I like how this campaign shows the difference between the propaganda of the Empire of Man and what actually goes on in combat. "Exterminatus" to all Xenos is often bandied about as the only solution to encountering Xenos, in propaganda. However, in reality, it is considered an extreme measure to purge a Xenos world, so in truth there must be thousands of primitive Xenos civilizations inside the borders of the Empire (at least in the fringes) whose knowledge is only truly known to the military and are spared from being purged by the humanity of... Humans.
Isn't it it weird that Space Marines would develop some sympathy towards a xenos race, even if it proves to be a worthy opponent ? Shouldn't they be convicted of heresy for such an attitude ? Is it coherent for the Imperium to even allow discussions with the water caste ?
I guess it can depend on who is writing the story. The likes of the Ordo Xenos probably have enough influence to organize meetings and even deals with the Tau if its in the Imperium's best interest. Also, the instinct for self preservation is strong and only the most fanatical inquisitors would probably say no to some tau assistance when there's a Carnifex next door. As for the Space Marines, some do respect the abilities of an enemy more than others.
I think propaganda is one thing "exterminatus to all" and the reality of actually purging a sentient species is another, clearly, in the field, this decision is not made lightly.
Even if the crusade had been executed to perfection it would have been irrelevant to how it would have had to end... The Tyranids dictated how that initial clash between the Imperium and the Tau was going to turn out ultimately. The only important lesson that should have been taken from the entirety of the matter, is sadly not something that humanity has yet garnered; not in all of the time from it's initial discovery of the Tyranids very existence unto to the Imperium's current era... They were expanding against the Tau, and on many other fronts as well, when the unimaginable threat that is the Tyranid hive mind forced them to draw back from almost every front in order to BARELY repel that initial (and by far the weakest) Tyranid fleet's probing invasive arm... Yet immediately after barely surviving this the Imperium turned back to warring with the rest of the Galaxy as if the mortal threat of the Tyranids would be just another xeno species that could be dealt with accordingly.... They are not. Each successive wave has been exponentially stronger and more adaptive to the Imperium's military strengths. Also, there is not, as far as it can be determined, any end to the Tyranids numberless swarms of horrific monstrous invaders; They will keep coming, each time being more numerous and far better prepared, until they have utterly destroyed all organic life in the entire galaxy.... This is inevitable, unless the galaxies different factions unite and seek out the source of the Tyranid threat to destroy it once and for all!
Humanity+Eldar+Necrons. And tell Orks there is a big fight, da best un. You don't need anyone else and trying to unite anyone else would be much effort for very little gain. Humans give the numbers, Eldars give their psionics and tech, Necrons give the tech of their own and orks are a meatshield you work around and try not to get bitten by. That way you can protect the galaxy. There are just three big butts. One, eldars are deceitfull, backstabbing liars you can't trust. Two, barely anyone knows that you can actually TALK with Necrons not to mention maybe forge a deal/agreement of any kind. Three, Eldars are too proud to become part of the alliance with someone as inferior as humans. Some of them might and that could possibly be enough for the tech aspect but without Necrons i don't think there is much that can be done in the longest of runs.
Farely sure that in warhammer 40k terms, billions only amounts to moderate casualties, and given how fast the Tau expand, that probably took less than a decade to recover from.
The Imperium would have wipe out the Blueberries were it not for the Giant Space Bug making the entire Eastern Imperium into an all you can eat Buffet. So as of now the Imperium put the fight hold, and Blueberries think the Galaxy is their, but are about to get a rude awakening because of Chaos.

Wow I got to say about the tau being cowards but hey do hit-and-run tactics kind of good the Imperials just their simple just charge at the enemies but yeah
I would not call their way of waging war as worthy or honorable, word cowardly cowers it better its not that hard or scary to just launch missiles or torpedos from the extreme distances. I guess exterminatus is adequate and deserved responce for the thau.

Harmless fishing planet:
Imperial Commander: Lol let’s reenactment the ancient Terran event on these blue bastards!
Yeah, those Tau fishermen are really dangerous...those fillet knives and all...
there are more frightening things out there in the void, than another mouth breather with one head and two ears...

My strategy? Donuts...and coffee...everyone can get along over donuts and a nice cup of java:)
They'd probably disagree on the make-up of the donuts.
Great video, love the war/battle accounts
Thanks.
Inquisitor: *blasts crab rave
Tau are gone
Got to watch out for those Tau fishermen..... Best orbital bombard the planet 🌏 😂☢️
whats the name of the book for this story?
There's multiple books for this event. One you could look for is titled simply "Damocles" and its an anthology.
Lol indecisive, when tau casualties where well in the billions and only 19 regiments of guardsman where deployed, quiet literally a small force

@@jdcrosier2682 you forgot to mention the head of the Tau was killed by a single Imperial Assassin LUL
I waz ere! In this comment section not in the Damocles Gulf..... !
Too bad, there was better fightin' in the Damocles Gulf!
FOR THE EMPEROR!!!

Chaos but tau have no presence in the warp..
