    Sounds like the warchief is now on top of the bismuth pile of hunting rounds!!! With a full length tps wad with buffer.
    What a difference between the warchief and legacy loads!!!!
    Looks like handload performance in a mass produced product. Deffinately worth the 💰!!!

    That's really great information and I appreciate all the work you put into these tests, I really do. I just hope the skyblasters that hunt near me don't see this video or I'll never get the ducks in range lol. All jokes aside, I bought the Bismuth Bone Buster ER to try this year. I've always used the Carlson waterfowl MR but if the bismuth choke helps keep the pellets from deforming and fragmenting, I'd say its worth a try. Thanks again

    Another great video and blast of info George! It’s hard to imagine such an improvement with the warchief from legacy loads. I’ve been using boss for 3 seasons and no doubt about results. I’ve patterned and put them to the real world test. Cost is now a real concern for me. I’m doing some pattern testing soon with Migra. Would like to see some good results with this for early tk mid season, and use my Boss for late honkers. Again, great info George. Thanks

      They aren't cheap for sure. Supply has been fluctuating since they were just released. I shot this video maybe the day after I got the shells, within a week they were mostly sold out. But they will come back around as BOSS now has all of their production lines working at full speed.

      You'll spend less shooting these with much less shooting at cripples. I know because I tried these last year. I was stoning Canada geese and canvasbacks with the 3/5 blend and I was wounding those same birds with 3.5" #2 steel loads. Just sayin ill keep the steel for clean up if ever needed but these are forever my go to shells for waterfowl hunting.

    This is great and hopefully reduce cripple numbers but curious to see the comments during and after this season from guys who setup too close or others setting up too close on public using Boss bismuth and feeling that 3"+ penetration. Just a thought. Not that TSS wouldn't have similar if not more downrange energy. We know how alot of people are on public. Keep up the great work I enjoy your presentations and they are invaluable especially for new hunters trying to figure things out 🤙😎

    • @TheNewHuntersGuide
      @TheNewHuntersGuide  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks! You cannot have too much energy. If all the pellets pass through, that's as good as it gets. But you can have a pattern that is too tight which makes it easy to miss or disintegrates the bird. You won't want to use this choke at close range at all.

    Another informative video, but I agree with HALWG51. In fact I shoot most of my ducks within 40yds with my new re-loads in a 3" case. 32grns of B/dot (I know you can use more, but this works well with not much recoil; enable you to get on to the next bird quicker) with a B&P 35 wad containing 90 steel 5's (2.8mm) + 150 steel 3's (3.5mm) on top; and a deep crimp. With a Browning imp cyl choke. This is lethal on decoyed teal and wigeon. AND CHEAP!

    Ps. Your videos were very usefull and informative, especially bismuth vs steel vs lead.

    • @TheNewHuntersGuide
      @TheNewHuntersGuide  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much! I am not a big 410 fan, I feel like it's a comprise for bird hunting unless you use tss. Ranges get shortened alot. I think 28 or 20 is ideal. You can always use light 20 or 28 loads to reduce recoil and still be ahead of a 410. I also find 410s are so light that the felt recoil isn't much improved. I've shot some clays with one once, it felt like a serious handicap beyond close range.

    Ever thought about doing a video on the best order one should load their shotgun? Let's say going turkey hunting. Best to have the #4 lead shot shell in chamber where second shell will be a #5 shot and the third shell a #6? Or best to reverse that order because by the time you fire the 3rd shot the turkey will be farther away and #4 best for 3rd shell? Or best to have all three shells #6? And so on....... Or isn't there any advantage on the shot shell order in your shotgun to increase % kill?

    • @TheNewHuntersGuide
      @TheNewHuntersGuide  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi thanks for the idea! That is a very hotly debated topic. I will give it some thought as to how I might be able to do a helpful presentation on the subject. I don't want it to just be my opinion, which is rather boring, I would just use TSS #9 and hopefully never need a second shot. But the question has a lot of merit that maybe I can test.

  • @HALWG51

    Could you run the warchief through a more open choke (like skeet, IC or LM) to see if it keeps the same size pattern but more pellets, or if it shrinks the pattern?

    • @TheNewHuntersGuide
      @TheNewHuntersGuide  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Honestly, I don't even own a choke in all those sizes. Never needed one. The Muller Decoy is the closest comparison, I used it in the test video I did with 9 chokes. I think it saw 70%-ish patterns. Which opens this load up nicely for regular range hunts.

  • @KinetikES
    @KinetikES 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Is there a real world advantage for the mixed 3&5 shot? Or is it an unnecessary compromise that looses on both fronts? I.e. Not enough 3 to really be effective at long range or bigger birds or too much for smaller birds at close range (blow them to bits). I’m a newbie and trying to figure out a good “beginner” do-it-all (I know that’s not really possible) shell. Something to begin with and start patterning etc. thanks for the content!

    • @TheNewHuntersGuide
      @TheNewHuntersGuide  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      In my testing I find it performs almost the same as #4, except it patterns better in my gun. Alot better. That's the main reason I use it. Does it pattern better in everyone's gun? I doubt it. But that's why we test. In terms of ballistic effectiveness, it's almost the same as 4s.

    Why don't you use a lead sled

    • @TheNewHuntersGuide
      @TheNewHuntersGuide  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is no point, unless you use a scope or multi point sight. Body position determines shot placement, sleds and tripods change body position which shift point of impact. Unless you have a rifle optic system or red dot, the sled hurts as much as it helps. And the paper is so large, it will catch the entire pattern, even when I'm off.
