Very informative. I retired after 45 years of poles and wires working for my neighbouring power company. I used to build model race cars 35 years ago but children and work and school got in the way. Now I have the time, my career behind me, my B.S. In Electrical Engineering and my MBA accomplished so I'm finally back to modelling .....Yeah!!!!!!!. So videos like this are very valuable to me since things have changed so much when I last was modelling. You are very down to earth.....Th and you!!!!!!
I can see doing this if you were entering it in a show,or you had alot of guests at your house, but to it just for yourself........GOD BLESS you. I build for me. No one else seems my builds. Spark plug wires, and battery terminals is it for me. Who knows though, your video may of inspired me to take it to the next level. 👌👍
Thanks for the info after watching your video you inspired me to get into it so lookout for my video in the future Thank you again all the way from Trinidad & Tobago
That's actually pretty clever but simple, but you could use like a small piece of rubber to make it look more real like I do. I've used rubber o rings, pieces of actual belts and things like that, but this was still helpful for when I run out if the materials I use I know that I could use masking tape n it would plus will also look good and authentic to.
Like u said , it looks like a lot of work. But its better than spending a lot of money on photo- etch. Will give it a try in the near future. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Darren, Those things drive me nuts too!! I never even thought of that and you say that takes extra time. LOL I disagree paining those setups when there all together and trying to get the belt flat black and alternator pulley silver etc.. Takes even more time and is super frustrating. I am doing this next build for sure!! Thanks alot. Joe
That is awesome my friend thank you for sharing your talent with us i am going to try that on the build i'm working on now you take care and enjoy your vaction brother
Masking tape glue hardens and dissolves the paper in about a year. Then the engine is in the car and can't be fixed. Black vynl tape would probable last longer.
+Samuel Vasquez I am not sure of the gauge of the wire, but I will try to find out. I bought the wire from a local craft store and made sure it fit into the 3/32 tubing I use.
+Samuel Vasquez On this model the bracket was attatched to the alternator. On others I will make the bracket. I haven't used after market brackets yet. It all depends on how the model comes in the box. Thanks for the questions and kind words!
By far one of the best 14 minutes I ever spent on TH-cam great video thanks for shearing

Thank you for the video! I learned how to do it! Looks much better than my old 'paint the whole thing ' in flat black.
Thank you for the tip very nice 🐎Mr. ED Says just have fun modeling

Great Build!
Very nice you make it look easy
Thanks Ken!!!!
Looking good I love the details of the engine
Thanks!!
Lovely detail work, Darren. Great tutorial too. :)
Thank you!
Great tip, Looks amazing when you are done. KUTGW. and enjoy your trip.
Thanks! I hope to relax for a few days!

Just came across this video, good stuff man.
Better if the parts were in view and focus. Nice idea. Thanks.
Awesome how to video take care
Thanks!
Hi, thanks for sharing. What size drill bit do You use for pen-drill to make the Power Steering bracket holes? Thamks again
/Rosemary
That was great. I'm using that.
Thanks for the video! Great tips
Great Tutorial. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Looks great and cheap too!!! Thanks!!!
Thanks for sharing
Great detail and good tutorial.
I just wish he’d adjust the focus and keep his work in frame.

Joe
Thank you! KUTGW!
Crazy cool
I love it! Thank you!
Sweet nice lil tip thanks.
Very nice!
Thank you for such awesome tips! Im going to try this.. what color do you use on the pulleys?
Thats awesome thank you
You can paint it green on the outside too to replicate the Gates!
Awesome! A+++++
It's a good thing you verbally described what you were doing, because you were either out of frame or out of focus.
Just a little extra work yields a lot more realism. Will do this on my next engine
thanks I look forward to seeing it.
I am using your idea on the hose clamps on my new build
+Samuel Vasquez Are you talking about the Super Bee? I can't wait to see some progress videos.
Awsome idea.
Thanks for the reply. I have never made a bracket. So, if you can, the next time you make one could you make video on how you make one. Thanks.
Sweet.. thanks for this tutorial buddy...
Thanks! I hope I can continue putting up videos.
That’s cool
Nice engine 💙💙💙👍👍👍👍
This is a good video except that nearly everything you do is maddeningly just off camera, lol.
I use black rubber bands. Making belts, just dont use a wide serpentine belt on the older engine kits.
How are you building the alternator and brackets?
Great tip
That is awesome my friend thank you for sharing your talent with us i am going to try that on the build i'm working on now you take care and enjoy your vaction brother
Thanks! I hope it works for you.
Cool tip! thanks
awesome tip too!!

awesome video
Thanks Mario!
Great tip and trick Darren, have you tried the aftermarket pulleys yet. Cheers
Yes I have, but when money is tight I go with what I have. Trying to do as much as I can with little expense.
What kind of material is used for the belt?
Did you remove the plastic in the pulley or just wrap the tape around it.
Thanks
What gage wire did you use for the hinges on the doors and where did you get it?
+Samuel Vasquez I am not sure of the gauge of the wire, but I will try to find out. I bought the wire from a local craft store and made sure it fit into the 3/32 tubing I use.
Where do you get the 3/32 tubing? I found some 2mm ( outside Diameter) at Hobby Lobby.
Sweet!
What brakes glue joints apart
Was the alternator bracket already part of the alternator or was an after market piece?
+Samuel Vasquez On this model the bracket was attatched to the alternator. On others I will make the bracket. I haven't used after market brackets yet. It all depends on how the model comes in the box. Thanks for the questions and kind words!
do u need to file a groove in the pulleys or do u overlap?
I don't put a groove in the pulleys because the belt is flat, but its an idea I might try.
Hello, could you tell me where you found the mopar air cleaner lid decal?
Hey
I would love to get into this hobby
What brand and scale are those cars
Thank you
I typically build Revell models 1/25 scale. I hope you do get into this hobby
Where do you get the belt material?
Any relation to D B Cooper? Do you know where he is?
This is for guys that have mastered model cars… and what to Challenge themselves.. This is not for new model builders
You can say that again. And it ‘s stupid as well - Thank you.
Stupid anyway
👍❤
New sub here
great video, except for the off-camera shots.
Hard to watch due to subject matter being off camera or blocked by your hand.
Other wise information is useful
There is no way this is faster than painting the belts and pulleys.
Makes a great serpentine belt not so much a v-belt
KUDOS
Hey man , you kind of disappeared.
just getting in to modeling very good information just out of focus and out of camera view
For belts you say fold masking tape, put on glass and suddenly you have a black belt? WTF are you talking about?
Great tip
where did you get the pin vise? Or I guess that small of a bit?
