This album is part of "Take Care, Caretaker" project: • Take Care, Caretaker I...
Everywhere at the end of time (Stages 1-6) was a series exploring dementia, its advancement and its totality. In other words, it explores a life of a person slowly turning into hell before reaching total emptiness and apparent death.
However, it doesn't specify what this person was before the disease started.
What if their sins were not worth Hell, but their repentance and even terrible suffering caused by disease were not enough to go to Heaven yet?
Stage 7 (Purgatory) explores the hypothetical quasi-religious continuation of this person's existence, a temporary punishment "in which the souls of those who die in a state of grace are made ready for Heaven".
Unlike eternal Heaven or Hell, Purgatory is a temporary state, which precedes entering Heaven, reuniting with friends and eternal peace after The End of Time.

As Purgatory goes before Stage 7 (Heaven), it may be considered Stage 6.5 if we allow fractional stages. However, I think it looks unfitting.
But the main reason for me to call it Stage 7 is openness to interpretation and consistency. That makes all of my post-EATEOT continuations being Stage 7 and lets to think about them as of the possible real life events, not restraining them to go one after the other.

I like how unlike Heaven and Hell, this one doesn't give you a feeling of happiness or utter hopelessness and fear, but rather just emptiness. It sounds like a giant echo, which is a really good interpretation of Purgatory. People remain in purgatory for LONG amounts of time, so it would make sense for it to sound like an empty wasteland. Good job, it's pretty good!
You awake, at the foot of a large mountain. The gates swing open with a thick gray fog inside.
You smile, and enter.
Inside is not Hell.
Inside is not Heaven.
It's purgatory.
There's no one else around you.
Only the fog.
You expected a trial. Maybe some fruit hanging that you'd never catch. A purification process.
But alas, all this place is is a gray void.
You feel yourself laugh.
How did you escape your fate with Lucifer?
Well, you weren't a traitor in the first place.
Who was yelling and defaming your name all that time in Fraud?
It was your own mind, doubting itself, hating you due to Fraud's nature.
Why were you in Hell?
The experience was to illustrate what you had just dodged due to your good heart.
Are... are you safe?
Yes. But you *did* sin, just not as bad as the ones in Hell.
You're going to have to live in the void to a length of ten times that of the length of time you sinned.
That's going to be a century or more, but afterwards you'll enter the greatest place in existence.
Heaven.
For now all you have to do is wait.
And what better way to do so then...
Just...
Rest.
This sleep is gonna last a long time.
Mmmmmm...

This part is really good! I read through the part about Hell then it said to check the Purgatory version so I did and found the next part. The next part is probably going to be under the Heaven version so I'll look for your comment there.

Where am I? Did I just die? Where are the nurses?
...Where’s *anyone*?
A moment ago I was laying in a hospital bed, not knowing anything besides what was happening right in front of me. And even what was in front of me was basically nothing but a bunch of shapes and colors. I couldn’t open my mouth to ask what was going on, nor could I communicate how much pain I was in at the moment.
And then I closed my eyes and suddenly...I was up and out of bed. Well, being able to walk is certainly an improvement. I wasn’t in pain anymore, but didn’t exactly feel good either...just kind of numb? I guess? I looked down at what I was wearing: a hospital gown. I pulled a loose strand of hair from my head. Smokey grey. Clearly I was an older person, but that’s the extent of what I knew about myself. I knew I must have had a past, a personality, a life behind me...but the details weren’t coming to me. It’s like I was a canvas with artwork drawn on it, but that the art was covered in a layer of thick white paint.
All that’s in front of me is a desolate field. No signs of life, no gophers digging holes, nothing. If I really am dead, I can tell that this isn’t Hell...but it sure isn’t Heaven either.
I know nothing about my past, all I know is what’s happening right here in the present. Was I good? Was I bad? Was I just the guy with the gun?
Maybe if I just look around, I’ll find the answers I need.

I don’t know what it could be, but humming it is providing me with a bit of comfort.

And to get the Heaven?.. end you need to spend your time in purgatory

Why the stage 7 purgatory lasts the half as long as original caretaker álbum?
I don't know if it was intentional or not (but I hope it is !) but people are supposed to spend a long time in the Purgatory. In Dante's Inferno, people stuck in the Purgatory must spend 30 years there for every year they had spent in sin on Earth - moreover, they must travel throught all the sin's circles. One can spend up to 1600 years and more in the Purgatory. It seems fitting that this album is the longest of the three and half Eatot

I’m alone. But am I suffering as much as I did? I can’t tell.
You recall a time when you were much younger, reading about the mythologies of various cultures across history. In the time of Ancient Greece, it was rumoured that the souls of the ordinary people, neither the champions nor the evil, would be sent to a realm where they would live out their days in relative happiness, being able to forget their suffering and clear their identity by drinking in the waters of the Lethe and walk joyfully through fields of asphodels. This... is not that place. An endless plain with the occasional hardy shrub under a perpetual grey sky meets your view. You can't explain why, but you have a compulsion to begin walking. Where you will end up, you do not know. But still, the faintest hope that any of your actions in this lonely world matter keeps you from giving in to a new despair.
Even if it takes a year, a decade, or even a century, you vow that you will find someone else. There must be other people here. *_There must._*

I would love to see actual stories of popular characters from throughout all the history of Movies, TV and Video Games have their journey through their final destination, weather it’s Purgatory, Heaven or Hell.
It would make a great source of media/entertainment to witness what happens to every popular character that we ever witnessed or played as when they find themselves in the afterlife and what will become of their souls.
For example, I can just imagine how insane it may be to see the afterlife of characters like The Joker, Kefka, Scarecrow, Freddy Kruger, John Marston, Arthur Morgan, Tony Soprano, Walter White, Tony Montana, Maniac, The Governor, Simon Belmont, Trevor Belmont, Dexter Morgan, Dirty Harry Callahan, Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, M. Bison, Akuma, Albert Wesker, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and so many many many more.
I can probably answer some: Walter White could be in the 8th circle for making all his money illegally, but his biggest sin is pride, so he’s there. Tony Soprano’s half-baked Catholic lifestyle probably wouldn’t save him from hell, he’d probably be in wrath, you could argue fraud like Walt for sure, but wrath is his biggest sin. the Joker could go with the murderers but he’s so insane that he’d probably need a personal hell that looks a lot like his fear we see in Arkham Knight. High honor Arthur and John will probably go to limbo as they weren’t too bad, medium honor they’ll probably be in the thief pit, low honor the murderer pit. Micah and General Shepard replace Cassius and Brutus in Satan’s mouth, Dutch betrayed you after he lost his mind, so he’s not bad enough to be in the devil’s mouth, there’s a whole lot you could cover.
@@Crackedcripple- I really liked your assessment of the characters’ and their versions of EATEOT, just imagine if someone created a comic depicting each character and their journey through the afterlife.
It could be a comic, or TV show better because there is more freedom to tell a grander story and won’t be rushed if it was made as a movie, it would be chaos to get just one character’s afterlife journey shown in a major motion picture.
Comic and TV show would be the perfect way to go if they wanted to tell a great dramatic psychological story featuring many popular mainstream characters.
Worst Ending: The Droning Goes Ever On And On.

This is basically me on a Tuesday evening
after you died, your in a area that look like it breaks all laws of laws of physics and it look like it was aftermath a world that has ended. It seems you died, but you still feel like haven't. You have those memories back but have this dread. It feels like you can be ether heaven or hell. you don't know. You remember all the regrets and questionable things you did. you pray and stand there waiting.... waiting...waiting for something to happen. there times you go "maybe this is hell?" "maybe this heaven and we got all wrong?"

To me this reminded me of people waiting for judge,ent by God whether they go to hell or heaven but until then they are in a world of emptiness with no feeling whatsoever no sadness but no happiness either you just wait til it is your turn to get judged
This is the usual ambient work i would actually listen to for my own enjoyment. And in reality, it actually captures some of the Stage 6 music well enough. The empty droning and ambient is here, it feels like a natural continuation even tho Stage 6 had a grand finale. Now, i don't feel any disturbing elements passed down unlike Hell. It's just a soothing, calm experience. Almost being in a maximum neutral territory while the white nose washes away all your sins.

Stage 7 (this one) I assume, is, apart from heaven and hell. One of a special stage. This stage states and clearly menus the feeling of an empty bliss. (No not that one you are thinking) where you are lost hoping for people to pray for you to go to hell, or heaven. Or, maybe no one will remember you. You might stay in this bland empty bliss where the feel here seems.....

For some reason, this one makes me feel even more suicidal than the Hell one.

Everyone who died in your life before you is here. You can't remember their names at first, but their faces are clear as day and you know in your heart they're your friends and family. You will spend a brief time here to repent for the few bad things you did, and to realize you did some nice things for people as well. Once you repent for your sins, and once you accept your niceties, you can move on.

you could enter here only if your sins weren't that terrible like other people did in hell, everyone can sin everyone did those sins but they were not so much terrible if you lived being (for example) greedy and other stuff in hecc you would be there but here you wont be tortured nor you will be scared its cold so sleep and is going to be okay you sinned but its not terrible so this will be your temporary home for the next 50 years and you will get to heaven
As someone who is trying to emulate Solomon or Beyond Birthday in hopes of rebuilding loving communities, I will hold myself in purgatory until or perhaps after my death that I sometimes crave.

I know that many people consider "TC,IADOT" to be a Purgatory/Afterlife for EATEOT, but I myself prefer to think that it fits better between Stages 5 and 6

Originally it was about an hour and 20 or 30 minutes in length (I don't remember exactly).
