I don't listen to much Trivium, but this album makes me feel like you're fighting a dragon. Very epic-sounding
Take this album straight into a D&D campaign haha!
Check shogun, that's the sister album to this that was all japense and Greek mythology inspired, into the mouth of hell we march and the title track especially so
You're definitely not wrong on it feeling like fighting a dragon, but as the album goes on and as I look at the lyrics more I get the feeling that someone in the band was spending a LOT of time reading Lovecraft and Dirleth. This album honestly feels like I'm listening to some cosmic horror musical, especially if you peep the lyrics of A Crisis Of Revelation.
As far as Shogun is concerned, it was mainly Kirisute Gomen and Shogun that were based off Japanese mythology. Into The Mouth Of Hell and Torn Between Scylla And Charybdis were both based off of The Odyssey. Insurrection is written from Lucifer's perspective. Of Prometheus And The Crucifix is alluding to Christ and Prometheus. He Who Spawned The Furies and Like Callisto To A Star In Heaven are each tellings of different Greek myths
I feel like WTDMS was released yesterday. Can't believe how they can write such an epic and technical album in such a short time
It's fun seeing a metalcore guy react to pretty much thrashy prog metal that is Trivium's new album. Album is a banger and idk how Trivium keep topping themselves. The Alex Bent Trilogy is amazing. AOTY contender but I'm holding out for Whitechapel, BFMV, and INK.
I’m mainly holding out for INK and Imminence.
BFMV will miss by a long shot for me.
@@mattiejoseph I’ve tried to get into those two bands but I just find them so mediocre. Personally Mostly looking forward to Whitechapel, Silent Planet and Malevolence (who will be featuring Matt Heafy funnily enough)
Erra's ST is still my AOTY but this is at least top 5. Their best album since Shogun.
I loved trivium a lot, my fave band for years. The album and the last couple have been pretty meh imo sadly.
Trivium is unique, I'll give them that. This album has some Shogun vibes at times and I love it.
Trivium once again shits on 95% modern metal bands.

It’s crazy to think about how much hate they got for being “Metallica wannabees” pre Shogun, and now they’re beloved. They deserve it

It's really rare for me to listen to an album where almost every song has my mind blown. And ITCOTD achieved just that. The classic trivium dramatic atmosphere, the pumelling riffs and breakdowns, the HUGE choruses. The outro of The Phalanx almost feels like a metal Mission Impossible soundtrack, for some reason. I absolutely love this, best album they've released since Shogun and serious AOTY candidate

Some very great albums dropped this year. Imliked Architects, While She Sleeps and Gojira, but THIS beat them all

Dunno if it was by a longshot, but I think this may have finally dethroned Humanity's Last Breath as my AOTY. AMAZING album 🤘

I've been a fan of Trivium since I was like... 10? Just before Shogun was released. They've been one of my favourite bands ever since, but I haven't thoroughly enjoyed an album since Vengeance Falls (I've enjoyed a few songs off of each, but no full records)
I must say, In The Court Of The Dragon is up there with one of their best, and it flows so well. I wasn't extremely excited honestly as I'd been let down by Trivium in the past, but this is a fantastic album
How could you not enjoy TSATS and WTDMS?
@@sayok575 TSATS is arguably Trivium's worst album, and I didn't NOT enjoy WTDMS, it's just I found myself not enjoying too many songs to keep listening to the album
Although, one of my favourite Trivium songs is on WTDMS

I agree with your point about the success of this album sales wise but this album isn't written as the next evolution of Trivium. It's an album for the OGs and says "Hey, we can still write that stuff and do it way better now thanks to pushing the band forward and trying new things."
Never really dived into Trivium until Alex joined but ever since then I’ve been absolutely hooked. TSATS, WTDMS and ITCOTD are absolute perfect albums imo. Because of that I’ve also gone back and I’ve found I love their other material too, including Shogun and In Waves. So thank you Alex Bent haha

Amazing album, I finally got around to it today. They have won metal, again. Sick riffs, ripping solos, big vocal melodies and hooks, awesome drum parts, REAL bass. Probably my album of the year! 🤘🤘

I love this album. At first listen the songs kind of flowed together and not a lot stood out. But I keep listening to it and keep finding new things. Not a single song I would skip regularly.
Think this is 2nd in AOTY ranking behind Sleep Token and probably will be 3rd when Imminence drop their album. Triviums best album imo and Shadow Of The Abattoir is honestly my favorite song by them

I even explained that I probably need to give this a few more listens and will give a final decision by the end of the year if this will beat out ERRA for AOTY. Also, still think Ice Nine Kills has a shot too.
This is definitely my AOTY right now. I love ERRA but they don’t even come close to this album imo. Can’t wait to hear INK and Bullet for my Valentine too but I don’t see either of them topping this

Like I don't have the storage space to have a full complete experience, let alone the audience to watch it yet anyways. Doesn't help that I uploaded it at 2am last night too lol. AOTY for me.
Trivium is a Top 3 band for me, love em. But his album hasn't grabbed me. Its has great musicianship that should be recognized but the only songs that really grabbed me were Feast of fire, was a single, simple groovy song. Shadow of the abattoir, one of my favorites, very soulful with an amazing chorus and The phalanx, which I believe to be the best song an the album. Other than these I have some sort of bone to pick with all the other songs. For example No way back just through is a good some as well but I find the chorus a bit uninspired, I've never really been a fan of "just repeat the name of the song" chorus's.
I do heavily respect this album and I do intend on listening to it more and seeing if anything grows on me.
Crisis and sword of Damocles stand out, especially the ascendancy melodeath thrash in crisis
@@ghostofmoredishesmorebitch1507 Maybe that's another factor, because I dont really listen to anything off of ascendancy besides rain, pull harder and Gunshot. It's not that I think it's a bad album either. I do think that every album has improved over the last in Trivium's discography and they keep getting better as time goes on (yes even vengeance and SITS). I will listen to those songs again but I found that theres an amount of things on this album that I've already heard from Triv and it gets a bit boring and sometimes I feel like I'm listening to riff soup.

I liked the album a lot. The production sounded a tad off to me, but other than that it's pretty good!
They apparently had a very small budget for production compared to last years WTDMS, but i kinda like it, reminds me of ember to infernos raw sound
I've loved Trivium since In Waves, exploring the back catalogue and everything up to now. For me, this and the last album haven't done it for me. I respect their musicianship, but it lacks creativity and inspiration to me anyway. I'm glad people love it, but this doesn't feel like an album experience as much as it does a collection of riffs without much beyond that. Maybe I'm getting older and exploring new sounds, idk, but these songs seem to all blend together at a certain point and it can't get me to come back to it.
Still, love this band and wish nothing but great things for them.
