3 Days Riding ADV Bikes and Motorcycle Camping on the Oregon Back Country Discovery Route

- This three day Oregon BDR adventure riding and motorcycle camping extravaganza was my very first multi-day adv riding and motorcycle camping trip back in 2020. I know that many of you came to the channel after that, so I've edited this former multi-part video into one full-length camping adventure video for you to enjoy! This trip took place in October of 2020, and Travis, Dakota, and I rode from Reedsport on the Oregon Coast to Crescent Lake entirely off road and in the backcountry. Route 6 is part of the old Oregon backcountry discovery route system, which contains several different tracks through the Oregon back country and was originally assembled by the Oregon Off Highway Vehicle Association.
In this adv riding and motocamping adventure video, we explore both the Oregon Coast Range and the Oregon Cascades, run into trouble when we try to ride through an Oregon wildfire, and generally enjoy three awesome days of motorcycle camping and adventure motorcycle riding shenanigans.

Went up dean mountain 3 days ago got to a foot of snow with tracks cut through and turned around.
The REAL news is -bout 10 miles north of Edson park turnoff on 101 I rode by a guy stopped on a bike. Looked weird went back to see. Met with a 75 year old guy riding a Honda trailblazer? 125. He said he bought aforementioned conveyance 4000 miles away. At that point, unsure who was bulshitting who, I rolled out northbound. The whole scene replays in my head every once in awhile. Anyway had no idea where to go with that tale. Seized with inspiration here I am. Any sightings of that odd combo Please Advise. He couldn’t have been making more than 50. I’m thinking take a long time to get anywhere like this story.
I’ve got a huge dry duffle bag, it loads from the top like a duffle bag so it’s easier to get stuff out of. I can get the majority of my camping/tent related stuff in it. Tent, air mattress, small axe and my chair. Sleeping bag I stuff into a separate dry sack.

Great video! I've done #6 a few years ago but missed that eastern section due to a puncture. Seems like need to get back some day.
You may seriously consider OBCDR #5! Some sections there're even more challenging than WABDR. Done that last fall in my 4x4, thinking to return there on two-wheels.
I think Charles told me a couple weeks ago the OBCDR has been released finally. Oh, you could have turned right when you got to Hills Cr Res. and go up and over Immigrant Pass a ways south of there. If that wasn't in the burn too.
I grew up in Sutherlin. As a teenager with a yamaha dt175 in 1980 I traveled a lot of logging roads.
Still wearing mask up there or was that last year?? Never mind just saw it was 2020.
What are your thoughts on the ‘23 Honda XR150L? Would a better choice be the Bashan Brozz?
Thanks for the fun vid. We did this BDR a couple years ago, reverse direction as you, from Crescent Lake to the coast. I was Jeep mule for a bunch of bikes. Got turned around at Summit Lake bc of snow and deep puddles. A 14 yo boy swamped his bike in an 18"deep puddle -- we put the bike on my Jeep, refreshed it with WD40 and a new spark plug in Southerlin and he rode again. Now i have a Himalayan after watching your review and many others. Looking forward to BDR's on a bike myself now.

Enjoying your content, thanks for the hard work. I'm planning to ride the WABDR and/or ORBDR in late June/early July. You think this is too early with this year's snow...worried about high elev route closures. Assuming you have some local insights to the typical snowmelt. I'll be hauling my 450rl from TX, so hoping for two in one trip - riding solo.
You may have to reroute a time or two but it's possible it's clear by then. Normally it would be but we had a heavy snow year.

Yeah just wanted you to know that you have inspired myself and 8 of my buddies to do the WA and ID BDR. We completed the WA last summer and we are hitting ID this Aug. if you can relocate your ohone and thing a tad lower down on either side of the speedo, you would have a much better view ahead, and not run into things unexpectedly..
