I really enjoy the illustration at 2:43. It reminds me of the battle of Rourke's Drift in the Zulu wars. If I strain, I think I can even faintly hear Michael Caine and Stanley Baker yelling encouragements to the troops. ; )
Custer's last stand, anyone? The captain of the Imperial force was ridiculously called Arm Kastar ... General G Armstrong Custer. Good vid, as always, GDN👍
This is not the correct assumption. A better one would be the battle of isandlwana during the Anglo Zulu war campaign. In which an entire column of British soldiers were wiped out by a force of around 20,000 natives. The thing that conforms the cross over there is the fact that in 40k law there was a much smaller battle just after the battle of Big Toof River, called the battle of Glazer's river. where the Ork's that didn't fight in the battle went to attack a small outpost held by the Praetorian guard who were completely outnumbered and in a dire situation with many of their force being prior wounded or sick. This completely mirrors the events following the battle of Isandlwana where the Zulu warriors who did not get to fight in the battle were thirsty for blood and as such they attacked a mission station held by only 250 British soliders, mainly engineers and sick and wounded, compared to the Zulu force of four thousand men. However just like the battle after that of Big Toof River, the British were able to not only survive but they won the battle which would later be named the Battle Of Rorkes Drift. Just as the 40K universe this in part was able to cover up their prior defeat and restore some form of public support for the war.

Every so often, the intensely British feel of early 40k really comes to the fore. I've never understood the British fixation on their defeats and diminishment. It's been a fixture of their culture seemingly since the Edwardian era.
@Kyros Droztamyr yea... You don't know what it is. It's an economic system. The economic system which traditionally the British empire considered it was built on. Despite the dubiousness of the claim. But hey ho, have a normal one.
I think geting used to a set of achievements that mark you as "the greatest", is akin to living with certain luxuries. Have them for enough time and you might not be able to live without them. Or at least not live without yearning to have them back in perpetuity.

Such a great iconic battle. I wasn't at the event to see it unfortunately but the theme of the battle was so cool.. I miss that era of Warhammer.

Ork's Drift.
The Praetorians even look a bit like colonial infantry in some artworks.

There were a lot of similarities between both Custer’s Last Stand at the Little Bighorn and Chelmsford’s defeat at IShandlwana…
@@ayoungconservative1051there were only 140 odd men at Rorke’s Drift (NOT 250) and 40 odd of them were hospital patients!!!
The numbers are so small, that what's really stands out to me.
That's what i thought as well.
I have that WD Battle Report somewhere.

Probably because they have far more victories than defeats, which allows for those luxuries? Dont know.

What in the world is a “Tyranid Dominatrix”😂
Its an actual old tyranid unit. Synapse creature like the tyrant but also a titan unit.
For the Emperor!!!
Never underestimate anyone...especially greenskins.
I find it interesting The Blood Axes fought alongside The Imperium to the death.

Zulu in space lol
I'm not the SJW type but this is probably the single most racist thing in 40k. The Orcs are literally being compared to African Zulu's. 😂😂😂
