Logging Roads, Waterfalls, and Snow: Honda Africa Twin Off Road Exploring Near Mary's Peak, Oregon

- Come along on a Honda Africa Twin off road exploring adventure to the tallest mountain in Oregon's Coast Range: Mary's Peak. The surrounding area offers miles of logging roads to explore, which are just perfect for a Honda Africa Twin adventure ride. In this video, we attempt to get to the viewpoint at the top of the mountain, only to discover it's been closed off like many other public areas due to recent events. Fortunately, we were able to explore some nearby logging roads and find a couple waterfalls, some interesting spur roads, snow, some puddles to splash through, and an interesting muddy side road that eventually dead ended so we had to turn around.
Exploring forest roads on my adventure motorcycle is one of my favorite activities. This Honda Africa Twin adventure was a great way to spend the day getting out and exploring the forest.

Being somewhat of a loner, the stay away orders dont bother me to much, took off work for two weeks.
1. Wake up
2. Drink coffee, watch youtube
3. Ride one of two bikes
4. Watch movie
5. Day/night drinking
Wash repeat🤙🥃
I always love all the green your riding life, but you can have all the wet stuff. Of course this morning I woke up to 2 inches of snow and it's currently raining in my otherwise normally dry as heck desert.
Dang, that's a surprise to wake up to, for sure.
LOL! Never tempt the PNW Rain Gods XD
WOW - Oregon is beautiful!
It really is. I'm super lucky to have such great riding areas so close.
Just riding to work and back. Or today took the truck it was -14°C. Got enough gogo juice for both, for a few weeks.
Start selling Oregonian Twin Pottery😆
I have looked too long at an owl once...didn't crash but did get stuck in a swamp. My wing men help pull me out😎
Those interesting birds'll get ya, for sure.
@@DorkintheRoad 😆
Drivers doing things they shouldn’t be doing 1:55....check out the last video from Shadetree Surgeon to see a really close call. Thanks for the ride Dork, you have a nice AT.
Thank you. Thanks for watching!
Excellent video, logging roads look like fun, Africa Twin sounds good. I've been working, truck driver. I hope to get out this weekend and go for a ride.
Great video, looks like a fun ride
I had a great time!
Between the constant threat of thunderstorms, flooding and covid I've been off the bike lately. Thanks for uploading this and making it easier on me.
Happy to provide a compelling distraction where I can.
I started riding that road from the Harlan side a few weeks ago, got spooked by the mud and turned back. I'm just not comfortable taking 500 pounds of bike over slippery mud. You seem to deal with it pretty well on the Twin.
Riding in the snow is fun I see your getting more comfortable on the big twin
I been looking on craigs list for African twin some day I'll pull the pin on purchase
I'm starting to get my feet under me. Good luck finding one! They're great bikes.
Hey man I've pretty much watched all your vids...Really cool and inspiring.
Nice video! Been working on some of my bikes getting ready for spring. Not much riding yet!
Haven’t been able to ride since this started...in Southern California they have shut down all the OHV areas and are stationing officers on trails and fire roads issuing tickets to anyone they find out on the dirt roads.
Dang even the dirt roads? That sucks.
Great scenery, even in the snow/rain. What gloves are you wearing in this vid?
Tourmaster Cold-Tex 3.0. Pretty good in cold-ish temperatures. Not 100% waterproof but it takes a torrential, sustained downpour to soak through them.
Man, you always release these while I'm at work. How am I supposed to productive and get anything done.
I mean, you could always wait to watch until you get off....but I don't personally recommend it ;)
That was my problem. Working from home means TH-cam availability. Oh oh.
Then technically your a professional youtube watcher...if your getting compensated while watching😆
I miss the valley in the spring. Are they opening any of the coastal fishing or is it no fun allowed for all state outdoor recreation like here in Washington?
Most outdoor recreation is still allowed, at least in terms of COVID closures. I'm not sure what the fisheries are doing as far as normal restrictions.
I went out for a ride yesterday and just enjoyed it, other than that, been a moderator for this moto vloggers discord, kinda weird if you ask me 😂
I don't recommend getting involved in those wacky Discord things, personally.
@@DorkintheRoad It's a terrible idea for sure 🤣
I hope that you will get the part for the Brozz 250! I’m looking forward to seeing you ride it on some back roads.
Great vid Dork! 100% agree with you on the keeping away from groups and health community concerns in case of accident. Thats something I also think about while riding. Keep up the good work!
When I heard the music start, I was wondering if there was a LCR crossover.
Just trying out something a little different I found in the YT music library.
@@DorkintheRoad Yeah, that is a bit of music that I associate with another motovlog channel. Not criticizing, though, it's free to use for everyone, and good motorcycle music!
Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, I want to go there!!!!
Not sure when I will get to OR but when I do if you don't mind I would love to come do an exploration ride and or colab with you.
You always seem to be getting into fun shenanigans and awesome trails like I do whenever the chance arises.
Great video and again the greenery/scenery is just WOW!
CHEERS!
Thanks man! Thanks for watching!
Dork in the Road of course dork lol you did all the work I just got to watch ;)
Ah so good to see you out there again :o) Guess what - i had to go to the drugstore (pharmacy) today to get me some med´s and Tadaaaaaaa - i took my bike for the ride (even extended the ride a bit) :o) Felt sooo good to be back on the bike again after my emergency surgery 5th of march. Today we had 26°C in the sun so i just couldn´t help myself but to get on the bike. You have the more interesting roads though :o)
Glad you were able to get out on the bike!
Good to see you've been out riding too. My company has me travelling at the moment, weather is nice so I took the AT. Gonna find some dirt on the way back home...if I dont get stuck in lockdown.
Man I wish I lived in a state with mountains...
5% chance of rain MY ASS
I'm sure you understand my frustration. Typical around here, though.
@@DorkintheRoad yeah. Here in New England, almost anything can happen weather wise. On some level, I really like that. I lived in L.A. for 3+ years and it was a blur of monotonous sunny days. I'll take the former over the latter, no question.
