    Another place you can find art is at sidewalk art fairs. You many art schools have student art sales where you can get many thing for not much. Also you’ll be helping local artists and you not find the next Picasso.

    I truly appreciate your advice on interior design. I love accessories as well. My problem is finding storage when changing/ switching out items and not forgetting about what I have in my closet full of decor. These are not "seasonal items" so I'm struggling with finding a use again and/or where to repurpose.

I subscribe to several interior design channels, and many of your recommendations are ones that I've heard for the first time. This is all so helpful. I've followed previous recommendations that you've made and LOVE the impact they've made. My home has since received compliments from every single person who has visited. I'd love to see you focus on smaller businesses and artists that offer unique pieces online. Yes, I buy from Amazon, Home Depot, Target, Pottery Barn, et. al. Many times I go into someone's home and can tell exactly what decorator they follow simply from where they buy their decor. Ease is great. But unique is better.

    • @HouseofValentina
      @HouseofValentina  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      We mix the two in our home. We collect unique pieces as we travel and explore but we also bring in pieces from other businesses. We also try and make design more democratic, allowing people access to more options. So we try to balance budget, availability and style so that more people can access good design.

I recently bought RH bedroom set (St. James) as I see in your videos you have one of their pieces. I’m conflicted, however since I bought two nightstands- one open and one closed like they have in their showrooms. I don’t know if I should have went with two open for symmetry. If you can let me know your thoughts I’d SO GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!! 😊

    Pet owners, please research your scented products if you have cats or dogs. Some fumes cause respiratory problems, some are poisonous, even more so if your pet has asthma. This includes candles, potpourri, sprays, plug-ins etc. I LOVE scented candles but my cat goes into sneeze attacks when I use, so I just put some oranges etc in water on stove on low and let the scent fill that side of the house.

    No glitter for me! Look to local artist for your artwork. There are a lot of great artists. If they sell prints they can be economical as well. I do my own watercolors and photography.

    • @ilikecontent2327
      @ilikecontent2327 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. I buy from local artists and create my own artwork. I love to work with acrylics and sometimes oils. I love thrifting and re-finishing furniture I find at garage sales, thrift stores. I have found some beautiful handmade kiln fired ceramics, vintage solid wood furniture, etc. This way... More personal than from stores that mass produce. Still I sometimes need to get rugs, furniture from stores... It is a necessity at times. So seeing products from stores does help at times. 😉

    I so agree with having a neutral area rug to define a sitting area or around the bed. Ive opted for a wool Nortic Knots rug, and love the look and feel as I step out of bed each morning. The books I display (near my collection on mid century vases) are 100 year old fiction with gorgeous illustrations and filigree chapter numbering. Thank you for your tip about steaming. I try to get the sheets out of the dryer and right on the bed, but my hand steamer would do the trick, too!

    Hi Valentina. I love your channel and your modern classic design style.
    Getting my bathroom done now and the tile I picked is not having the impact that I wanted. It's a faux marble Carrara statuario. Basically white with minimal charcoal veining. This is the shower wall and floor tile for the ensuite. Now I'm confused as to how to style the rest of the bathroom. I really don't want an all white bathroom. I just ordered a black oak vanity and all my faucets are chrome. What are some good options for wall color that will add a wow factor? This tile is not doing it unfortunately 😕 . I appreciate any help with this.

    Can you steam bedding if you have a memory foam or latex mattress? I would be concerned about the heat

    Though gold leaf, instead of glitter, perhaps more elevated, with art pieces.

    Love this video, you always give great advice and get my creative juices flowing lol! It would be fun to do a series where people tag you in the spaces they’ve created and you and hubby judge the design.

    I disagree about using vases as decor unless they have flowers or faux greenery/florals in them. What's the point? Better to buy an actual sculpture rather than a "sculptural vase" or a faux marble bust, for pete's sake. Changing out a "chandelier" - I thought you were talking about "upgraded" decorating on a BUDGET. I don't know about your other readers, but I can't afford to fork out $100 plus (let alone $500 plus) for a "chandelier." "Designer" lightning is NEVER affordable. Come on Valentina, I expect better from you. What kind of "inexpensive decorating budget" are you talking about? I can't afford $300, let alone $5,000.

    Hack from the hotel industry with wrinkled sheets. Lay them and make your bed. Get a water bottle with a spray nozzle. Fill the bottle with hot water and spray over the linen. You can now easily create wrinkle free bedding.

    Thank you for sharing the wonderful home and lifestyle idea. I'd like to suggest that purchasing original art from art students would also be a choice and would help the emerging artists.

    I’m just starting the video, I can already tell you I LOVE IT… lol. I have a question about white couches. Do you prefer performance fabric over washable ones? I’m pulling the trigger this year. I also have chronic back pain, is West Elm more comfortable than PotteryBarn? Or is it just deciding on a style I want? I want a great couch that will last? Thanks so much for all you do Valentina!

      @HouseofValentina  ปีที่แล้ว

      It mainly comes down to style differences. We have sofas from both and love them both. Some of the ones from Pottery Barn do feel a bit more soft and plush so it depends on whether you need it to be softer or a bit firmer.
