so happy to see this. I forced myself to learn polygon/box modelling last year. Modelled a tiger tank from scratch. since then I have been using it here and there but it still feels like writing with my left hand...so unnatural my brain just works better with curves/splines/nurbs... or just straight up sculpting.
This is really interesting, I appreciate you covering this. It looks like it could be really useful in certain kinds of architectural modelling, like for modelling complex roof surfaces for example, or any complex, irregular surface on the exterior of a building. It feels like a much more design led, engineering approach to surfaces, than say sculpting, which is more spontaneous and driven by aesthetics. I can imagine this being used by automotive designers to experiment with and refine the surface shapes of vehicles, which need to be both aerodynamic and aesthetically pleasing.
Thank you for the tutorial. I'm trying to use what you did at 7:30 with sweeps to create a transition from a square path to a circle. Can I use a straight line as the curve that the two become a cube morphing into a cylinder?
I try to apply an image texture to a mesh which is before a curve it is not working well it's showing only the average colour of image texture And also the uv editor is not working for this type of mesh Please suggest what to do in that situation
Hello, wondering if anyone knows the answer to this question about sculpting in Blender, Anyhow I've been working on a sculpt for about 2 months now, everything worked as it should but now for some reason which escapes me the sculpting tool seems to be out of whack it no longer is in sync with one side when sculpting the non-active side no longer follows or mirrors the active side, it seems to have moved down the z axis for example if I'm working on the shoulder the left side messes up the bicep, I've tried going into edit mode picking the vertices and then symmetrize, but that completely destroys the mesh, I've posted the question on Blender stacks 0 answers, anyone else run into anything similar or have an idea what I should try?, thanks
Are you just jumping between videos on TH-cam about this add-on and leaving comments like this? I got no problem with Maya, but this is just kind of...odd
You could just use the built-in Curves : Extra Objects addon, add a Surface -> NURBS Curve, Edit mode duplicate it, and press F. It's been included with Blender for quite some time now.
Do you write to these add on makers and say 'I have a 100K subscribers, can I get a free license if I make a video? I've gotten free stuff with 2000 times less subscribers.

Man, once again you have saved me SOOOO much time with this.
thank you for keeping us up to date with the latest cool addons and features! really helpful to figure out if i want to buy these addons or not

FYI I thought it wasn't working but you have to have your curves in a collection and select "Collection To Operate On".
At minute 2:29, how do you get the Preview enable button activated? In my case, the "Preview Enable"button is not available.
This should really be built in to Blender. But I'm buying it anyway! :-/

Oh it's like in old 3ds max to make patch surface??
Sir, imagine you have one tool to pick for life, what will u choose? Blender or Rhino

Hi, yes I had found the solution, thank you for your reply, happy holidays }:)@@skippythemagnificent8103
I'm getting an error that is preventing me from enabling it, error last recent call
I accidentally pressed left arrow many times in the beginning of the video... sounds like street fighter
This looks like a powerful tool, but oddly very specific. I tend to buy addons that I hardly touch haha....
oh I miss Curviloft
You know there is a way to do the same by using geometry nodes
Do you have a link to someone's addon made who made it with geometry node ?
@reekooism not really but it's a simple set up a node system in geometry nodes to create a similar function as the addon
why are curve meshes so dense? it cant be animated.
4:06 This mesh look bad. No interpolation between the profiles.
Probably just needs a smooth modifier or you can use smooth tool with the sculpt brush.
Great to hear that a feature available in Maya 1.0 is now somewhat implemented on the 30th anniversary of Blender.

you are a reptile ong
And we need another video with explaining nuance of work Add-On, because in some cases them dosent work or work uncorrect
