The extra strap is to protect your shoulder. He has his own line of them, I believe.

The album before this, What the Dead Men Say has some crazy basslines on it that are super audible, and songs like Amongst the Shadows and the Stones, Sickness Unto You, and The Defiant are easily some of the best stuff they've ever written.

Sooo happy you reacted to this. Amidst their large category of great songs, this became my Fav Trivium song within 24 hours of its release. Absolutely amazing. Gives me goosebumps whenever I hear it. Hope to see you react to them more!!

As much as I love Shogun, I think this album has it beat. "The Shadow Of The Abattoir", "Like A Sword Over Damocles", "Fall Into Your Hands" and the title track are absolute bangers.

Anything new that trivium puts out is superior to there older stuff simply because of Alex Bent. Travis was good and their other drummers were meh. But alex is just in an entirely different league.

@@jayblack3345 Whole heartedly agreed. I still love shogun, but their 3 albums with Alex Bent are definitely up there among the best they've put out. Hopefully they keep going that way with their 11th album whenever that comes

Both of you are insane and must not play any instruments or know literally anything about music lmao

The extra strap acts as more support for the guitar. His guitars are insanely heavy

Here are run downs on the band, the song, the band's other songs, the music video and technology:
The band's members on this song are Matt Heafy on vocals and guitar, Corey Beaulieu on guitar, Paolo Gregoletto on bass guitar, and Alex Bent on drums. Matt and Paolo are Twitch streamers and TH-camrs, and very likely to watch your videos.
The song is a new one, but really an old one which had been demoed in 2007 for the band's fourth album Shogun, which had been released in 2008, and reworked for the band's tenth album In the Court of the Dragon, which had been released in 2021. Similar songs which would pique your interests are Kirisute Gomen, Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis, He Who Spawned the Furies, and Shogun from Shogun, and Shattering the Skies Above from the God of War: Blood & Metal soundtrack, which had been released in 2010.
They're definitely a progressive metalcore band, though they go beyond it, especially in different eras. To hear them as a heavy metal band with less emphasis on core aesthetics, songs like Dying in Your Arms, Becoming the Dragon Into the Mouth of Hell We March, their cover of Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden, Built to Fall, A Grey So Dark, Strife, Silence in the Snow, and Endless Night are songs to hear. To hear them as a thrash metal band, The Storm, Detonation, Entrance of the Conflagration, Unrepentant, To The Rats, Contempt Breeds Contamination, and Insurrection are songs to hear. To hear them monumentally heavy, Pillars of Serpents, Requiem, Suffocating Sight, Dusk Dismantled, A Skyline's Severance, Drowning in Slow Motion, and Wake (The End is Nigh) are songs to hear. They don't have many ballads, but their album intro tracks, Until the World Goes Cold, and The Darkness of My Mind are close. You'll absolutely want to hear more Trivium, because they're easily one of the most brilliant modern metal bands in terms of songwriting and technicality.
This music video takes place in the band's recording space, The Hangar, and Mehrunes Dagon, the big red guy's, realm of Oblivion. The book is the Mysterium Xarxes, which Mehrunes Dagon's followers use for rituals and customs to worship him and open portals to Oblivion.
There aren't boxes on the band's vocal microphones, but rear stability arms of their microphone stands which keep their microphones from swinging upward. The pads around Matt's guitar's neck are fret wraps, which he uses to mute strings from ringing out when he accidentally touches them. As you look closely at his guitar strap, you'll notice that it's double layered. It's because he notoriously plays guitars which weigh between 8 and 12 pounds and doesn't want to have back problems from carrying them around for the eight hours a day which he tends to between streaming and performing concerts. His guitar picks are nylon Dunlop Jazz III Max Grips which are small, harshly pointed, and cross-textured to be easily manueverable, cut through mixes, and be easy to hold on to. He spends tons of time demoing guitar and vocal products to work out the most efficient ways for him to perform and to provide insights to others for what they may be able to use. He's an immensely dedicated and disciplined person.
You can't go wrong becoming more familiar with Trivium. They're the Megadeth of this century to Avenged Sevenfold's every artist at once. They'll keep you on your toes.

If you like Elder Scrolls inspired music, you should give Daedric a listen.

I do not really consider Trivium to be metalcore. More like american melodic death metal maybe or progressive possibly. The thing on the guitar is a fret wrap, it helps with things like string buzz possibly and definitely dampening extra noise. I have a fret wrap myself, it's used for the same thing as when guitarists but a bit of foam underneath behind the nut or tape over the top of the strings

I love the song, but not a fan of ESO. We need Elder Scrolls 6 to come out already.
