  • In this HOW TO video, we'll finally get into building and detailing the 1/25 Dodge Hemi racing engine for our JR Salvinos Charger. This is Pt #7 of the Butch Hartman USAC Dodge Charger build. Follow along as we add a Pro Tech distributor and plug wires. As well as a little scratch building and plumbing of the fuel system to add some interest and detail to the top of the engine. We're getting closer to the finish line on this one!

    Finally getting to the engine on this beast. I'd like your feedback as viewers of these videos. Do you prefer the long, drawn out multi-episode series like this that can focus more in depth on specific things? Or are you more interested in complete start to finish "full build" style video? Thanks for the support so far through this one! CK

      Yes. I like how you break it down into “sub-assemblies”. I can focus more on the process of each step. Always learning. Thanks

      There’s a lot of channels that will do both. I like the longer videos with more of the details myself. May be worth also having shortened videos that show more of the high points for the sake of having a little more content and to build up subscribers? Great video btw!

    I have personally learned a ton from your videos…especially this series. It’s easy to get caught up on the “details” and forget to build clean. You consistently show that both can be done. The more details the better (hint hint). Thanks for the inspiration.

  • @mestapho2011
    @mestapho2011 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like when builders do the videos as you are doing them, like specified portions of the build. Frame, engine, drive train, seats.. especially if there are specific things your doing, like the racing seat. That video was awesome.. along with the window netting. Then after your finished, do a condensed complete build video highlighting all those pieces and the final product in one video. That way someone who doesn't want to watch each piece being detailed can just watch the "Build" video which is the entire thing. And then you can add a playlist containing the build and the detailed build vids for that particular model. I think you're in the right range of about 20 minutes for the vids. Not sure what your music preferences are but something more related to the subject.. maybe a nice guitar melody for something like a NASCAR build but that's up to you.
    Now I have a question. You are definitely a Top Tier builder with work being in publications and such.. I'm wondering why you left the kit belt on the fan assembly? Was it too much hassle to remove and replace for the time constraints or do you not see benefit of doing so? The tape belts always look better due to the kit belts/fans being way off scale.. Cause you know it can be a pita sometimes..
    Sorry for the long post, but you asked for the input. And this is probably my favorite kit building channel presently. Your channel is the only one that I play through the vid (mostly) without constantly skipping forward. The attention to details is remarkable.. that's why I'm wondering about that belt.. 😁

    • @ClayKemp
      @ClayKemp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comments Michael....as far as the fan belts go....the main focus on this project was just to try and find a few places here and there I could add some details to to enhance the kit. I didn't want to go crazy on re doing or modifying every part of it, and spend so much time I'd never finish it. So I tried to just hit a few areas that needed some help, and used the kit for the rest. With the pulleys and belts being all black in a black engine bay it wouldn't have been worth the time or money on this particular project. Hope that makes sense!

    • @mestapho2011
      @mestapho2011 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ClayKemp yeah good point.. i find myself going overboard sometimes on things that in the end you might not even see and that can lead to frustrations and another box with a half built kit.. you answered my question.

      I did a bit of both on this one. I had a few clips where I had to glue them in place, but they weren't very usable, and didn't really fit the flow of the video. But you're probably better off to put a tiny bit of glue once you are happy with the length of the wire.
