    The North American release of the Ibex 450 was pushed back after I made this video, but it should be available by the end of the year.
    ALSO this was filmed over a month BEFORE the Himalayan 450 launch so I did not yet have experience with it for comparison.

    Attention: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki, the 350-550cc range is where we want to see you making dual sports and "small" adventure bikes. The longstanding gap between a 250 and the jump to a 650+ isn't working out. You've had 20+ years to figure that out, and it looks like some other manufacturers are going to solve the problem for us without you.

    • @WetFeet4
      @WetFeet4 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yep CF and Kove and a couple others in US now. Suzuki could’ve updated the DRZ years ago and made a killing. And KTM killed the 490 Adv project for some stupid reason. Heck they can’t even come out with a 690 Adv on a model they already have. There is the Honda 450 but not the same thing.

      @timbrandt7211 the ktm 390 adventure r and enduro r have been announced for next year which use the new 399cc engine. There have been rumours and spy shots of them for ages but finally official.

      @@danielpoulis9855yes the 390 will be interesting to see the level of build and components they decide to use.

      @timbrandt7211 you aren't wrong, a 450-500 would be pretty sick. All the current 450s are kinda farmbikes. I ride a 2023 390 adv sw and my dad rides a 2023 690 enduro r. My bike manages on the highway but not super comfortable but trudges along offroad. The 690 meanwhile hates to go slow but obviously has way better suspension, is lighter, is super planted, and chilling on the highway, also it chews tires.

    • @martyn_g
      @martyn_g 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WetFeet4the 390 is a road engine - and it acts like one. You spend half your time slipping the clutch at low speed. The new one needs to crawl in low gear without stuttering and carrying on like a pork chop.

      For the last decade, I've been convinced that the Big Moto cartel conspired to prevent us from having a lightweight off road oriented ADV bike with the power to cruise on the highway in order to protect the sales of their bloated expensive 800 cc and 1250 cc ADV bikes. No more! Now they'll need to compete or lose market share to CF Moto, Kove, etc.

    A lot of more experienced riders in Australia (and elsewhere) have purchased this bike for themselves - not just entry level. On paper, it's relatively heavy but it carries its weight so low that it feels and rides much lighter. A lot of folks have replaced the 14T front sprocket to a 15T to reduce revs at highway speeds. The suspension feels stiff but it's really dialled in for aggressive riding, I've hit some serious pot holes at some speed and it didn't bottom out. Folding mirrors, folding gear shifter and folding brake pedal come standard. The problem is, like many first year models bikes, is parts and accessories available. It's the KTM that KTM didn't make, instead allowed CFMoto to build.

    • @Sargnort

      @nevillegreg1 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @Sargnort Yes, I wound out the rebound about 4 clicks from the Factory setting to soften the shock, seems to have done the trick. SSSM in Tamworth have a custom spring for the rear shock which is dialed in to rider's weight but I haven't heard any feedback if it improves the ride and is worth doing.

    Thanks Dork, I hope the release date is not pushed back, have had a deposit in on one in Colorado since spring, (first in line for gray version), and I was originally told Sep-Oct time frame. I live up high in Colorado, so in October I will likely struggle to find riding days, ok with cold, but not ice and snow. Thanks for the review. I'm intermediate level but older, so this seems like the ticket to me. I saw one in person in July, sat on it but that was it. I did however ride the 450 NK. I hadn't ridden a real street oriented bike since my 73 Yamaha RD350 (I know, 50 years!). It seemed to have plenty of power for Denver highways, but real power was really high in the rev range and the sport seating position was hard to get used to. Looks great for more planned BDRs and a trip way down south. Sound is really good and not too loud, love that gurgle. I used to work just down the street from CFMoto in Hangzhou in the 90s, and you are wrong if you don't think Chinese firms can't make good quality. CF in Mandarin is "Chun Feng", which means spring wind, and I'd say it's fitting for this entry into the ADV market.

    I've seen so many people praise these, that you giving your approval is pushing me over the edge. I'm getting one for next year. They are dirt cheap (1k euro less than NX500 from Honda for example), it does everything I want, is my size (I'm 5ft6 with 31inch in-seam) and can do touring for when I inevitably get tired and just decide to go back 300km on a motorway. Unless the availability isn't gonna keep up, then I'll just get a run down 1998 bmw f650gs funduro for a tenner and a bottle of good wine to run it into the ground while waiting for it lmao.

    I've had mine since late June and love it. I've been riding for 7 years and this is my 1st adventure bike. I've done 1600km or 1000 miles. I have the stock crash bars upper and lower, HD bash plate, taller windscreen, luggage racks and other small protection items. Stock tyres are ok on road, hard pack gravel roads but a garbage on the slippery wet mud and I believe crap on soft sand. I will also purchase the factory colour coded high mount front guard as I've heard stories of the front wheel locking up due to so much mud getting stuck between guard and tyre. I have several videos of this bike on my channel if you care to have a look. Also you didn't mention the choppy throttle when going from 0 - 20% throttle off road. CF Moto have made updates to the fuel mapping to eliminate it. I believe you can improve it by adjusting the amount of slack in the cable. Updates can be made online via the app if you put it on your phone.

I like the 650 but getting a little older and not a lot of riding so was looking at something smaller. I was about dead set on the KTM 390. I, like I guess just about everyone else, wondered why one of the Japanese companies didn't make a bike like this before, a little bit bigger CRF Rally with a lower seat height or a smaller T7... and keep it in the entry level price point. All that said, it seemed you mentioned a Tenere 450 a couple times but I didn't go back to verify, and I don't see one in google. This may be something I pick up next year though I wish it was made somewhere else.
