pudding?
It's superb. Don't knock it until you try it :)
Food of the Gods...👏🙌🤲
C'Mon England 🏴🇬🇧
team yummy mmm!
Black pudding
The only way I would try black pudding is if someone made it for me and lied to me saying it was regular sausage
I have never eaten black pudding, but I didn't see anything in the ingredients that would put me off. If anything it would be the texture that might make me dislike it.
Its not thay dissimilar to a normal sausage
Team YUMMY! ❤
Team yummy . . . even tasty with fresh blood
I like blood pudding but him describing it as a "brownish chocolatey mix" almost made me retch.
Rishy in the background 😂😂😂
I make gluten free black pudding as I have coeliac disease and the commercial gluten free stuff looks, feels and probably tastes like window putty.
Hello, this is the TVN 7 billion production team. I'm leaving a comment to request the use of the video you uploaded in the 89th "World Unique Dessert" theme. I would appreciate it if you could leave a reply to see if it's possible. Can I leave it as a source mark (name of the channel_youtube channel) and use it?
Nobody from Scotland goes to Bury for black pudding. 😂
How anyone could eat that first thing in the morning remains a mystery to me…
I'd give it a try.
Usually with a knife and fork. 🍴
Its very high in protein and so great for people who work physical, active jobs to give them the energy to keep going until lunchtime. So Builders, warehouse staff, active security, law enforcement, etc...
When i was on vacation in Scotland, i gave it a try. I thought that it must be good if so many people eat it. I was wrong... 🤢
Grow up soft lad
@@sneer0101 Excuse me for having eyes and tastebuds.
Did you fry it before eating. Some people make the mistake of not cooking it first
@@jarrodtroy695 I ordered it in a small hotel we were staying in in Glasgow.
It's barbarian food! The Northern Europeans have ghastly taste buds!
So, you said the monks brought it over. Do you think Vikings had a hand in its creation?
Yeah I don't like meal from blood, any kind of that bcs my mom said it's not healthy
You know tribes in africa live of drinking blood directly from live animals and also mix it with milk.
There is only one choice and it is full on Lancashire Black Pudding... From here if you have some values from the normals then, Please present!
Team ill never find out.
Is it the opinion of the sausage, or the actual taste that puts people off?
What do you mean by the sausage's opinion? ;)
To prepare it with dried blood turns it into a highly processed, industrialized food. - You call this traditional?
Honestly I just prefer Morcillas, so much better as blood sausages go.
i'm on team Yucky ... you can have or trade for my Black Pudding.
Beautiful Black Pudding. As a Yorshireman its 2nd only to an actual Yorkshire pudding .
Terrible company. Treat staff like dirt! £1 scratch card for Christmas bonus while management driving around in porches etc.
Have you been work there??
No. But i know people who have.
Black pudding is similar to the pig blood curds in China.
when i was a kid in the 60's in New Zealand my mom would give us black pudding sandwiches for school lunches, her mother was from Manchester and emigrated out here so assume is why we had black pudding BUT....she never fried the black pudding and by lunch time on a hot day they were just blood sandwiches....totally disgusting and unedible.
Your mother obviously loved you, I can totally relate 🩷
😊We in Ukraine 🇺🇦 love eating it too
I am on only haram team😂❤no halal for me🤮
I'm English but live in New Zealand. Cant get decent black or white pudding here. It's rubbish.
To all Christians, God’s Word says in the New Testament “do not eat blood.”
Ok?
Rabbi said its kosher
Sounds like you got the devil's church by mistake!
Plenty of iron.
Blood products for food is just down right nasty.
Someone tell British people the war ended 70 years ago and they can eat normal food now
Go eat your Tex/Mex sick on a plate son.
Most countries have some form of blood sausage. So it just shows how clueless you are.
Very true
Did you miss the part that said its been eaten for centuries
E the iod
I don't think people understand that blood is a great environment for bacteria to multiplie. Even is you cook it's still pretty dangerous
I think the people who love the blood likes to eat their meats half cooked. Dang near raw inside of you ask me.... Barbaric......
huh
@@invluo3219so is ground meat. Meh. Make it fresh . It can obviously be safe.
Sounds absolutely revolting.
Yes and it tastes great 😊
processed meat. not good.
Background music is irritating
My foster parents from Newfoundland loves them
Black pudding > bacon 🥊🥊
Food with blood is haram, not to talk about swines.
Haram
Guys, the war is over. You don't have to eat like we're rationing anymore. Gross.
