I had surgical carpal tunnel decompression on both wrists, at different times. Both procedures were completely successful, and no rehabilitation was needed. I also had an ulnar nerve transposition on my right arm many years later, again, completely successful, although the area was slightly tender for some months. The carpal tunnel incision shown on your video was hideously long - both mine were tiny in comparison (My surgeons were first rate..!).

Excellent explanation! I suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome on both hands (mild) and guyon canal syndrome on the left arm. Nobody was able to explain me why the guyon canal syndrome happened. Could these two syndromes be connected to several problems in my back. It would be great a video on the guyon syndrome. Thank you.

I have carpal tunnel 13 years ago, I am a seamstress that work in my shop about 9 hrs a day, and use scissor alot, the nerve doctor daid I need surgery, but he also told me if I continue over used my hand, than it will come back later, but if I stop use my hand too much, and I dont need surgery so I decided to stop working and retired, well the doctor tell the truth, because it heal by it self after a while, and never come back since.
Excellent description about phalens test symptoms and prevention positioning & investigations of carpaltunnel syndrome..good recomedations about physiotherapy rehab and splinting ....there are evidence based tendon & nerve gliding exs add up value to get recovery in carpal tunnel...to prevent surgeries . If its early ...thank you dr ..

Hi Doc, kindly speak about pain in both shoulders front and back and the pain is also felt when the neck is moved backward. Muscles cited above get really very stiff. Please recommend some exercises or diet or even medicine. Thanks
Great video. For me it's ice and movement restriction. Stretching and "exercises" makes it worse. It's like it gets into an inflammation feedback loop that self perpetuates with movement and exercises and daily use. If I can get the inflammation under the threshold normal movements don't put it into the loop and it feels "normal". Does this make sense physiologically?

Hi there just watched your video, ive seen the docs for pain in wrist and thumb that shoots up my arm to my neck and shoulder, ive been told 1st i had cold shoulder, then i insisted in having nerve testing done as the pain is horrible, today i had tests and the doc says she sees no sign of carpel tunnel but thinks i have tennis elbow, which makes no sense to me because i work manually with my wrist alot also do some computer work when i get home and if i press on the middle inside of my wrist for a few minutes the pain goes away, same for the inside of my thumb, i feel im being diagnosed wrong, i purchased a wrist support band a few months ago and used while i slept and things got better so i stopped now the pain is back two fold, do you have any suggestions for me.
