Finally got episode 3 out here. You'll notice a few things are different. The title no longer includes the episode number, since that just looks cleaner. But more importantly I've removed the number based rating system for each category. I found the ratings to be pointless, I mostly just put them in for fun in the first two episodes, but they didn't really help anything. Anyways, let me know what you guys think. I read all the comments so fire away.

Ye, even I enjoyed firing my light machine gun at an unarmed and innocent crowd of people at the airport with a bunch of russian guys !.... Oh...... wrong game.
You´re so clueless,it´s not even funny. Max Payne, just like Desperado and The Matrix and John Wick all copied the Hong Kong movies, directed by John Woo.
I especially love how Max reloads revolvers with single bullets instead of having infinte stupid speedloaders which is how most games lazy out with. Its just so great how he speed loads them while in cover. I would love to see Rockstar remake first two Max Payne games with Max Payne 3's mechanics and graphics. Its really underappreciated and got lots of unfair hate because people didnt like the setting change, and overreacted over something that happens only in late game with Max shaving his head and donning that hawaiian shirt in attempt(bad one that he realised himself anyway xd) to blend in. And soundtrack by health.....its just amazing especially Stadium.
Everybody loves the story of the last of us but nobody ever talks about how great the gunplay is, I’d love to see you do a gunplay video on that masterpiece.
Your videos continue to be some of the most impressive on TH-cam in terms of in-depth analysis of video games. So many things you point out that I never explicitly noticed playing these games, but when looking back all add to the overall quality (or lack thereof, in some cases) of the gunplay in each game you've analysed so far. Honestly wish you had a Patreon or something, I'd love to donate to the creating of these videos. So many games I'd love your insight on - Escape from Tarkov being the highest priority for me personally.
Great video. MP3 has still today the best gameplay mechanics for a TPS action game. It's so underrated imo, it's the real John Wick Simulator. The gunplay is amazing and so satisfying. I don't see any competitor 7 years later, maybe Uncharted 4 ?
Uncharted 4 is also the first thing that came to my mind. That game excels at every design aspect mentioned in the video. There are no slow mo shootouts, but instead gunplay is accompanied by platforming mechanics like jumping on enemies or shooting/ air takedowns while slinging with the rope. Also very satisfying melee combat. Enemies react to bullets very convincingly as well. There is even a 50 minute GDC video on youtube about how Naughty Dog developed UC4's physics-animation systems.
I like the way you analyse things quickly, objectively and coherently, it's one of the things that makes me watch every single video you and Raycevick put out, plus, you have a good voice for this kind of stuff. I liked Max Payne 3 a lot, the game felt very realistic, but when I first played it the first thing I noticed is that Max didn't feel the same, he still seemed like a sarcastic asshole but I missed the comics, Max also seemed more like your grumpy middle-aged man, he swore a lot, it didn't sound like the old Max who would describe things like an author writing a book, but then again, Max is a grumpy middle-aged man. Anyway, good review, and the title does include the episode number.
I usually avoid attachments like the scope for weapons in Max Payne 3 myself, but one way to avoid attachments instead of ditching the entire weapon is pressing B, the mapped control for turning attachments on/off. This game is really good, but 3 controls aren't established in the tutorial, which is turning attachments on/off, rolling (by pressing G while moving) and switching shoulders (by pressing H while hip-firing/aiming)
This feels incredibly well done. No time is wasted and nothing is added for lenght it feels like. Had to sub, glad the recommendation for once was a good one.
This game legitimately portrays getting shot at into a grisly art form. The animations, the blood spurts, the kinesthetic accuracy of hit simulation makes for goons slumping over and falling down due to bullet injury such a morbidly enjoyable experience. GTA IV did it well too but the animators outdid themselves here.
One of the best games of all time, unfortunately is underrated asf, most of the media in that time gives awards and praise for games such far cry 3, walking dead, journey and dishonored. Gameplay, physics, graphics, storytelling, soundtrack, almost everything in MP3 is brilliant and ahead of his time, even such a brazil distopic atmosphere (speaking as a brazilian) that rockstar put in this game is so well made that blown me away
Just recently discovered your channel and your videos are top-notch! Really good pacing and editing overall. You really hit a lot of good points on why Max Payne 3 felt so good. It's still one of my favorite shooters to this day. I sincerely wish other games took note from it. The visuals may not be as impressive today, but the details, physics and overall presentation is still really great. And some fun trivia on the sounds too, at the time when people were extracting all the files from the game, it was also discovered Rockstar actually went the extra mile in footsteps as well. There are separate audio files for various floor types, as well as if the shoes are wet or dry. Considering how subtle the footstep sounds are in general, and how there's quite a limited number of times you actually have Max get wet or in wet levels in general, it's really amazing how much detail Rockstar put throughout the game.
RainWorldExecutive I know man every single title from Rockstar made it onto the backward compatible programme other than Max Payne 3.. absolutely sucks. The only hope is they remaster it for Xbox One but I just can't see that happening.
What a fun and frustrating game. It's a strange feeling when you feel a little excited and bad at the same time whenever you down the final enemy in the area. I distinctly remember clearing a room with a Supersport shottie and repeatedly firing on the last guy just to see the pellets fly out the barrel, game is wild.
This game is so underrated. I'm sad that the series ended but at least it went out with a bang! And awesome video btw, hope your channel gains a lot more traction after this :) +1 sub from me!
I love this game. My top game since it came out. This is the top tier games that I want to come back. Single player at it's finest, no lootboxex, no crafting, no open world pure blast to play. There are movies like Godfather or Dirty Harry, that you watch every few years or months, and there are games that you play every few years or months. This is one of them.
A few things I want to say: First off, the quality of your videos is amazing considering your sub count and how you’ve only been doing these kinds of videos for about a year, when many youtubers have many years of experience, I hope your channels grows. You also remind me of raycevick, which is always a good thing in my book. Second, max payne 3s gunplay is so great that it’s easy to see why every rockstar game after it mimics it in some way, even though mp3 still feels the best. (Maybe it’s because it’s a linear game?)
Great video! Max Payne 3 is my favorite game of all time. "A lot of aspects the other games ignore..." repeated many times in this video. But, the sad reality is, the other game companies don't have the same budget to make this level of detail.
(Posting this just in case anyone wants to to a replay and doesn't much care for the story.) Although it says "still loading" in the bottom when you press a button to skip one of those 5 to 15 pre-rendered cut-scenes, it's not true. Rockstar did some dick move making the .bik cut-scenes seem skippable but make them unskippable. How do I know? Because I edited the .bik files. I shortened all of them from multiple minutes, to about 10 seconds and ALL of the levels loaded perfectly. I used to have the files stored somewhere but lost them along the way. For anyone interested in doing it for themselves: They need to be an X amount of seconds long, because they do factor into the loading somehow. When you make them too short you're loaded into a half loaded level. They are (if I remember correctly) two , .bik files you should absolute not edit. The first is the Max Payne 3 "press enter to start" logo, the second are numbers from a CCTV monitor, these are lain over the screen when you're in the stadium looking through the monitors. Editing the first will prevent the game from starting properly, editing the second will stop your HUD from showing. I didn't really do a diligent estimate as to how many minutes of unskippable cut scenes I trimmed off, but based on the amount of mb's I cut off I came to about 40 minutes.
idk how many times i finished this game, it's my favorite until this day and no game managed to get on that level of efficiency. It's just perfect imo.

max payne 3 is just genius. if you had an easier time strafing around to dodge bullets and if the movement speed was as fast as in the previous games, it would have been even better
I wish that this game was able to played on the ps4. I've never played it and definitely want to.. It reminds me of games like Double Action: Boogaloo. The first max payne is on ps4 but for some reason not the others.
I honestly recommend playing this game on PC cause while it's still fun with controller it's wayyy better and fun with mouse and keyboard as you're given alot more control over Max (for the most part)
Max Payne 3 truly had some great detail as you've shown! Something I took for granted back then, but thank you for exploring it here! I may pick it back up again as I played Max Payne 1 & 2 relatively recently! I'll have to play 3 again to decide whether or not I preferred 1 or 3 though. I really enjoyed 1 and using the shotgun there was a lot of fun. I don't remember liking Max Payne 2 as much as 1 and 3, but I am not sure why that is the case. Anyway, really glad you made this as the quality and effort is all there. I am very excited for Insurgency: Sandstorm as the level of detail there is super good with the first-person animations. It's just the third-person that looks a little rough lol. I also think the sound of the weapons is extremely well-done and violent in a realistic way - not like Battlefield or Call of Duty''s sound design where they sound more boomy or like an action movie. Excited to see your take on it! EDIT: Will you be taking another look at Hunt: Showdown when it finally releases on August 27? Curious to see how your opinion differs with all of the patches it has received since your last video 10 months ago!
Honestly it needed the context movement that Stranglehold had. Sliding over counters at least would have been great. But thats just me being picky about a great game.

These are really quality videos! I like these, you remind me of Raycevick.
What a video!!! Hope you get 100s of thousands of views
Yay! Another episode of Gunplay! :D
I agree with your ending comment. Also, with all the remaster/remakes out there, this trilogy is the one that needs it the most
Nice video. This was the first game I ever got for my 360. Hoping for a remastered trilogy soon!
Great video! Though I missed the ratings for all the sections, if only because of how slick they looked.
Yeah I'm thinking I'm gunna make another video on it. Ever since that video I've been playing it consistently and I still love it.
I've been waiting for this game to get a video like this by someone for years 😭
The new COD is gonna be a must for this channel
interesting format! also your voice is surprisingly good and on point for documentary style video.
next GVMERS or Raycevick in line? I hope so!
Thank you so much for this video, I see it blowing up and convincing MS to make it backwards compatible.
Honestly it needed the context movement that Stranglehold had. Sliding over counters at least would have been great. But thats just me being picky about a great game.
Just subbed because i liked what you did here
Definitely earned your sub from me. Excellent work. I look forward to seeing your channel grow.
hah, never acknowledged the shoulder thing myself, thats awesome
