    This guy learned from an OG trucker and here's how I know. His seat is down low, hes always looking at the mirrors, his gear changes are smooth and at the perfect rpm. His Jake brakes are not on between shifts and he downshifts full gears. Best of all hes driving a w900 with a kitty in it doesnt get any better than that 🙏

      So I just got my CDL, I've seen all the memes about the super truckers sitting with their seat low to the ground. But what's the purpose in it? I've never really thought about it having any utility. My instructor was and is a 33 year veteran and still drives his own Pete before he'd come into class. But he didn't have time to teach us very much. How only had the time to teach us to drive and shift. So there's a lot of old timer tricks that I don't know. But I want to know

      @@brandonashley5872There's really no reason for it other than looking cool. To me it's dumb because you'll feel every bump in the road, can barely see anything in front of your hood or next to your steer tires. I know 2 "super truckers" that drive with their seat on the floor that have merged into another vehicle that they didn't see was next to their front bumper because their ability to see was compromised trying to look cool. Both got fired from their jobs and had to explain on their job applications why they have an avoidable DOT accident on their record.

    as a young kid who has been growing up around truckers like my Dad seeing the Toggle Switches, hearing the turbo, seeing the gear shift and most of all seeing someone young driving makes me more motivated then ever to be a trucker and be an owner op. My Dad loves toggle switches he hates the Rocker Switches and now he’s off the highway and drives a day cab and pulls flatbeds brings back memories of going with him in the mountains sitting in the bunk watching him shift, flick gears and feeling the joy he had being an owner op

    I drive a 2000 Kenny W900L too. It’s got the c15 acert twin turbo. Making 750+hp. It’s a built engine. Massive turbos. Loud ass rig. 7 inch straight pipes on it too. The truck used to be a heavy haul truck. It’s our most powerful too. Thing stock made 600hp. Love the caterpillars. Powerful fantastic engines sound amazing. It pulled a really large lowboy trailer. It was the biggest heavy haul truck in the fleet. I work at a towing company by the way, and we have 4 heavy haul rigs. 2 light duty’s, and 2 heavy duty heavy hauls. So we took the truck and put an 2017 Miller industries 75 ton rotator on it. We made it into our biggest rotator tow truck. The truck that now pulls the big lowboy is a 05 Kenworth W900 with the same motor. It’s stock. It’s a beast of an engine.

    I started driving trucks when I was 19 up here in Canada and most of the trucks I drove were W9's and T8's.
    I drove for 20 years and I have to say that although trucking didn't make me rich, it sure was a blast driving them!! In life you want to do what your heart is set on and even though my dad discouraged me from driving, I still persued it and have no regrets.
    Watching you drive reminded of me when I was your age. I can see that you really love trucks and driving them.

      I'm interested how powerful is the cat c15 on the truck in the video.
      Of course, nowadays produced cat c15 engines have 435-615 power range as you said, but the cat engines which had been made more than 20 years ago, weren't so powerful as nowadays ones.

    After 42 years of driving, this is still music to my ears. Love your Jakes, and I've seen much worse shifting. We have a whole new generation out there who would be lost if not for the automated manuals (automatics). I won't drive them. But it's great for girls though.

I also ran the seat with no air thats just how you do it in a big ass long nose Pete... That rig is music to my ears! Nice how he ran through the gears with the hi/low split on the side.... Keep on truckin bro

    For those that don't understand, most drivers do it by feel and sound. I never really watched the tach, but one day I did, and noticed on a nine speed, there is a five hundred rpm difference between each gear. So, if you're shifting up, and twisting nineteen hundred rpm, you're gonna fall in the next highest gear at around fourteen hundred. Same thing down shifting.

      You do know that on a normal transmission you are actually wearing out the synchronisers and the cone clutches by 'floating' gears . I know you're gonna be like I put 200,000 miles on my truck and its still ok but that is not the point.

    • @sam32785

      There are no synchronizers or cone clutches in these trans. Floating gears is the norm in trucking.

    • @ChaotiX1
      @ChaotiX1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not? I'm going into the industry blind man, gimme some pointers before I dig myself in a hole.

    • @n8bolton
      @n8bolton  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The biggest thing I could stress is that if you are in any sort of situation, other than being single and free of dependents, the industry will almost certainly tear you up and down. Unless, you're lucky and can find one of the elusive and highly desirable gigs that runs you on a reasonable schedule and has you in your own home and bed every night, you're going to spend more time than you would like to in that truck. Trust me. Trucks are one of my greatest passions and it even burned me out after only a couple years.
      To be completely honest, you can make a fair living driving a truck. As I've previously mentioned, that usually comes at a very high personal cost. You probably won't go broke. However, you will likely neither have much of a life outside of work. It's a trade off. If you take more personal time and a relaxed schedule, you stand to usually make less money. If you run like a scalded ape and just don't quit, you can put a few more dollars in the bank.
      In my younger ignorance, I used to scoff at all the old veterans who pleaded with us inexperienced and naive fellas not to get into a truck and to pursue other ventures. It took me a couple of years and some experimentation to understand why they provided such advisory. I've always respected truckers. After putting myself into trucks, I now know why I should respect them; anybody who is willing to sacrifice so much of their own time and effort to reap a less-than-fair compensation is more selfless and honorable than I ever will be. Thank God, some guys will do it. Because, I sure won't.
      ...Have I scared you out of it, yet? Lol. I'll say this. If you have the desire to drive a truck, do it. There are few things that you can do in this life that are as satisfying and exciting, in my opinion. Do I think it's a wise career path? Not anymore, no. Do I think everybody should at least experience a few hours in a truck? I sure do. Don't let me talk you out of a truck. Make your own decisions and form you own opinions about what you expect in a job or career. I'm just handing over my couple of cents.

    • @ChaotiX1
      @ChaotiX1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      n8bolton Dude you had me scared lol. I dont even have a life NOW. I no longer have a girlfriend, and I live at my parents with zero responsibility other than my clothes, phone bill and credit cards. I sit on my computer all day and when im not at it, i'm at the theatre seeing a new movie. There is really nothing esle I do, other than my IT career I just lost. Doesnt matter anyhow, it was a demanding and killing job.

    Fuuuuuck. I miss that sooo much. I drive a commercial vehicle for a living too....but the companies trucks are automatics....granted, now that I'm used to the automatic, it's real nice. Push button automatic. Literally, select the "D" button, push it and go.

      The straight trucks that this outfit had were equipped with C-12 Cats and Allison autos. They're definitely simple to operate. Really fast trucks, too! The jakes also sounded pretty awesome, rolling down through the gears.
